I have not been able to connect for a while - I have kano pools set up as primary but they attempt to connect and then disconnect and go to secondary pools.
There were problems on and off from 04:15:42 UTC until 08:48 UTC
All OK since then.

Well it's back up yet again since 08:48:31 UTC ... but still no notification from the provider stating they've completed working on the power problem.
... and now stated that it's resolved.
OK time to send them some abuse Sad

Down again here in Central Ohio USA.
I have an old S7LN I use for heating the bedroom and it started beeping due to no data. Hopefully the main server issue gets resolved soon. One would hope the main server is on a VMware host and can be moved to another physical server unless the whole data center is dead.

Hi Kano,

Any chance to add some geo-redundancy for the main server, in order to avoid such issues in the future?

(I completely understand this is NOT something to be done right now, so it's just an idea to consider for future improvement...)
The main server is the point that no one talks to directly and manages everything - there of course has to be some main point of control - and yep that's how it is.

Since this is the first time it's happened since I switched to this provider almost 2 years ago - I guess I can say I'm not too concerned yet.

The nodes solve the problem of outages for all other issues since there's many of them.

It doesn't work for me...
Yeah the main server has died again ... I'm awaiting them to resolve whatever the power problem is Sad
The main server is back up again as at 07:04:12 UTC
however, the provider has stated that they don't guarantee there will be no more interruptions due to the power problem ... so we'll see how long it stays alive this time.

For anyone wondering about the 15 minute outage:

The main backend pool was offline from 04:15:42 UTC until 04:31:59 UTC
Some unexpected power problem at the datacentre - though they're looking into it.

The restart took a while due to the bitcoind startup being rather slow catching up.
Was interesting to notice that debug.log said it had caught up to the network, 3 blocks before the then current network block.
As I mentioned in Discord, that's why I don't allow an automatic startup of bitcoind+pool - they need to be checked and the pool only started when all is OK with the bitcoinds.

Anyway, all ok since the restart.

Mine on! Smiley

Also, the qrcode that shows up that you scan, if you save that or the 'Secret Key', somewhere safe, you can always setup the 2FA on another device using that, by scanning it into the new device, or manually setting up the new device by typing in the 'Secret Key' shown.

But yep, the security reason of having no way around the 2FA key, also has the simple solution if you lose 2FA access as you said: create a new account, point your miners at the new account, and the run down on the old account plus the run up on the new account should give you the same total rewards as just mining on the old account.

I was a doofus and forgot to disable my 2FA in Kano.is when I got my shiny new OnePlus 6T. I had to turn my old OnePlus 1 in to receive a $300.00 credit towards the purchase of the OnePlus 6T (T-Mobile USA offer). In the excitement of getting the new phone and doing a factory reset on my old phone I forgot about disabling the 2FA for Kano Pool before I did the factory reset.

What is interesting is watching the 5N play out.

I created a new account, and set my miners up with the new account information.

I am now watching as we find blocks, and receive payments.

My old account is declining in amount with each payment and my new account is increasing in amount with each payment. Add them up and they match the
bitcoin amounts from before I was a doofus.

Just thought this would be enlightening for those who question about how the 5N payment system works and fear they will lose something somehow by
going to Kano Pool. It also might be good for those who might forget to switch their 2FA over when changing phones to know that it is a painless process to create a new Kano Pool account and update your miners with the new account information.

The main reason I created a new account was I like to monitor my Hash rate with the CKPool android app. I might also need to do some
account administration but for the most part Kano Pool runs along without any need for frequent changes.

It is nice to see a few new blocks coming in. I hope the dry spell is over for the rest of the year!

Thanks for the response guys!
Had my miner (S9) offline for a few days, still got the last 4 blocks as ramp-down > 5nd IS A LIFE SAVER!
Upgraded the firmware and indeed it shows good hashrate  Cheesy
Taking much more than wanted unfortunately, but soon i`m going to be able to plug in everything i got at a new location,so something near 53ish TH/s
A pretty decent (and happy  Grin) small miner story : started with an S3 less than a year ago, under SERIOUSLY BrokeAF circumstances, and i used to dream of at least 5TH .
Kano-san was of course my first choice, and LAST!
You guys gave me advice, knowledge, coupons,JUST AWESOME!
Planning on doing a nice YT vid of my Kano setup once it`s done, hopefully educational to new comers and pros alike, and i`ll also chip in some S3-S5`s on a regular, cause i REALLY want to continue KP`s PassTheHash extravaganza Cheesy
MINE ON WITH KANO-SAN!
