After the default google authenticator 2FA was removed as mandatory (I had problems with that), I was able to log in ok but when I click wallets and goto the pull down menu there is no Kobocoin option so I can not create a deposite address and I searched kobo in the box which shows nothing either, i don't know were else to look, am perhaps doing something silly, I know you managed to deposit ok. Huh

UPDATE:

Golix Exchange Listing Now Live.

I've just logged into https://golix.com and can confirm that the following exchange listings are now live:

KOBO/BTC
KOBO/ETH
KOBO/ZAR (South African Rand)

ZAR (South African Rand) was chosen as the initial fiat market as it is Golix's largest market.

I tested a deposit using the Coinomi mobile wallet. It took about the time it took me to refresh the Golix wallet page for the unconfirmed transaction to show up. Very impressive (but yeah, we have negligible transactions - still nice to see it's working, and working fast!).

With Crytptopia's problems I think we can all be very thankful that the new Golix listings are now live. That's also very good news on the KOBO blockchain not being compromised by the Cryptopia hack. They were probably after BTC and ETH. Hopefully Cryptopia will be back early Feb, as expected, with all our KOBO wallets intact.

I'm still in the process of trying to get the code update started. It is not a trivial process and can't be done by just anyone so please bear with me. Once completed, the Kobocoin blockchain will then follow core Bitcoin development with all core Bitcoin updates being applied to Kobocoin. It makes things a lot more efficient. If a time comes where bespoke additions need to be added to the blockchain, then I'll first look into how a sidechain can be utilised before considering moving Kobocoin away from core Bitcoin development. I think their development team is better than my team!

I've also uploaded the dev site to live - https://kobocoin.com/. There's still a lot to do, but getting it out there allows me to see where it needs to be improved and updated. ...and the old site was looking a bit too old! - https://kobocoin.com/oldsite.html

These Golix listings are definitely a step in the right direction, and just at the right time! I hope you guys enjoy the new service.

p.s. if you can't see the qr code or kobo address on the wallet deposit page then please refresh the page. There is a Feb update that will resolve this issue. (if you experience it).

is it only me or is the exchange already offline?
only thing what i see is 502 bad gateway.

Cryptopia is back online, markets paused but the wallets look active, hopefully nobody reading this lost out.

Not healthy but, believe it or not, the spread is better! If the spread can remain within the range it's at for some time, then we might start to see more interest. Be patient. Wait for the white paper. I'm also in touch with a someone who can build and manage crypto communities.

Progress will continue.

Also, hopefully cryptopia will be back online soon.

Just to let you guys know that the Kobocoin White Paper is in progress. I'm reading the first draft as I type this. Once completed, it will be added to the website and I'll post a link here.

So far, the white paper is looking good.

I think we're all aware of the hack now. I guess we wait for announcements.
There are no extra transactions in kobocoin blockchain at the time of the hack, think have to be relieved about that because they took more than first appeared and it can be a coin killer if they get hold of a majority share, some never recover from that.

Can remember when Cryptsy got hit, Big Vern said that the way they did it was inserting a few lines of code in the github source code for a coin update, and slipped in that way, hard or impossible to stop if you're accept lots of coins because its unlikely the exchange will be checking over thousands of lines of code for something that is designed not to set off the virus scanners.

Hi, suprisely enough I don't see any update about cryptopia. If cryptopia shuts down, what's the next plan for kobocoin regarding exchanges?
I think we should wait for next announcements from Cryptopia team.
The Cryptopia site has shown under un-scheduled maintenance.

It's not normal maintenance, they got robbed.

I found this write up on FT Reporter. It's from 2017. The writer of the article absolutely gets the point of Kobocoin.

I'm still waiting on the Golix listing. It's been almost a month since the final go ahead but they did have a serious hacking incident a few weeks ago. It's a massive step towards the final goal.

Happy New Year to the loyal KOBO community and hodlers!

Keep your fingers crossed. Golix listing goes live soon, so trading volume for 2019 should be the best yearly trading so far. KOBO will have a dedicated market maker on Golix so this will definitely help. It will also open the door to more African partnerships.

All ten sets of fingers crossed for the new year, surely a much better investment than bitcoin or other coins, I figure most of the big gains have happened already, now its Africa's turn, and what better coin choice  Grin Grin Grin

A quick question please, how are the coding plans going, is there any update to making wild fires in github, any closer ?

Regards.

I've contacted the developer. I'm yet to hear back from him. It will go ahead as soon as he can get started.

To be honest, I'm glad for the market dip and slow times. It takes the pressure off trying to rush things through. We can take this time to gear/partner up for the future.

For those getting impatient after 4 years, just bear in mind that the role models for Kobocoin are LycaMobile (for it's distribution) and Skype (because it's a model of longevity and gradual progress). This was always a long-term project and we're still on track.

Kobocoin is a good bet for the future. Don't underestimate the green/social value of PoS. Don't underestimate the fact that simple utility tokens like KOBO that did not ICO/IPO (e.g. BTC, LTC, DOGE) are now finally being recognised as the 'legally acceptable' face of crypto. Don't underestimate the need for cryptocurrencies in Africa, or the size of the market, and don't underestimate Kobocoin's presence when it comes to crypto awareness in Africa.

Thanks to the small but loyal KOBO community (true early adopters) for your continued support. Without your support Kobocoin would be nowhere. I am eternally grateful.
