Will give it back to you after I earned some from other faucets.
That's OK... it's not expected nor required. In fact I'd suggest sending it to one of the TestNet faucets or perhaps "paying it forward" to another user that would like to experiment... The more people that benefit from being able to "test" and experiment the better as far as I'm concerned.

Usually just using legacy on testnet to be honest, as it's an old Electrum testnet wallet and I've just never bothered to move the coins! Tongue

I've sent you 0.1 tBTC to have a play with.

Hello mate, did received the 0.1tBTC on my segwit testnet address thanks for this. I now transfer half of it on my native testnet address for trial purposes. Its cool that we can used mobile device for transaction too on ledger live app. I am now surfing some cool activity for testnet and faucet too. It's like an interesting hub to play with using an actual bitcoin replicate model without monetary value. But on ledger it has value same as BTC Grin

Will give it back to you after I earned some from other faucets.Vires in Numeris

Actually, after complementing the Ledger Nano S to Ledger Live using my laptop, I also install the Ledger Live app on my Android and I used the "Set up an initialized device"after connecting the HW to the app using OTG to make sure that I can still view my coins. Is that okay?
That's the correct method to have the same wallets visible on both phone and computer.

I also managed to verify and install the Electrum on my laptop. The things is, I just install the bitcoin application on my ledger and did not bother on creating a bitcoin address (account) using ledger live app because I was able to verify the receiving address that is shown in Electrum using the HW wallet. Does it mean that I can now receive crypto using Electrum without having a Ledger Live bitcoin account?
Yes, you can now send and receive bitcoin using Electrum as an interface. Ledger Live and Electrum use the same default derivation paths, so you should be able to later mirror the same addresses from Electrum to Ledger Live on your computer or phone simply by adding a bitcoin account in Ledger Live.

Also, does electum support testnet?
Yes. Run it with the startup option --testnet. Alternatively, since you said in another post you are running Windows, if you install Electrum (as opposed to using the standalone), it will also install "Electrum Testnet" at the same time.

Hello everyone, I received my hardware wallet yesterday and I just finished initializing the hardware wallet now. So far, there is no issue that I have encountered when I am connecting the Ledger to Ledger Live for my Altcoins (XRP, ETH) and to Electrum for my BTC holdings.

I just want to ask if I did the right thing. Actually, after complementing the Ledger Nano S to Ledger Live using my laptop, I also install the Ledger Live app on my Android and I used the "Set up an initialized device"after connecting the HW to the app using OTG to make sure that I can still view my coins. Is that okay?

The things is, I just install the bitcoin application on my ledger and did not bother on creating a bitcoin address (account) using ledger live app because I was able to verify the receiving address that is shown in Electrum using the HW wallet. Does it mean that I can now receive crypto using Electrum without having a Ledger Live bitcoin account?

Also, does electum support testnet?

by the way there is an option on the setting regarding reset on the ledger. Is that for resetting the installed apps (bitcoin, eth, xrp) to zero or even the 24 phrase generated will be nullified and gonna use it like a new set up again which will start from beginning and will give you again new pass phrase?

If you pick that option device will be reset to factory settings, which means it will be in the same condition you got when you bought it. Then you have the option to do a recovery with seed, or to generate a new seed. If you want to remove an individual application, then simply do it via Ledger Live - and you can also bring it back the same way (your coins stay on Ledger even if you remove app).

For more info visit this link -> https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017582434-Reset-to-factory-settings

Ledger also has the option to check seeds that are not generated on the Nano S (if you use a seed from say Electrum - 12 words), but in case you want to check Ledger generated seed, then only option is to select 24 words as option.
Now I get it. I thought my idea was to shorter the generated phrase from the ledger itself. Its also can be used for other bitcoin wallet like electrum thank you so much mate. Now its crystal clear, by the way there is an option on the setting regarding reset on the ledger. Is that for resetting the installed apps (bitcoin, eth, xrp) to zero or even the 24 phrase generated will be nullified and gonna use it like a new set up again which will start from beginning and will give you again new pass phrase?

It may seem a bit confusing at first, but it is important that you have checked/verified all words, and that Ledger has an app with which this can be done. Before that app existed, the only way to perform a check was to reset the device, and then re-enter the seed and check that in both cases the addresses are identical.

Hello @HCP, done with all the process I even add already adding bitcoin testnet. I will send you a PM as you promised for some tBTC  Grin it has two bitcoin types segwit and native segwit too. Usually what are you using?

Ive used only my mobile app using ledger live to do all steps.

Also check the correctness of all words after you generate them, better to be 100% sure than to have problems in the future -> Recovery Check.
Hello mate, done with the recovery check. I was nervous that when I choose the recovery phrase of 12 its not working, did it twice so my confusion, wth is the problem. Then I shifted again the process thru 24 phrase, to my suprise it work and confirm. So there is an option to choose a 12 and 18 phrase from the start as your seed phrase? On my mind I thought, it was a shorten version of the process cause its done manually but I got wrong for two consecutive trial for 12 phrase but when I tried the complete 24 it got accepted. Weird I hope Im right.

Hope you got it soon mate. As lonh you contact the DHL support on Philippines to locate and know the product status Im sure it will be immediately processed.

Hello guys wanna share my ordered ledger nano S arrived as scheduled even with covid situation here.
I wish I am too. My order got stuck up in our country due to restrictions even though we are on a Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine. I've also made contact to their DHL local support hoping that it will give immediate action to my concern.

P.S. I've erased the tracking number
P.S.Today is the deadline of their estimated date

I am glad the shipment arrived in a relatively short time, and that you took advantage of this really nice discount. I hope that the customs costs were not too high and that you will now store your crypto in a much safer way than before. But still keep in mind that even though you use a hardware wallet, seed backup is something you have to take very seriously. Also check the correctness of all words after you generate them, better to be 100% sure than to have problems in the future -> Recovery Check.

I've only given these a quick skim, but they seem to be giving accurate and sensible advice. Having said that, the full "Hodl Guide" is quite complicated and probably beyond the scope of what you want to set up as a first time user. The "Hodl Guide Light" for using your Ledger device with Electrum is more than enough for the majority of users. There's also a guide on how to do this direct from Ledger themselves: https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005161925-Set-up-and-use-Electrum

Bitcoin Testnet. Activate, experience it, but don't trade and get scammed. - Is this guide a good reference to follow when setting up a testnet? I see that this is only applicable for bitcoin core testnet  Huh
For the Ledger no... you basically just need to go into the Settings in "Ledger Live" and enable "Developer Options"...

Click the "cog" in the top right corner:

Click on "Experimental Features":

Then turn on "Developer mode":

Once you've done that, you should be able to see BTC Testnet in the Manager:

Install the App on your device and you'll then be able to create a BTC Testnet account within Ledger Live. From there, it basically works the same as any other Ledger account, so you can get your receive address and then hit up a Testnet faucet to get a small amount of tBTC (or hit me up Wink)

I'm pretty sure it won't get stuck in the DHL center (Germany), because a couple of days ago I had one shipment that passed through Germany very quickly. It all depends on your customs, but in the case of express shipments and services like DHL it should go pretty fast.
Hi youre right, based on tracker its already on Hongkong and being updated now in Custom Philippines, this is where Im sure delayed will probably start. We have a lousy protocol on our custom unlike most countries.

Thanks, Im on it already. Haha my hands are itchy already with the device.

So, now Nano S costs €59 with VAT included. So, with 50% discount it will cost €29.5 - it's bargain. Even with delivery fee added, it's very cheap.
@cryptoaddictchie, there may be little delay in delivery.
Early christmas presence. I planned it for this year and a wish come true already. Yeah I anticipated delay already but DHL moves pretty quickly the problem most likely will come from our home turf.

Here ya' go! Waiting for another email when it will going to arrive  Grin

Furthermore, I came across some good tutorials on how to secure your crypto by combining Ledger Nano S and Electrum. I might going to follow these tutorial respectively whenever I feel to increase the security of my funds,

https://github.com/DriftwoodPalace/guides/blob/master/hodl-guide-light/README.md

Do you think these are good references?

Thank you again, sorry for this inquiry Ive just feeling excited when the product arrived and wanna know some details ahead, so when I try it, at least I do know the stuff to use it properly.
The best piece of advice I can give you, is to "play" with your hardware wallet before you commit funds to it.

Get comfortable with generating a wallet, restoring a wallet, setting up a passphrase and/or secondary PIN, installing apps, uninstalling apps, using the seed check app to confirm you have the correct seed mnemonic etc... maybe even enable "developer mode" and install the Bitcoin Testnet app so you can test sending and receiving transactions without fear of losing any "real" money.

@cryptoaddictchie, there may be little delay in delivery. People in lockdown now buying most stuff online instead of going to physical stores, so it's bussy time for logistics companies like DHL - it's like Christmas period. But if you will receive your wallet few days later than supposed, I don't think will be big issue Wink.
By the way, Is there any alternative to Ledger OTG Kit? Wanted to ask this question badly before checking out. $15 is a lot from me  Grin
Well, I use OTG cable from Aliexpress for $0.5, and it works fine. So, you don't have to buy it from Ledger store.

Based on the timeframe I think I can received it on the 6th day. I just hope it would not be clogged or stucked on DHL center here in our country or custom warehourse.

I'm pretty sure it won't get stuck in the DHL center (Germany), because a couple of days ago I had one shipment that passed through Germany very quickly. It all depends on your customs, but in the case of express shipments and services like DHL it should go pretty fast.

So excited to receive it. This will be my first hardware wallet. Looks like, I need to read a lot on how to set it up properly.

In fact, it is very easy because there is a step-by-step tutorial on the official site, and while you wait for your device to arrive, you can study everything in detail and be ready to set up your wallet.
