Messi paied last year 53 millions of euros to solve it. He will not go to jail, every one knows that financial movements that "he" made to avoid taxes was made for professionals not under its responsability.
Messi won't go to jail, he's too famous, too rich & too big a name. He'll make some kind of dodgy deal to get away with it or they'll hand him a big fine. I'll be surprised if he ends up going to jail.

The news article I read (link: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/oct/09/barcelona-lionel-messi-tax-charges) states that "a court document published on Thursday showed the judge in the case had ruled he must still appear as a defendant and the forward could face up to 22 months in jail if found guilty". I don't know the details, but from the article it doesn't seem he can choose to pay the tax and close the case now.

LOL I don't understand this. Do they even know they are doing this, or this is the doing of the people that manage their assets. They just have no reason to do this, and it's quite common in sports. A similar problem with Felipe Scolari was solved a few weeks ago, when he paid due taxes to Portugal, from the time he was their national coach
