I have some space if anyone wants to be crazy and pay 50%  hahaah  Actually, I can do it for less.  But if you are WILLING to pay 50%  I'll take that too. I actually know a guy who is doing it for 10 %.

Did anyone see this? Wow, from 6% to 50%

Dear ViaBTC users:

In the past 14 months, ViaBTC cloud mining service has covered over 50 countries and regions in the globe, served tens of thousand cryptocurrency investors and received great popularity all over the world. We are very grateful for your love and support and will continue trying our best in providing more investment options.

Recently, due to policy changes, some of our long-term hosting partners are facing a crisis of farm closure as mining resources in Mainland China become more scarce, leading to rocketing costs of our cloud mining operation. To guarantee the long run of cloud mining, ViaBTC has no choice but have to readjust our maintenance fees. The arrangements are as follows:

1. S9 contracts: From UTC time 8:00 12th January 2018, maintenance fee ratio for S9 contracts will be adjusted from 6% to 50%.

ahhh  Looks like the must of put that Nov firmware on in the last little bit.  I checked like a week ago, and it was an older one.  Thanks.

Time for upgrades....

FYI For people asking about temps, and the ramping of the fan...

I read almost all of the posts about these chip temps.  for one there is a temp sensor for CHIP on each board, then there is also a BOARD temp on each board.  The S9 firmware forsome reason does nto show you the board temp, only the 3 hash board temps.  Awesome miner will show you both, under the SUMMARY Tab will show you CHIP temps at the bottom  eg 75/76/78.  on the ASIC tab of that miner you will see a column for Temp, and this is the Board temp, not chip temp.  It will usually be lower, mine run 20-24 deg C Colder than the chips.

The fan ramping up and down isnt a problem, its the indication that there is a problem... its too hot, and then it cools itself down and then fan slows again, and warms up.  Bad coding in my opinion.  I wish I could manually specify a minimum speed so that it is slightly faster than where it falls back to so that dump ramping is stopped.

The issue is that if the unit runs hotter, the life expectancy is shortened.  And since parts and the s9's are hard to get, its in your best interest to keep them happy with plenty of cool air and lots of power.

Yes, the first Chain, 6 i believe is ALWAYS warmer, and ALWAYS has more hardware errors.  Don't know why, but my 5 do the exact same thing.  Even though they have different fans on 2 of them.  Them Yellow fans that I think are the original are nice, but they have a certain hum to them that sounds like a bad bearing, it almost seems like different tones are played from them.  THAT is what I find annoying.  But, I keep telling myself.....

That's the sound of money....

What does it matter that the fan in ramping up and down. I have one that does that as well and have seen multiple posts be individuals attempting to fix it. I have never had an issue with the machine and have never bothered with it. Is it because the sound? Worried about extra running cost with electricity?

The only problem I have with the issue is the fan may die while I sleep and I end up burning my boards, I have seen multiple posts, but not a sure fix. It will add extra cost, but mainly just it not running 100% as it should, I'm already ocd enough and different board temps are enough, hahaha. As long as the boards stay cool, my worry is just the wear and tear on the fan. Still learning

Yes, it's the sound.   I'm OCD as well and get irritated when I can hear (even though the sound deaded mining room door) the RPMs fluctuate.  Smiley

Must drive you guys nuts to see one board with 72 chip temp and the next one 67 and the third one 65.  Grin

Ha, not only that - but why does Chain 6 always have more HW than 7 or 8!?  Tongue

Probably it's location in the actual unit.  That's all I can guess.

Any info on problems with fan speeds on the s9? Got 3 hooked up today, been running 4.5hours now, and one of them likes to ramp up the fans to 6k rpm even though the temps are fine. Maybe a bad firmware? Also one of them is throwing .266% invalid/stale shares but this is below the pool avg so from what I understand thats pretty normal and will level out as I complete the ramp up period. Thanks for the help

I have one that goes from 4k to 6k every few minutes - or at least it did when it was SLIGHTLY warmer than it is now.   (I mean by 2-4 degrees)  I upgraded to "File System Version   Fri Nov 17 17:57:49 CST 2017" in hopes of it correcting, but it didn't.

The highest chip temp is currently 76 and it no longer ramps up and down - however, I have no doubt that when the temps get back up to 78 it will resume the up and down.

What is your highest chip temp on your S9 that is spinning at 6k?
Where did you get the Nov 17 2017 version,  all I saw was aug on bitmains site...

https://shop.bitmain.com/support.htm?pid=00720161126080548570Q2tDBXAH065D or directly here (https://file.bitmain.com/shop-file-server/firmwares/Antminer%20S9/Firmware/00720170428120943064Xx38xD7Y0683/Antminer-S9-all-201711171757-autofreq-user-Update2UBI-NF.tar.gz)

I don't know what difference 11/17/17 has vs others, I only upgraded to see if it would "fix" the RPM issue.

Hi all,

Thought it was finally time to introduce myself here. I´ve been lurking since mid-November trying to get up to speed with mining, having given up on it back in 2014. I dragged some of my old kit out of storage and managed to get a small amount of hashing power running (900GH/s) just to kick things off.

In November I ordered a couple of S9´s, and in December a couple of A741´s, and they all arrived the beginning of the week. Have the Avalons up and running now, but the S9´s are just too noisy. I´ll have to look at some sort of soundproofing for those. If I can get my hands on some more miners I will look for a dedicated hosting space where noise won´t be a problem, but in the meantime I´m stuck using our empty apartment. Thankfully no neighbours at the moment. Grin

Not expecting to get rich from this endeavour, just having fun, and hopefully making a bit of money on top.
Great to have some more miners in the pool. Good luck to your little workers.

PS. Meant to add, that this is the friendliest mining pool I have ever come across. A really friendly and helpful group of folks.

Sorry another noob question. I downloaded the mobile app and generated an API key off the Kano site, but the app won't let me use the API to sign in, it wants my bitcoin wallet address. Is this normal?

The VH app? It should only require your API key and username.

The BTC address is if you're mining on ck's solo pool.

I downloaded the CKPool (Kano) mobile app for android.

Let's have a 12 block day!

I'd go for a 2 block day (within 24 consecutive hours).  That's not too much to ask.

MINE ON WITH THE ONE THE ONLY KANO-SAN!

joreas

I am going nowhere. I was here last month for a short period and left with the intentions of coming back after adding more hash power. I have more than doubled what I had and I am here to stay for at least a few months.

Looking forward to that new block!

Happy Mining!

Walter Russell's Cosmogony is RIGHT!
I had temp issues recently also..-

-35 Celsius outside and my 14x S9's struggled to keep the workshop above 40 Farenheight...some temps of units near floor level were down to low 40's also...fans down to <2500 RPM on many units.
Awesome miner on average reports temps much  higher than miner itself...

Units will often refuse to boot/ re-boot if too cold ( <55 Farenheit )
When cleaning some units....I noticed many of the aluminum cooling fins had caved in and were touching each other....I GENTLY CAREFULLY pried them apart to restore proper separation for dissipation.

I got my Jan units several weeks early also (Purched in Early Nov).....

One of my 3...  14 Theta units is a dog that can barely hold down 13.6.

Pissed I missed the last two batch sales...I was on the site with account open and plenty of BCH ready for 4 units with PSU's pre-selected and refreshing madly.......
...... but they never came available  fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

did manage 1 each for previous two releases but one was EXPENSIVE!!! (So 16 by march + 4 by ?)

the miner will shutdown when the temp is high. i had an issue where the AC went down and all miners did shutdown at 100 deg.
the lower you cool the lower you get exhausted heat.
