Can tourists get in or is it disallowed to basically most foreigners?
[/quote]

It is possible to visit North Korea as a tourist but you are not allowed to venture out alone. You are under constant supervision from a 'tour guide' and are taken on mandatory trips to highlight how well the country is doing.

All blood relatives of North Korea’s erstwhile number two, who was executed a month ago, have apparently suffered the same fate, says the S. Korean Yonhap news agency.

Once all powerful, Jang Song-thaek was the ‘regent’ while Kim was still too young to govern after Kim Jong-il’s death. He was executed on December 12, 2013 at the age of 67, after making an alleged attempt to stage a military coup and dethrone his nephew.

Now Kim Jong-un is believed to have ordered the total elimination of his uncle’s biological relatives to demonstrate decisiveness and to clamp down on mutiny with an iron fist, “multiple” sources in Pyongyang told the Seoul-based Yonhap news agency.

Jang Song-thaek’s only daughter, Jang Kum-song, committed suicide in 2006, so the alleged vengeance was wreaked on Jang’s other relatives.

Yonhap maintains that Jang Song-thaek’s elder sister, her husband Jon Yong-jin (N. Korean Ambassador to Cuba), Jang’s nephew Jang Yong-chol (N. Korean Ambassador to Malaysia) and his two sons, both around 20 years old, were slain.

Both diplomats were recalled back to North Korea in early December and executed after their high-ranking relative, Pyongyang sources claim.

Underage sons and daughters and even grandchildren of the abovementioned officials were also reportedly killed.
In the meantime Jang Song-thaek's wife, Kim Kyong-hui, Kim Jong-un’s aunt, is believed to be in a coma after a brain operation.

Yonhap’s source said that some victims put up resistance while being dragged out of their apartments and were shot dead “in front of other people”.

The purge started right after Jang Song-thaek’s execution and is still continuing, as the regime proceeds to expel Jang’s minions from all power structures.

Reportedly, Jang’s indirect relatives, such as the wife of the executed ambassador to Malaysia or other relatives by marriage were not put to death, but exiled to a distant village together with their families.

Not true.  It's a hassle, but there are private tour operators and regular tourists can visit.

I also heard that Kim Jong has hoofs and horns and sucks people's blood at night.

The extent the media goes to portray someone as the embodiment of evil in preparation for war is so lame. Yet people gobble it up like it's truth without question.

The media has become a parody of itself.

The media would never do such a thing!  Grin

Do you reckon the War Machine will ever take on NK? Do they have anything profitable?
You gotta admit, the dog story was a pretty good one.  Maybe those dogs could be a profitable business.  Put them to stud.  You too could own a purebred NK hungry human eater.

I go by 2 basic principles when trying to second guess the media: how big a barrier is there between me and the story, and how much incentive is there to lie about it?

North Korea is a pretty extreme case. The barrier between me and North Korea is probably unequaled by anything else: I can't go there and neither can anyone I actually trust. And the incentive for the  media to lie is pretty high.

Which breeds of dogs did they used? If it is a small dogs or big dogs. I imagine the suffering does make a difference.

They didn't use any dogs apparently. Just guns.

Or not  Roll Eyes

I think it's safe to say he's dead. But the firing squad image has it's own connotations. It's kind of like saying "Oh, he wasn't skinned alive and thrown to the lions, all they did was drown him in a bath".

The only people that are allowed in or out are political figures from North Korea or other countries. And in the case of those from the outside, it's a really picky selection process. Dennis Rodman counts as a political figure, apparently (and in the context he went to North Korea, it was to make a politically motivated appearance, even if he was just claiming to be visiting his friend Kim Jong Un)

All we know about this report is that someone, who isn't the DRNK leadership, reported the story on a blog. That doesn't mean it isn't true.  It doesn't mean it is either. Someone writing statements down in a public place isn't good enough to prove the contents, that's my basic rule. Dennis Rodman definitely went to North Korea and met with Kim Jong Un though, and it's pretty obvious how we know that's true.

So I couldn't go to North Korea on a holiday if I wanted to, or would I need an invite from Kimmy?  Cheesy

Jang Song Thaek, the uncle of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un who was executed last month for "hideous" crimes, reportedly died a hideous death, thrown into a cage with as many as 120 hungry dogs that ate him alive.

According to a new report from Wen Wei Po, a pro-Beijing newspaper "with close ties to China's ruling Communist Party," Jang and his five closest aides were stripped naked and put into a cage with hunting dogs that had been deprived of food for five days. Kim Jong Un, his brother Kim Jong Chol and 300 other officials reportedly watched the one-hour ordeal where Jang and his aides were "completely eaten up."

The report from Wen Wei Po was republished by NBC News but not confirmed, NBC noted.

Jang Song Thaek was executed by the orders of Kim Jong Un last month after being physically removed from his government post, charged with corruption. According to the official Korean Central News Agency, Jang, who was part of the leader’s inner circle and served as vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, was a "traitor."

North Korean leader's uncle was not killed by hungry dogs

Quote
Kim’s uncle, who had been the No. 2 person in the North Korean government, was most likely killed by firing squad before his execution was announced on Dec. 13.

The fictitious story first appeared on a satirical Chinese website where it was posted by editor Pyongyang Choi Seongho. That story was lifted almost verbatim and reported in Wen Wei Po, a Hong Kong tabloid. Soon after, it was published in English in the Singapore newspaper Straits Times.

After that, the Guardian and blogger Trevor Powell report, several Western news organizations published the story without doing any independent reporting or fact-checking.

The Guardian called the incident “… an astonishing example of the media echo chamber gone awry."

The media not fact checking a North Korea story? Surely not.

The real question is, how could they possibly fact check a story like this? Foreign journalists are at the top of the list of people who wouldn't be able to get into the country. Let's just put it this way: if the story has specific detail, and it's out of North Korea, realise instantly that there's no way of proving that it's true.

In South Korea you eat dogs. In North Korea dogs eat you.

It's like "In USA, you find party"  "In Russia party always find you"

With a nasty twist.

Be it satirical or not, his uncle's death is is less gruesome & brutal than the deaths of thousands of North Koreans who died of mass starvation while Kim Jong Un lived it up & PRC is his sponsor & collaborator.
