Villareal is really just getting lucky at this point if you ask me, and I can't believe that such team would be doing this badly. I mean we have seen this team try to fight their way into UCL just recently, not too long ago, and this season and now they are 7th in the league for some reason, you would expect them to at least fight for UCL spot this season wouldn't you?

I think they don't have a proper goalscorer right now. Moreno is their star forward and Danjuma also was a player who was scoring lot of goals for them last season. Moreno got injured in middle and Danjuma wasn't handed much chance and now eventually moved to Spurs on loan. Emery also left Villareal for Aston Villa under whom they had lot of success last season and its is hard without him. It is hard to adjust under new direction temporarily but I think they will eventually be back on track after a while.
