my S9 seems to only be getting credited with 9TH for the last 9hrs in the "User Shift Perforamance" on the site - but its reporting 13.8TH from its GUI with no issues anywhere?

any ideas or issues your end?

I will reboot and see what happens.

EDIT - I see the pool overall had a blip and reduced hash at exactly the same time my hash dropped.  The pool recovered quickly - but I did not until I rebooted?  So I lost 25% of hash for 9hrs.

From a South Pacific Island I get ping of 157ms from stratum.Kano.is (is this US?)

NYA = 233ms
JP = 269
SG = 280

Euro servers are all much slower

So I have set my failover to JP - thinking that NYA will be similar route to stratum.kano.is but JP should be a different route?
JP goes across the Pacific to the US West coast, so JP is about as close as you can get to stratum.kano.is from Asia.
NYA is of course on the other side of the US
SG is pretty much just for people right there around Malaysia since the network in that area isn't the best - so it solves that for people in that area.

You know, before I was mining here, I thought it was kind of silly the way everyone reacted when a block was found.

Now however, it's WOOOO  HOOOOO!  Another one! Smiley

I get it!

About time we finally got on the board with our first block! Been here in varying degrees, with a few months off in the middle, since August '16. The block was hit by the only T9 in our bunch of otherwise all S9's.

Anxious to know more (hopefully soon) about Canaan's plans that Kano's hinted at, as we've got room to spare on our transformer and are looking to continue to expand.
... and welcome to the Acclaim board Cheesy

I'm on Kaua'i Island at the far west end of Hawai'i. I use the main node (stratum.kano.is) as it has always been almost twice as fast as the JP (Japan), NYA (NY), or SG (Singapore). Part of that has to do with what "backbone" your Internet is connected through. I'm on the same drop here as the US Navy'e Pacific Missile Range Facility five miles down the end of the road...but still, that's how it works here. JP, SG, and NYA are somewhat slower than the main node.

Hope that's helpful.

Thanks - whats your ping from Kaua'i Island to stratum.kano.is?

Hey guys, can anyone recommend me a good place to buy a bunch of BCH coins so that I can buy some more miners?  Because bitmain only have been accepting the BCH as the payment method lately!  Angry

I have used shapeshift a couple of times, though can take a few hours if your unlucky.
The first time I used them the transaction was almost instant, this last time it took
a couple of hours

I wont vouch for them, but they have worked for me

The problem I have is finding hosting, I would love to buy a
few more, but have nowhere economical to run them

I see, thanks!  Although I’m looking for a pace where I can pay with a USD. Smiley

If you have an account with Kraken, they have BCH/USD in their trading pairs.

Ok thanks!  Don’t think I have kraken, just poloniex but I wi definitely check the kraken option.  What a nice day by the way!  Grin

Electrical engineer. Mining since 2014.
These are my pool settings (I'm a guy from Finland):
Pool 1 - stratum+tcp://nl.kano.is:3333
Pool 2 - stratum+tcp://de.kano.is:3333
Pool 3 - stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333

why does ping matter when mining?
so found out that im getting an average of 336ms when i ping - stratum.kano.is for the past couple days since i joined the pool on thursday.
pinged the rest of the servers and found that the de and nl is best for me, with the nl being best server for me at 211ms
so in my antminer "miner configeration" would i essential copy and paste it like this - stratum+tcp://nl.kano.is:3333
and for pool 2 stratum+tcp://nl.kano.is:80 etc..
Is this correct?
The ping tells you how long it takes for the work from your miners to reach the node. The longer the time, the greater the chance that your work could be stale by the time it reaches the node.

You don't want to put a different port of the same node as your pool 2. Instead, put the next node with 2nd lowest ping time. That way in case the node fails for some reason, you are still mining on the pool.

Edit 336ms seems really high for GA to CA. Did you try NYA? It would be the closest physically to your location. When I ping SG (Singapore) from Seattle, I only get 209ms

Im from south africa, so anything under 290 is what i get from where i live with most servers when i play games etc. So 211ms is perfect!

so what you saying is essentially i would make:

Pool 1 - stratum+tcp://nl.kano.is:3333
Pool 2 - stratum+tcp://de.kano.is:3333
Pool 3 - stratum+tcp://nl.kano.is:81

is this correct?

UPDATE - seems this new S9 drops off in hash at this pool every time we get a block? So with LOTS of blocks its become very frequent issue.  Its GUI reports that its all OK and hashing at 13.8TH - but its hashes credited on this pool are about 9TH for many hours before slowly recovering to 13.5 - 13.8TH on the pool.  I have updated now from Jul 2017 to Aug 2017 firmware in case that fixes it.

Anyone else with a Sep 2017 batch of 13.5TH S9's had a similar issue?

Is there a list of all the servers we can connect to? I'm not seeing it anywhere on the site, but I may be blind.
The thread title here Smiley
DE,SG,JP,NL,NYA
replace stratum with any of the above
e.g. nya.kano.is
You can ping them to work out which is closest.

Thanks Kano...but not sure what some of those 2 or 3 letters locationsn refer to....can you just tell me the closest to Georgia (US)?

The default one is probably best for you.

You can also open a command prompt and enter:

ping nya.kano.is

and so on for each of the entries.  You want to use the one with the lowest ping.
