***BUYERS BEWARE!!!***
Glad we got another, but, boy, do I have a story to share tomorrow...
Is it Good?
Will you tell us on Friday?
It may be Good Friday, but my story is not--more annoying than anything, actually. I'll provide details here soon, but in the meantime...

Is anyone familiar with that cryptoHWwallet
 seller on Amazon, eBay, etc.
?
Sorry for the long lead-up, but I was already up too late last night and too busy today with this pesky day-job Grin to run this by everyone...

So, you all may have noticed I've been talking about a hardware wallet I ordered. Well, it was supposed to be a "new" Ledger HW.1, and although it came in a plastic-sealed box, it was half punched out of it's plastic card-shaped holder, AND it had obvious scratch marks across the plastic and gold-plated contact area. At best it was careless workmanship; at worst it was as clear as day tampering, and who knows what else?!

Anyway, I just wanted to try saving others some grief if they too were looking for a cheap but brand name solution to work as a hardware wallet. Thanks to Kano 's advice, I'm leaning more toward a standalone Linux machine dedicated to Bitcoin Core... Wish me luck!

hw wallets should only ever be bought from the manufacture for security reasons. anyone can reseal a container

If nothing else the huge pools could agree to stop mining once we hit 2000 blocks and let the smaller pools find them...

If nothing else the huge pools could agree to stop mining once we hit 2000 blocks and let the smaller pools find them, and when the difficulty changes, won't that have an affect on what the new difficulty is? Huh

That is about the same as asking Walmart to shutdown to allow the local Mom & Pop stores some business.

Walmart is going into business of robotic bees to spread the pollen on their crops. So I wouldn't count that out Wink

Since Kano started posting the Monthly Block Statistics in March 2016, the best month we've had for Luck% was April 2017 with 147.47%.  This month is at 140.28% which makes March 2018 the 2nd best month percentage-wise.  I believe 1 more block before the end of this month will make this month the best we've had on Monthly Statistics since March 2016 when the table started! Cheesy

The luckiest day in pool history was my birthday and this absurd luck spree started when I plugged in here beginning of March...

....  coincidence?

Absolutely.

Thanks for the heads up.  Never understood Hardware Wallets.  Too great of a chance to physically lose them or damage them - at which point your back to your pass string that needs to be printed and stored someplace safe (like a bank safety deposit box, except those are not as safe as people think compliments of "abandonment" laws that line government pockets).

I'm fond of the idea of a Linux box, running Bitcoin Core, with everything but that DNATed traffic turned off.  e.g.  No Telnet, no SSH, no Apache, no anything allowed in.  Only access is via the console.  No GUI either.  In my mind, this is something like a minimal Gentoo box.  Keep a "pocket money" wallet on something convenient, like a Windows box running Bitcoin Core, that you transfer funds too as needed.  You have all deposits go to the Linux box.  Downsides:

1) double transaction fee to spend (thus a pocket money wallet that you only push coins too occassionally)
2) delays associated with 1) when you need to spend if your pocket money wallet is low
3) the possibility someone steals the physical box
4) not helping the network by being a full node (since inbound traffic would be blocked)
5) the inconvenience of needing to login via the console to check your balance

But at least I feel its secure.

Good news is that it doesn't have to be much of a box.  Just something with enough storage to hold the blockchain for awhile (250-500GB SSD or SATA drive depending on how future proof you want it)

What’s the expected increase this time?
And do you have a good site to track expected increases?

I use to use a few but they’re all outdated now
call me an optimist but with some blocks taking over an hour to solve and the profitability of mining in the toilet at the moment im hoping it will go down Cheesy

Edit: I'll admit that I'm probably not thinking or speaking wisely on this subject. It does sound like I'm trying to beat the system here... Shame on me for even mentioning it; however, I'll still leave the comment here for discussion purposes.

My 10 S9's have made 0.2 BTC chugging away for the ramping up from 85TH for the 18th March block and fully ramped at 137TH for the last 3 blocks.

A friend of mine just complained he only made 0.15 BTC for the whole of March from "the other pool" for 6 S9's

So today we get another 81 TH since he's now seen the light!

3 more blocks for the weekend? Smiley

I wonder hm hm coin he makes 😳

If you do the basic math he has about 40% of our hashrate so 40% of a block is about 5 BTC... Grin

When I look through the transaction from our last payout, I see one at 4.855 BTC so that's probably our hero's payout Cheesy
