I saw this the other day,

I could eat a BitBucket now!

The more mainstream companies accept BTC the better, its still very early in the crypto game.

Lets all BY PASS THE BANKS FOREVER!

This is a marketing action that does not last long

"While KFC Canada does not intend to integrate bitcoin as a permanent and long-term payment method as of current, the company has introduced its bitcoin campaign to address the rapidly increasing demand for bitcoin and the cryptocurrency market in general." - KFC Canada

I hope this will happen here in the Philippines also, I love KFC. I hope more merchants/establishments will accept Bitcoin payment around the world. This would be great for everyone who are holding Bitcoins.

That is good news for the Bitcoin. I don't see any impact of this news yet in Bitcoin price which is not moving up. I hope it is not fake news but if it the news is true I expect the price of Bitcoin to move up. KFC is a pioneer compared to other same players of same industry , like Burger King, Pizza Hut , McDonalds in accepting cryptocurrency and I think this will give them a little boost to get more market share.

Check out my YouTube video where I dive more in depth : BREAKING NEWS KFC is now accepting Bitcoin, and Smart contracts might be legally binding!

Is this just a bucket of chicken, or a bucket of publicity stunts?

You will be able to buy a bucket of chicken in Select Canada KFC's. However you will have to order it online using Bitpay, and have it shipped to you.

Cost : Around $20 + $5 shipping + Taxes + Any other blockchain fees

What do you guys think about it?

That's a good news for the bitcoin users. Big companies are starting to accept bitcoin as payment, then more will follow. This is a new wave for the cryptocurrencies. However, the transaction fees are quite high.

So 20 bucks + taxes + 30-50 bucks of blockchain fees. Hmm, sounds like a good offer.

Do you guys think this is going to be huge for cryptocurrency or just a KFC marketing scheme?

If the news is anything to go with , off course it will be very huge for  cryptocurrencies. This is because it will encourage more companies to also introduce payment of their wares with bitcoin and not only bitcoin, it would facilitate the use of altcoins like ethereum, litecoin for a start.

There is a fast food chain in Turkey which is accepting bitcoin as well but I don't think that it's sustainable since execution without strategy is a nightmare!

It's amazing that after the news about Mcdonalds to accept bitcoin as payment here somes another all time favorite fast food restaurant to accept bitcoin too. Well that's a good news for us because it is an easier transaction straight from our bitcoin wallet. Me and my family would be enjoying more meals with these restaurants in the future.

Wont't that make the kfc food much or expensive relying on the high network fees offered by bitcoin. You see to transfer around $20 itself blockchain.com wallet takes some similar amount itself. How are you planning to pay almost double for the very same thing? Not really liked the idea its better if they come up with payment in some other currency like dogecoin or Ether which is low fee.

The funny thing is that you will probably end paying more for the Bitcoin fee than for the bucket itsself. This is imo exactly the reason why bitcoin isnt a good ' paying system ' yet. Before it can be used, a lot of scalability problems have to be fixed

i hope burger king and mcd would do the same and accept payment with cryptocurrency. this is a good start for cryptocurrency to enter the market of uses in real life . when cryptocurrency could uses in daily life it would be the revolution of fiat money to become digital money. i think its big step foward to the future where cashless society will improve our live on earth. there just too much people dont realize that this is the best way to reduce money on the hand. bank doing it wrong all the time and this is the real way to reach that goal.

Do you guys think this is going to be huge for cryptocurrency or just a KFC marketing scheme?

Both are getting benefits for marketing strategy to make more money using Bitcoin payment in the fastfood chain and for Bitcoin this great starting marketing advertising as virtual cryptocurrency because KFC is one of most popular food chains in the world.

This is a great news because more and more establishments are accepting bitcoin. Just imagine how it will affect the market demand if big businesses would accept and adapt on bitcoin transactions. It's really convenient to have and to use bitcoin.

With my luck, I'll be stuck in the drive thru behind the guy paying with BTC and waiting 10+ mins for the confirmation.  :/

This would be the case, but if segwit and the rest of scaling features kick in, we could be buying KFC with BTC.

But in any case, it is impossible to offer proper over the counter service without a second layer solution because it has to be instant. I think in the next years we will see solutions for that.

But even then, you still would need to fill your LN channel with money, Im not sure how that works yet..

Maybe decentralized payments for such small purchases like a chicken is just not possible.
