ultimately i want to try and get the most LTC or BTC i can per month.

then you should NOT use nicehash and like services

May I ask what you propose, please?

I like nicehash, been reliable to me but there are other options, litecoinpool i think pays out 108% because of merge mining and you can also mine other alts that are more profitable on different pools and flip them into btc.

Hi guys,

Just wondering if somebody who has experience can maybe give me some guidance, my L3+ arrives tomorrow and in terms of mining, i see 3 options.

1. A pool - litecoinorg pool - roughly 20 LTC per month

2.Zpool which if I understand mines various coins + sells to give an end LTC value =  looks like 30 LTC per month on average ( read they take 20% but still = 1 per day)

3. Nicehash - not sure exactly how this works but it says 1 L3+ will give an average of 7.8 BTC per year

Could I get some peoples opinions in the know, my end goal is to build up a nice investment of coins. I am not really looking to sell.

OR sell the miner pretty rapid as mentioned earlier, i would like the challenge though, building my own sound insulation box as we speak with ducting.... Grin

Good post....but for me i have 2 options

1)Nicehash

2) Prohashin

would love to hear the feedback on this guys...also thanks in advance

How hard is it to setup on nicehash, my miner arrives tomorrow morning and i want to get it put to work Smiley
prohasin ? that's a new one to me... ultimately i want to try and get the most LTC or BTC i can per month.

not sure how hard it is to setup, but from reading the thread i see guys keep mention nice hash and pro hashing

I misspoke, it's also dependent on the efficiency of your power supply.  From that, you can get pretty close to what a Killawatt can tell you.
Per Bitmain's website: 800W +10% (at the wall, with Bitmain's APW3 PSU, 93% efficiency, 25°C ambient temperature)
It's always a better idea to run your miners with a PSU on 240v rather than 120v.
Is there any benefit running them on 240V vs 120V? I ordered Bitmain's APW3++ PSUs.

Yes, the L3+ on an APW3++ will only draw 750W when using 220+v as apposed to 800W when using 110-120v. I have a YouTube review that is a work in progress (not publicly listed) that shows this difference here:

your video was awesome sir...you answered most of my questions from that single video....

You are pulling less amps from the breaker panel which means you can run multiple rigs on a single breaker.  Also many PSUs are optimized for 240v so they run cooler and more efficiently.  All this adds up to lesser chance of fire.

But to make 240V you have to use 2 breaker slots instead of 1 so it's the same in that sense, no?

I just started a comparison between mining litecoin directly using litecoinpool.org with 1 L3+ and mining other altcoins using prohashing.com with another L3+. I REALLY want to like ProHashing since it's so much more profitable so I'm hoping I have a better experience than you guys did. I've had each miner running for 19 hours 20 minutes and thus far I've earned 1.06ltc on ProHashing.com (auto-exchanging alt-coins for litecoin) and 0.545ltc on Litecoinpool.org.

I agree that ProHashing does seem to be profitable, when it's not down.

I'm on zpool now. So far I'm seeing similar profitability but no significant downtime and no drama.

But zpool isn't only for X11?

No. It supports a ton of algorithms, including Scrypt.

That's very interesting, so your nearly 50% up vs a dedicated pool for litecoin...

Pro hashing is super unreliable. They advertise good rates, but in reality your mining on your backup pools 50% of the time.

I have to agree. I wanted to like ProHasing, but finally gave up because they can't seem to keep the pool running reliably.

Some other nits that bother me about ProHashing:

  • The pool web UI is overly fancy, prone to odd data failures (requiring logging out and back in again), and is mobile unfriendly.
  • The idle miner email notification is broken and sends tons of false alarms.

I ended up moving to another pool.
agreed prohashing was awesome for me a couple months ago, but this last month it has simply been broken constantly, glad my baikals would auto switch to backup p2p dash pools

That's a very large difference . . to the point I might bump it to priority and even if its down 3/4 of the time. . . which it usually is lol it could still end up being more profitable
