Well it appears that using fastest node (if that's what it is) really helps the efficiency of the miner.
for me is:  stratum+tcp://nya.kano.is:3333

I was averaging about one reject an hour (about 27 or so during a 24 hour period). At present I don't have any.
Went from pinging 139 ish ns to 49ns and it has made a difference. Not sure if any of it is related but I also have no hw errors. Only been up an hour from reset though.
Hope this helps anyone that is new.
I will be lurking, keep up the great posts

Hello All,
Been buried reading and reading more trying to get up to speed with everything... Started at slushpool for a week and a half and did well with my s9. Investigated more and found you guys! I love the fact that everything is so transparent. A few questions obviously.. lol

1. hypothetically if everyone ran at 100% would most pools payout the same using PPLNS method adding tx and minus the pool fee?

2. frequency of blocks, having a lower hash rate then the larger pools we don't have the frequency of block success....but is that made up because of less hashing power to pay? ie more to spread around to fewer folks?

3. while reading, I came across pinging where our miners are pointed. I am pointed at "stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333" How would I ping this? Also, if it is high, is it worth changing to a lower rate. For example I pinged kano.is and it was burtal 145ns, then pinged the ny one(sorry cant remember) and it came back 39ns (worth a change?) If it is what would be the new address.

I have more questions but I don't want to abuse my new status.. lol

Thanks in advance to any help and answers.

Awesome! appreciate the help....exactly he stuff i wanted to know!
Yes, the payouts are spread across all users based on amount of shares your machines submit.  Larger pools spread the payouts across more miners so each share is less.  Smaller pools spread the payouts across less miners so the payout is more.  The net effect is about the same as all pools expect to hit 100% over time with the differences being if the pool pays out transaction fees and how much the pool fees are.  Here we do get the transaction fees where most pools keep those and Kano's fee of 0.9% is one of the lowest around and it's 0% this month Cheesy

You can ping directly from your miners as well, this can be important if you have your machines in a different location like a data center, etc.  Log into one of your machines, click on the Network tab and then click on the Diagnostics tab.  Ping each of the Kano links below and note the average speed it takes and definately use the fastest as your main link.  It's also a good idea to use main stratum link as one of your backups just in case the node you choose to use goes down for some reason.

de.kano.is
sg.kano.is
jp.kano.is
nl.kano.is

Formatted Links to use for mining (use 3333 or 80, 81, 443, 8080 for the port):

Got to command prompt and type ping nya.kano.is for an example. I think the rest is self explanatory. Here is what I get for NYA, but you should ping all the servers and use the top fastest 3 pings when setting up your miners. They say in life, "timing" is everything. Based on my location my fastest 3 are NYA, US then NL but based upon where you live it can be different.

Pinging nya.kano.is [104.207.132.42] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 104.207.132.42: bytes=32 time=16ms TTL=54
Reply from 104.207.132.42: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=54
Reply from 104.207.132.42: bytes=32 time=16ms TTL=54
Reply from 104.207.132.42: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=54

Ping statistics for 104.207.132.42:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 15ms, Maximum = 16ms, Average = 15ms

So as displayed for me the fastest route to get to the work is with the NYA server. 15ms is fast for a round trip packet.

Hope this helps answer question 3.

Thanks for the reply and info,
Talking about pining... When I asked about pining I meant addresses to ping like you put down.
nya.kano.is that is the one that comes back the best. could you put the other two that you use as well. I am from us (midwest) and looking for the fastest ones for me as well.
How did you find those addresses as well, is there a list somewhere?
Recap of addresses you find the fastest: examples plz

nya.kano.is
us.kano.is......?

sometimes I am a bit slow on the pick up but when I get it it's gotten..... Grin

Please, I have a question: What the difference between the Shares and Avg Share??

Thanks for attention.

EDIT: Sorry for my noobest question.

And which one is calculated to know how much BTC I am generating per hour?
Your BTC per hour is random - that's how ALL PPLNS pools work.

Your expected, average BTC per hour is simply your hash rate * TxnFees,
The 100% PPS calculation is on this page:
http://tradebtc.net/bitcalc.php
N.B. some sites don't uderstand what 1-Diff is so may give you a wrong different value.

What you should get (close to) for a given range on the Blocks page is your hash rate (as 100% PPS) * luck * txnfees
(without subtracting the pool fee until next year)

Kano seems pretty popular here, may as well add my 27T/H to it.

Can I add L3+'s though?

Thanks

This is a Bitcoin only pool.

No.

Don't you know that L3+ is not a Bitcoin miner, but a Scrypt-algorithm cryptocurrency (like Litecoin for example) ASIC miner ?  Wink

It is important to know what you are doing when you are in the mining business.

Though LLitecoin is over 100 so mine on!

Yeah, you need to read this to understand what the stratum means

Stratum mining protocol
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Stratum_mining_protocol

You can mine by using your btc wallet address without the worker extension, but if you have few miners, it is pretty handy to name those with different worker names. Like for example yourwalletaddress.AntminerS9one

Hi,

1. can i use just the bitcoin address in the Worker: field?

In the example format is
Worker:            1KanoiBupPiZfkwqB7rfLXAzPnoTshAVmb.worker

can i just use bitcoin address without the .worker like this
Worker:           1KanoiBupPiZfkwqB7rfLXAzPnoTshAVmb

2. How does the payout work? I did not understand the 5Nd.

3. Is this address correct ? stratum+tcp://nya.kano.is:3333 or nya+tcp://nya.kano.is:3333?

Thanks all

stratum+tcp://nya.kano.is:3333 is the correct format

Does anyone know where I can get some help paying out dust payments? I know they are not automatically sent out but the dust payments I had a while ago are now worth 26 dollars in my currency! Obviously I want to get my hands on them. Is there some way I can get cashed out for these?
My dust here was worth about $2 when I stopped mining, it is now worth over $100.  I'm looking forward to the "accounting code" getting put in.  Hopefully my dust will be worth $1000 then.

Kano keeps saying that one day he will get to that.   There is a lot of work represented in those payments.  Would be a nice way to spread some Holiday cheer.

is there any german miner active here?

I'm still searchin for a serious seller in germany for antminer or avalons.
I bought one s9 over
antminerdistribution.eu
which worked really smooth earlier in this year for about 1700€.

but actually it looks like nobody is selling any serious mining hardware in germany.

Antminer that costs 3000€ and much more is a freakin high price.
and these are mostly just pre-order stuff.

HELP!!!

You just missed out in the Avalon 741 sales that cryptouniverse had. They are the official Canaan distributor in Europe.

Here is a link to their thread
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/cryptouniverse-official-canaan-distributor-2445506

Thank you very much!

After I read your posting this morning I registered at cryptouniverse instantly and ordered THE LAST 2 Avalon 741 Sets.  Grin Grin
After my order they were sold out ;-)

It wasn't really cheap but I think with invoice and warranty and paid by paypal it was a reliable order.

Normaly I read all postings here...sometimes more sometimes less attentive.
Must have missed a posting about cryptouniverse.

So for now I'm waiting for these 2 miners...hopefully they'll arrive before christmas :-)

Cheers and MINE ON!!!

It's nice to see the pool back @24PH+
