The Error re: 1/10th oz Gold-Select Rainbow coins

During the gold-select plating process the rainbow color was obscured. This is considered an error because it was unintentional and did not come out to specification or expectation. All of the coins were affected to my knowledge.


The Error Certificate

The coin’s error certificate will be entitled the “DOUBLE RAINBOW ERROR COIN” given that the original rainbow was interfered with during the gold-select production.  The mint will sign off on this error certificate and will be provided to all orders of Rainbow Gold-Select coins in addition to the certificate already produced for these coins. All rainbow gold-select coins will come with TWO certificates.

Q: Why is it called a double rainbow error coin?
A: Because the rainbow effect had to be added to the coins twice (once before gold-select plating and once after, retroactively).

Retroactive Rainbow (Front & Back)

Unbeknownst to me initially, I was able to find a method by pure accident (with a little bit of experimentation) to retroactively add the rainbow on to the surface of the coins. There may be some alignment issues, as no coin is perfect.


Timeline

In order for me to retroactively get the rainbow back on to each coin’s surfaces, I will need approximately 7-9 days to do this process.

On top of the 7-9 days for retroactive rainbow addition, I will need about 4 days to get the “double rainbow error” certificates generated, printed, cut, approved by the mint, etc.

The work I normally do on the coins will take about 7 days.

Total time will be to get them to USPS will be 18-20 days. (~ February 26th-28th).

This is my target ship date, or sooner for orders with the rainbow gold-select 1/10th versions.


Regular Gold-Select coins

The regular Gold-Select coin types have arrived also, they look pretty much identical to the rainbow error versions. You can tell the difference between the two as the regular Gold-select does not have any additional textures on the back (i.e. reverse) of the coin.

Assuming you have no other pending orders that have rainbow gold-select coins, the regular gold-select coins will ship be able to be shipped in 10-12 days from now.


What I need from customers who ordered gold-select rainbow 1/10th oz coins:

1. Do you want the “ERROR” text laser etched on to your gold-select rainbow coin’s holo?
Note - it will be an all or nothing situation. Either all of them have "ERROR" on them or none of them do.

2. Do you want an error certificate?

3. Are you funding the coins or not? (i.e. "BUYER FUNDED" marked hologram for unfunded coins)

4. Please send me a confirmation message/PM/email of your FULL shipping address in case I don’t already have it.

5. Please include your REAL first and last name for shipping purposes. First and Last name is required for shipments as you will be required to show ID to sign and receive the package.

The error is on the finish yes as the rainbow got obscured during the gold-select process.

Noted on the holo saying error. Will make another post with all the details on the COA, error, etc given how much of an adventure this process has been!

Yeah pre sales and trailblazers sometimes go hand-in-hand. Experimentation is good when you push the boundaries of what other's have only scratched the surface on.

Yeah, have your vendor re-do those, offer a substitution of another style or refund me.  That gold select rainbow looks soooo bad.  Surely this isn’t something you want your customers to receive.

What Yoda is trying to say - some collectors want beautiful rainbow coins as they want to keep them in their collection and display them. Others - may enjoy being able to use the “error” label to price them a little higher on their flips. Some may enjoy both. I’m just hopeful the 1 oz coin looks better as I am jealous of how great the full gold plated rainbow ones look. Ahhhh the joys of pre sales

You want mine? Seriously… I’d rather have a refund on my rainbow gold select 1/10 honestly.  I don’t want a coin that’s an error bc it looks like shit.  That or sub me out for a non-rainbow please!

I’d def take all the ones in the coins I bought in this release as “error” coins. Never hurts to have a good COA certified lealana error coin!

Is the "ERROR" on the finish? How many have Errors?* My vote is for the holo to say Error....not many say that, and let's face it, errors have been made over the years, multiple makers with no indications of that fact, directly on the coins. Should increase the values of them, I would guess.  **ERROR on the holograms, my vote.  

*** Won't hurt the value of Smooth's stuff, been doing Top Shelf work for years. Can't control the Mint's goof, production error. And most of us would like to get these little gems in our hot little hands, hubba hubba chop chop. 

Is this just the 1/10s rainbow gold selects or will it be like that on the 1 oz version as well?
