I am not going to sell the S9's until I have a UPS Tracking Number on the A8's. If I had 4 more coming, I would mine with them until then. Too much opportunity out there mining and accumulating BTC to be near sighted. The Fundamentals of BTC have not changed. There will only ever be 21,000,000. 4 million have been lost forever into the ethers. 16 million total population of BTC ever to be created and a 7 billion human market. It doesn't get any more Inelastic than that. If I were you, I would Fire them puppies up. MINE ON WITH KANO-SAN!! The best little Bitcoin mining pool on earth.

Yep, I hear you on that one.  Get the product in hand and then sell the S9's.   I like this scenario quite a bit.

Hi guys,

I'm wondering what's the reasoning behind selling the S9s to buy some A8s?  Are there any technical reasons (faster, lower power consumption, better return, higher MTBF, etc) or is it purely because people are willing to pay an arm and a leg for S9s and perhaps not so much for A8s (and if not so much, why not?)

Also, if I'm interested in adding 100 units of hashing power (it'll be more about the space than power for me) come Q1 or Q2, what would be my best bet in terms of availability and pricing?  The Avalons or Antminers...or something else?  Thanks in advance for the replies guys..

Announcement from Caanan concerning the A8

Quote
821Annoucement

Yesterday in  Hangzhou we announced our Avalon 821, and laid out the roadmap for the 841, 861, 921 and Avalon 10 series.

Avalon 741 is end of life: the last batch is being produced and is promised to customers/distributors who will receiving their final shipments shortly.

Avalon 761, our solution with integrated PSU  is likewise End of Life. The last batch is being built and will ship out in early Jan.

821:  The Avalon 821 will ship at 11 TH (terahash) and 1200 Watts for a power efficiency of 109Watts per TH, a great improvement over the 741 which was rated at 150 Watts/TH.

841: the Avalon 841 will ship at 13TH and 1200 Watts for a power efficiency of  92 Watts/TH. I expect this to be a Q2 Product.

It's too early to talk about the 861 (integrated PSU), the 921 and 10 series, but 2018 promises to be a great year.

821 Prices:   We have not yet settled on price for 821, but it will be driven by market forces and the price of Bitcoin. Demand for product is more than 10X of the supply and the pricing in the spot market clearly reflects this. As well, the price of BTC has drawn in many new customers. As soon as I have pricing I will communicate it to you. Please do not ask for it, we will tell everyone at the same time.

Ship dates: After we finish the last 741 and 761,  the 821 will go into production in January. I wish I had exact dates, but as of today I only have estimates. We should be able to ship to a small number of customers in late January. We will contact the customers who have been selected for January shipment, so please be patient.

In February and March volumes will increase, but be advised that February has Chinese New Year and we will shut down between the 14th and the 23rd.

Distributors:  We are no longer accepting applications for resellers. Given the constraints in supply, we will only add a small number of new distributors. Hopefully in Q2 we will be able to open up the opportunity. If you have signed up, we will be going over our list and making our selections.

New Forecast:  When I have pricing I will be asking everyone to do a new forecast based on the pricing. A forecast is your estimate of how many machines you will order. Do not simply put down a large number to get my attention. We select customers both large and small and if you do not order what you forecast your entire order will be cancelled.

So capabilities outlined but no prices yet.
Looks to be an interesting 2018.

That is great news. Batter up, looks like they are going to hit a few Homeruns. The only question is, Do I keep the S9's or "SELL" them on Ebay for a Profit at 5K each as I replace them with 8 Series miners from Canaan. I am digging it. MINE ON WITH KANO-SAN!!

I was thinking the same thing......  Funny. I have 4 more s9's coming in January, and I think they can sell at a real good premium being new.  Depending on availability of the 841, might be a smart move, ie FREE miners! with pocket change

What are you looking to get for the new miners? I may be interested. I need two more to fill up the power grid at one of my mining locations.

I like big BITS and I cannot lie.

BCH is an altcoin and Kano has repeatedly stated that this pool will ONLY support the one, the only, the ORIGINAL BTC.
No shitcoins allowed here!
Nor extended 'debates' about shitcoins...  Roll Eyes

Yeah, we'll leave that to /r/BTC and /r/Bitcoin

currently it's almost twice as profitable to mine than BTC.

How did you determine this? This URL doesn't agree:  https://www.fork.lol/

Is there anything planned in the future to support BCH on KanoPool

Hello, first of all I want to thank all of you for your heroic efforts and the huge hash power that you provide for the pool, and Kano of course who made all of this happen. I joined KanoPool 2 weeks ago, I like the concept and intend to stay.

You probably all know what happened today since Coinbase started supporting Bitcoin Cash so I will not get into too many details. Is there anything planned in the future to support BCH on KanoPool, currently it's almost twice as profitable to mine than BTC. Skyrocketing fees are fundamentally changing Bitcoin and are destroying its value for small payments: av. $30,-/transaction compared to a few cents for BCH.

Hi.. My last payment from block 500096 It's not in my wallet yet. What is the problem?

Help->Payouts

if i understand correctly, the actual payments for the recent block 500096 have not actually been sent out yet, but but go out with the next block we find...?
The transaction is sent out when it's possible to do that - when the block reached +101 confirms
(plus 1 minute I delay to ensure both the pool bitcoind and the wallet are in sync)
That was about 12 hours ago.

In Bitcoin, the first step to making a payment, is to send out a transaction onto the internet.
That is a zero confirm transaction - it's not in a block yet.
Some time after that, it will (may) get it's first confirm by being included in a block.

thanks for the explanation.
so technically, i should be able to see the payment in the blockchain, even if as unconfirmed, right? or not necessarily?

I couldn't find a rewards page linked from the mainpage that lists out the rewards for bitcoinadresses. I don't have a useraccount on Kano, I mine to a bitcoin address.
Ah ok - yep you won't see that.
You'll just have to wait for it to confirm.
However you can work out what your reward might be:

First consider how much you'd expect to get in 3 days of mining = T = 3 times the daily expected reward for your hash rate
Then work out how much of the last 18 says you mined = D
Your reward would, very roughly, be around T * D / 18

Now if you only mined with a tiny miner or D is very small, then you probably mined dust (dust is anything less than 10000 sat)

Edit: you can work out your daily expected rate here: http://tradebtc.net/bitcalc.php

we confirm many of our own payments.

you reward isn't reduced to dust as dust is rewards only below 0.001 BTC.

I also do not have an unconfirmed transaction yet but it will come.

I haven't received an (unconfirmed) transaction yet from the last block.
Does that imply my contribution is reduced to dust?

The Rewards page will says what it was.
