So, after i found my first Block here (364506), maybe my first block ever, i like to say Hallo to all who are mining here! Enjoy the Payout, as i always enjoyed all the other Blocks since January.
...
P.S Kano, if you wondered who mined to your adress lately (1Kanoi...) , after you posted the link to your S3 Firmwares, i pointed a few SP20 at this adress as a small donation. It's not much i think, but after i made nearly every mistake thats possible with my hardware, there isn't much left to donate : )  …. who cares, i didn't started all of that for money, i started to support freedom, the lack of coins reminds me know : )
Nice. Always good to see miners find blocks without having 100+THs Smiley
Now if I could just find one on the pool myself also ...
-ck has found 2, but I'm still 0.

Regarding rentals - well for the time being at least nothing has changed.
I certainly would warn people before it would happen (if it ever was going to happen)
My thread on the subject was more of a wake up call, since a lot of people don't realise there's yet another way people can 'get' you and a pool when you mine.

Thanks for the donation - always appreciated!

So, after i found my first Block here (364506), maybe my first block ever, i like to say Hallo to all who are mining here! Enjoy the Payout, as i always enjoyed all the other Blocks since January.

But i like to talk about about something else today. Kano: A few days ago i saw your thread regarding the rental of Hash-Power here. And i have to say, yes i also worried about the possibility that someone maybe steal the Blocks who were found with the rented Rigs!
I tried it two times, one time more or less excesive at NiceHash, and another time (the last time!) at MRR. So, i understand that you think about banning rented hash from your pool! But i'm a little bit concerned about how you like to do it!
I trusted your pool / payout since the first day. But, since my mining looks like renting all the time, i start to worrie. An example. I have a total of 6xS3, 6xSP20 (at 1050 GH/s … thanks for all your posts Phillipma ; ), 1x S5, 2x S5 with one brocken blade each, 1x S2, and 2x S1.
When i count this all together that look like 18 workers. But i'm not able to run all of that 24/7! My temperatures vary between -10 degrees and 30 degrees celsius sometimes at one day. If i like to use the washing maschine, i have to plug some miner at that breaker out. When i go to sleep i plug more then half of everything out, when my Girlfriend is here i sometimes plug everything out. When the Farmers are cutting the grass and it's windy i also have to plug nearly everything out if i don't like to clean everything from the dust for 10 hours.... and there are many other reasons!
So my owned hashrate (i'm not going to rent anymore) varys between 0 and around 14 TH. Two month ago it was between 0 and around 19 TH …. but meanwhile i sold most of my S5 and pluged the old miners in...

Would be nice to hear that all shares i submit are save! The whole mining was not always fun, and if I didn't had found your pool in January i think i would have stopped completly. So, be carefull what you are doing... there are not many pools left.

And i have to say i l also liked the low hashreate more, i was about 2% of the pool some time ago when we were down to 800TH/s. And i stayed the whole fucking bad luck streak with the three or four very bad blocks. Hope, i can stay without any concerns in the future!

Ok, stopping my concerns know... thanks for the Ant-Firmware's will finish that Ant Setup within the next weeks (would have been alsmost ready, if i didn't had read the thread about renting ; )

And, by the way, Kano, you asked one time a few post earlier if someone recognize the restarts. Yes, i nearly always recognice them, since my stats always go to zero. The best share go to zero. And i don't know not even nearly what my average hashrate was over last week... wasn't any problem... the payout always look correct (As far it's possible to calculate with extremely changing total hashpower of the pool : )!

Best wishes! Hope my next post is free of concerns!

Fingolfin

BTW, thanks again for the S2 image Kano, just that you know that we have talked before … but the other account was never meant to use, so this is my pseudonym i'm going to use here. Would have took longer to really register if i didn't had to adress what i have written.... ; )

Anyone taking notice of their miners would have seen the pool restart a few times over the last 24hrs.
I'm about to do another one.

We've been working on some problems caused by the sh...low bitcoind due to the "Network Tests"
(as we've mentioned before) and making code changes to deal with them.
Of course, as usual Smiley this hasn't caused any block finding problems ... with 2 in the last 8 hours ...
and now the luck table is, yet again, back to looking very good Smiley

@kano is there any reason payments to a P2SH address (aka "3 series") wouldn't work for payouts from your pool? I thought I'd check for sure. I believe some pools and services have issues sending to anything other than addresses starting with "1".
Our first payout included one ...
Yes it works.

Awesome thanks for the confirmation. Been playing around with copay wallet and it's pretty slick. Thinking about moving over to it from mycelium.

Looks like we just found a block
Yep and very much thanks to the higher pool hash rate of the list of top miners, and canaan most of course, the pain of a slow block was indeed much shorter than it has been lately Smiley

But the txn fees have been good for the last 5 blocks also: approximately 2% 1% 1% 2% 1%

Just to let miners know, Kano and I worked on minimising the latency of bitcoind under the current flood of transactions and I'm happy to say that we've been able to deploy some of my custom modifications to this and solo ckpool which still guarantee maximum transaction processing (i.e. never a zero transaction block) while minimising the risk of stale work / orphans.

Plus we are NOT using a transaction blacklist; all transactions are prioritised on their own merit as per bitcoind rules.

a power failure has caused all s3 with latest update to fail to restart???
Only thing I can think of is if the /overlay/ got corrupted due to the power failure and now there's a problem starting.
But my update makes no difference to that problem.

What do you mean by "fail to restart"
Does it boot and you can see the web but cgminer wont start?
Does it not boot at all?

I power off my S3s every day with the power switch on my PSU and then switch them on again the same way - never had one of them fail to start up when doing that.
S3s show web ui but will not mine at any b/u pool or primary had to do a system reset back to bitmain
Then I guess the /overlay/ got corrupted by the power failure?
It stores anything that changes including your settings and info like the system settings.
If you've factory reset it then that will wipe /overlay/ and reinitialise it also so that would certainly have fixed it.

The 3 changed files that affect the mining working are the replacement /usr/bin/cgminer  /etc/init.d/cgminer and the matching changed settings /etc/config/cgminer
(the other changes wont stop it mining - they affect the display and changing the /etc/config/cgminer file)
Those three files have to 'match'
If one is reset and they don't match, then just redo the update process to fix the file(s) in /overlay/ that was/were effectively deleted by the corruption
(including running the cgset command)
i.e. just run the full update process again.

Again, I switch my 2 off at the power each day and haven't had any /overlay/ corruption, but it's not completely impossible, since it is a live running system with a write enabled folder that can of course, like any computer, be corrupted by switching it off at the wall - though since /overlay/ isn't written to very often, it's not likely to happen.

My best share reset a little bit ago.  The pool doesn't say it found a block.  Did the pool restart?
There's been a few restarts dealing with the block change times on that crappy slow getblocktemplate command that some phailure wrote that's in bitcoind ...

... but bestshare isn't an attribute of kano.is ...

It's on solo.ckpool.org and yes someone found a block there earlier.

Sounds good.  Thanks for the development.

The minimal stat's via my Bitcoin address show the bestshare just like on solo.ckpool.

{"hashrate1m": "814G", "hashrate5m": "744G", "hashrate1hr": "778G", "hashrate1d": "122G", "lastupdate": 1436549256, "bestshare": 3623383.4471292584}

Thanks,
Sam
Oh right - yeah I forgot about that - indeed that data is the same as solo since it's ckpool that generates it, not ckdb Smiley
(To make that work originally I just added a script to pass it back for address miners)
Oops Smiley
I guess ckpool resets it on a restart but I've never noticed since I don't display it anywhere on the web site for account users.
