Busquet is still helpful depends on how Barcelona use him but Pique is no longer good to use. His time is counting down and I believe he will no longer have chance to play for Barcelona after the season ending.

Pique is older than Busquet and he has more ageing problems too. At centre of a defense system, it is terrible if you are no longer fast enough to follow and constrain your opponental attacking players. In addition, besides Pique it is hard to get other players who are strong and good enough to cover him.

Busquet is helpful in case Barcelona need a central midfielder who can distribute balls and control the intensity of playing. However, he is not good if Barcelona has to hunt for goals to equalize or win a match. Gavi, Pedri and De Jong can be more useful if Barcelona want to find winning goals.

I don't think that anyone is disputing that Cavi did well for Barcelona. Xavi is not a bad coach but I also know that almost every coach can do what Xavi is doing and more with the squad in Barcelona. Xavi could be doing so much for Barcelona but to my assessment he hasn't done much in champions league.
Last season he crashed out of the champions league to Europa and this season the same is happening. Barcelona is not an Europa League club.

FT: Atletico Madrid 1-1 Rayo Vallecano.
