I've deleted the '3000 watts' post - pity I wasn't on when he posted it ...

Now we have 6 posts about how '3000 watts' is too high ... well yeah it is too high but it's also not based on the actual hardware either.

I saw the A8 prototype in September ... Tongue

If anyone wants to make random guess posts without any facts, please do them elsewhere.

3k was a guess, and it won't be far off.
Yes it is far off.

All you did was multiply the A7 by 3 - which is wrong.

I like big BITS and I cannot lie.
Thanks guys, appreciate the info. and I do like the warranty!

Any specs released other then 20 TH/s

probably 3000 watts

Damn 3000w.... you just pulling my leg? Hey, is that Canaan testing their units in our pool? or just someone who named themselves that.... alot of TH/s

We need to start a betting pool on when the block hits...

Many of those are most certainly testing units...or units they have for their own purposes.  The hash rate goes up and down quite a bit.

As for the 3000 watts, that may be a deal killer though.  Right now you can get 13.5 at 1200 or so from the s9's.  Something to keep an eye on.

My thoughts as well. 3000w is to is a bunch for 1 unit. Would have to reconfig electrical
That's pretty cool they test here

I'd much rather see a 16-17 TH device with similar or better specs than the s9...more efficient power!!!

Noob question.

Will adding another s9 get to my 5nd faster?

Adding Hashrate to the pool helps everyone involved. The pool reaches difficulty faster which hypothetically means blocks are found faster. Variance (luck) does play a role. Adding hashrate is a win win for everybody. I am adding 4 S9's at 14 TH/s tomorrow. 5nd will happen for me, not worried about when, I just know that I have to pay a little in power and time up front to keep the pool fair. No pool hoppers here which means fair payouts for those who are committed to the pool. Right now at ~98% of difficulty if this was not a 5nd type pool, the pool would see a huge increase in Hashrate then as soon as the pool found a block, they would leave and go to another pool to try and get a payout there. Mine On, you are in the best pool that mines Bitcoin. Push the I believe button and keep adding hashrate!! Everybody wins with BTC @ $17,165, those are BIG wins and this pool consistently finds blocks. Have faith, with a little luck and some patience you can build yourself a very nice tidy sum mining here.

I just got another s9. So ill add another 14ths to the pool tomorrow. I only have 2 Sad but you got to start somewhere

Noob question.

Will adding another s9 get to my 5nd faster?

It will for your miners that are already mining, however the new s9 will have to go the entire 5nd to get up to speed.

Thanks. So the miner i have now it will shorten the time but the new miner will have to go the full distance? Or once the old miner gets to 5nd it wil help the new miner?

Let's say you have 2 miners currently and will add 1 more.   So by adding the third miner, your 5nd will increase faster for the miners that are currently mining but that the third miner will need to ramp up the full time to get up to the 40.5TH's or thereabouts.

I'm stockpiling BTC in wait. Canaan knows they have to to have competitive power consumption. I would be willing to bet it will be pretty close.
If you want one you'll have to hurry. They are going to go like straight fire. Every miner I know is saving for them.

I was looking to get a few more antminers but after reading some more and seeing that the avalon a8 was going to be release with what i am guessing 20 th/s I am going to try and get those.

What I am asking is, Where do the people that own Avalons buy them from if they live in the US. I have seen a few places but do not know who is reliable. Thank you
Look on Canaan's website,  canaan.io
They list the Authorized dealers they use. Advantage to buying only from Authorized dealers is that you get full Factory warranty.
Buying anywhere else on eBay, Amazon, probable scam shop, etc., means zero warranty from Canaan.

hardware warranties - you can't underestimate how valuable they are.
