It's been a while since someone posted calculations here Wink

When all the new hardware comes in, how much dividend will 1 share bring in, estimated?

I'm trying to figure this one out.

You guys want to sell your bonds but also want Lab Rat to pay dividends going forward with zero delay.

If you sell your bonds this would be a non issue right >.>

I guess we should be thanking you for the community service you are doing then!

Personally, not only do I not want to sell, I'm looking to buy more  Grin

Nevertheless, I agree with hamburgerhelper that someone looking to maximize the value of the bonds, be it in the short term (for selling) or in the long term (for holding), would consider timely dividend payment a prerequisite. I just think we should be practical about it, and practically, LabRat is doing a very good job all around.

I missed paying out dividends due to family matters yesterday.  It was the one day I haven't worked all day in a very long time.  I would really hope that people could understand this, and to those of you who are not OK with this delay, I apologize and they are going out today.

I agree that building hashing capacity is important (let's assume that this is why Zach missed the payment yesterday). But I disagree that its so important that it should keep the dividend from being paid out as promised. If it was the case that LRM had 500TH, but dividends were paid out every time the Pope saw Halley's Comet, how many new investors do you think LRM would get?

As you'll notice in his first post about the delay, he mentioned that it might happen today or next week. Dividends delivered a week late should never be an option in his mind. The fact that it is caused me to become alarmed. (Yes, he revised it to today in a later post.)

Again, I completely agree, in principle. But in practice, LRM has paid dividends quite regularly, certainly if I compare it to other Bitcoin securities in which I've had the misfortune of investing. He should definitely strive to be completely consistent, but seeing as this is mostly a one-man operation (and a rapidly expanding one, at that), I don't expect 100% accuracy. I would rather he focused on the hashrate and missed a dividend day here and there. Theoretically he could hire someone to take the load of himself and make things like dividend payments work like clockwork, but that would take money which would decrease the company's profit. So if you want to maximize the value of your bonds, I think a one-man operation that works well most of the time is probably the best compromise you can hope for.

I think the things that kept LR so busy this week are going to propel bond prices far beyond petty issues like the day of the week on which dividends are paid.

I mind. The dividend payout day should be held sacrosanct. As I see it, there two important reasons for this:

1) It is central to the agreement between LRM and its "bond" holders. This is about the only thing we have a legal right to - a weekly payout.
2) It is hard enough to these sell bonds as it is. Prospective buyers will read these boards and conclude that sometimes we get the weekly dividend on time, but sometimes Zach's really busy. This does not inspire confidence.

The price of bonds is directly correlated to confidence and low transactional friction (no, your aunt/uncle/grandma is not going to figure out how to sign messages to grnbrg so they can buy shares, and thus liquidity will stay very very low until this changes). For LRM holders, yesterday's missed payout represents a new low in bond sell-ability (technical term).

Zach, I didn't make a stink when you charged a fee for payouts (contrary to the initial terms of bond sales) because it wasn't a big deal. I didn't make a stink when two weeks of new hardware mining turned into 2 weeks for certain equipment and 2+ weeks for other equipment (contrary to the initial terms of bond sales) because it wasn't a big deal. Missing the dividend payout date is a big deal. Please don't do it again.

As an aside, the reason I invested in LRM is because I believed that I would be able to sell my shares more easily than if I spend the equivalent amount on hardware. That hasn't been true for about two months now with no hint that it will change any time soon. Any real news on this? After timely dividend payments, this is my second biggest wish as an investor.

Just home, it's 12:45 (just after midnight)... I think I'll wait til tomorrow to pay out dividends.  I hope no one minds.

While I was out today for a family matter, I happened to overhear someone at the restaurant we ended up at for dinner speaking about BitCoin.  Didn't have the energy to go over and talk to them after everything this past week, but I did speak to the waiter who was passing it on the the owner of the restaurant, and they should now be accepting soon.  It's just good to know that it's spreading everywhere.

Good job LR.. that motivates me even more to keep on doing what I have been:

I've "signed up" a couple of people in the last week.  I get them to download bitcoin wallet to their android device, then send 0.001BTC to give them a feel.  Having people actually take part in a transaction is worth an hour of trying to explain things.  It's really neat to watch their expression change when the coin arrives, after which I can quickly go on to tell them that bitcoin, as a commodity and a currency, is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what it can really do.

The way things seem I will be away from a computer for the vast majority of the day tomorrow.  If need be I may need to postpone dividends until Sunday or the following Saturday.  I will do my best to get them out even if they must be sent tomorrow night instead of ~noon.

No rest in sight still for LR it seems?!

A treat from Lab_Rat:  A couple of pictures from the (nearly complete) new datacentre...

grnbrg.

PS:  No EXIF for you!

Well milady, that's a nice rack you've got here!  Wink

By the way... Each of those racks have 40A run to them and those split units are 2.5 tons a pop.  This is going to be fun to set up.  Grin

That's nice to hear!  Grin
