I think right now I’d just buy btc instead of more miners. Unless difficulty dropped and we started hitting the block lottery.

I agree. They are indeed spooked. I fell down the rabbit hole, when it was at $170usd. It's going to take ALOT more before
I start doubting things. My other hobbies include things with horsepower, so I'll NEVER see an ROI, besides smiles. I'm not
worried about it. My miners are TOOLS of the trade, not the trade itself. Also, buying and holding has NEVER been bad for me.
People new to the ups and downs of the price, who are Miners, need to understand the importance of this Pool. If we can keep the
hashrate up, and stay growing, our rewards will come quicker. This is not an unattainable goal, and I've personally dedicated my
time towards it. I see it as, we can set back and hope things happen, or we can put forth effort to MAKE things happen. This
community is something that WE can shape, and to some extent, influence to our likings. Like finding blocks quicker. I like that!!!
It's more than just plugging in a miner and hearing the sound of a slot machine....IF you're in it for the Long run!!! If you think the miner is a slot machine, and you'll get rich in 2 months, there's definitely more for you to learn about.
yes we r also in it to anoy the neighbors and get free electricity from large corporations to run the shoe boxes
. i can see alot of the corporate guys turning off the machines but not quiting they will jst wait for difficulty to go down or price to go up.

If you've been mining for more than a couple of years, these conditions don't seem radical...not a whole lotta fun, but not radical.
Got my BFF's new 821 up and running in one of the slots here at home that was running a 741 (mine). That one will go to Labrador on Monday. The other 741 here at home will go to Labrador when I can afford to get an 841 in here. Then there will be two S7s looking for a forever home (being replaced in Labrador).
It's all good.

I think the real question is are we looking at an 8 10 or 12 nm chip?
My guess is they'll stay one step ahead of DragonMint and go with a 10nm chip. That should produce something like 20-25 TH at the same power usage or a little more than the current gen S9
I guess it also depends on how many chips they jam in there
Still think they're working on that 10nm chip for the FOLLOWING release, not the NEXT release. This AsicBoost thing is a temporary "crutch" to get them to produce that "break-through" miner IMO.

That makes sense, when other miners were beginning to come online/announced, Bitmain already had the replacement going. We'll see it second half of the year no doubt, it all depends on when they announce it.

They still have value. I'm not saying one is going to build an empire of S7's. They served me well and got me started. I'm ready to increase my efficiency with bigger and better miners. Someone else may be in the same beginning point and look for S7's.....and I have some I am retiring while also trying to keep them on the pool. You are right that they won't be very much, especially if you knew what they cost at the time they were purchased.
I agree. If someone wants to get into Bitcoin but doesn't have a few grand just laying around, they have to start somewhere. I started with an Avalon6 (3.5THs @ $2/day in electric) when Bitcoin was 2x what it is now--paid a pretty penny for it too--and with the steady increase in difficulty coupled with the constant drop in Bitcoin prices, one could argue that I'm currently doing little more than laundering my electric bill payment for Bitcoin. Ok, I'll accept that, but I'll also ask what other legal investment that you'd recommend for me to spend that same USD on that will potentially double later this year when the price goes back up.I'll admit that in hindsight I could've went a cheaper route than to buy my friend's Avalon6 setup this January. On the other hand, I also paid my way out of some potentially demoralizing frustrations, which may have delayed and/or discouraged me from following through with this Bitcoin endeavor altogether. In fact, this would be the time to buy a less than top-tier miner at a low price and upgrade when you can sell it for more, or just get every last TH out of it while waiting for Bitcoin to go back up in value.
So, with that I say...

Congrats!!! I'm expecting my 841's this week. Working my way up. Also, filling out the paperwork for Solar next week. Hopefully have it set up around summer time.
