Passwords are in notepad then printed on paper which I keep away from everyone.
I got printed table in excel for exchanges also where I write down on paper also usernames, passwords, pin codes or google auth codes etc...
In notepad I have only wallets, usernames and some passwords which are not critical for my exchanges.
I don't want to see dead HDD and loose everthing. Also everything is saved on 2 hdd drives at same time. Keeping file on dropbox or some online service is also ok.

I use brainwallets - and I do that by simply memorizing stuff. Try creating a Memory Palace, it really works!

keeping password in your mind - it is the best option
For you who use the key or passwords of course you are comfortable from bad people who want to seize the property that we have.

I just use a word document, encrypted in a zip file. Change them often. Will use software tomorrow though.

I write all passwords in some files which then I backup on several devices. Only way to survive.
