This phone is what I'm talking about when I say super cheap nokia:

http://www.theverge.com/2015/1/5/7493291/Microsoft-nokia-215-cheapest-internet-phone

Quote
"It costs just $29 pre-tax and is aimed at emerging markets, offering customers 29 days of battery life on standby, a dual-SIM option, a built-in torch, and FM Radio. There's also a 2.4-inch, 320 x 240 display, a 0.3-megapixel camera, and Bluetooth connectivity. Crucially, however, Microsoft say the 215 is their "most affordable Internet-ready entry-level phone yet," offering the Opera Mini mobile browser and a limited array of pre-installed apps including Twitter, Facebook, Messenger, and Bing Search."
I guess we'll have to see if it takes off. Our feedback is that people are moving to Android (and iOS). This Microsoft phone might be a bit late to market, but if it garners mass adoption then we'll we'll definitely look into it.

Awesome.

The mozilla and firefox phones also look quite promising for African markets;
http://www.ubuntu.com/phone
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/os/#adaptive-wrapper

I hope these are also considered if they start to catch on in Africa.

EDIT: https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2014/11/04/mozilla-and-gsma-enabling-locally-relevant-content-for-the-next-4-billion-people/
You can see from this link that Mozilla has real long term goals when it comes to third world countries; having Kobocoin be available in some form on these phones could easily propel it into the market.

  • What has the biggest market share in the mobile space in Western Africa? (i.e. Android, iPhone etc)
  • Will Kobocoin target super cheap phones (i.e. the recent Nokia phone that is $37 and can use the internet?) as well as a wide variety of android devices (i.e. wide adoption)?
  • What solution will Kobocoin be implementing to help mobile users? Will you be submitting the coin to preexisting, free wallets such as Coinomi on Android?
Hi, we're not really differentiating between Operating Systems. There's already a wallet developed for Symbian (another coin) so it can be done. At this moment we want to get Android and iOS out (Android this week, hopefully iOS by the end of the month). If a Symbian wallet is also required, then it will be developed. Same for BlackBerryOS.

We'd like to get kobocoins onto as many services and platforms as possible. There are many options, but right now the priority is getting kobocoin onto the exchanges.

Hi! I think Symbian OS is not required, because it is a very old OP system, also Blackberry OS would be very good. (10.x)

I can't get the wallet to sync on windows (0 peers); I can't find any kobocoin.conf file so far (tried appdata/kobocoin)
Hi, try AppData/Roaming/Kobocoin/kobocoin.conf

Thanks,
that worked.

Is the wallet staking or not? It is showing network weight 0 and time to reward 0 seconds?

Is this right?

It seems that POS and POW are not running together. This means that the full complement of planned POW coins (43,200,000) will be issued and that POS will probably kick in after the last POW block as of 43201.
Yes, that's correct.
