If your Ledger device is not connected to your phone then the app essentially becomes a watch-only wallet. You can view your accounts and balances, and you can generate receiving addresses, although you will be met with a warning that any addresses generated without your hardware wallet connected can not be verified. You will not be able to make any transactions without connecting your hardware wallet.
Hi thank you for expounding. So without connecting the it directly to the hardwallet the app works like a portfolio tracker with your funds into it. Anyway, I understand clearly. Thank you again, sorry for this inquiry Ive just feeling excited when the product arrived and wanna know some details ahead, so when I try it, at least I do know the stuff to use it properly.

Does it work if the micro usb plug is not connected on ledger if you have the app? Or still need to connect in order to do such transaction everytime? Cause they have a Ledger Live mobile app. Or it can be done on the app as long you sync in already the wallet of thr ledger device?

If the app was able to make transactions on its own without the hardware wallet connected, then that would mean that your private keys were no longer stored in the hardware wallet and were instead stored in the mobile app, making the mobile app no better than any other mobile wallet. The whole point of the hardware wallet is the private keys never leave it, so the coins accessed by those keys cannot be moved unless the hardware wallet is connected.

For delivery, it depends on which deliverer is in question (DHL is very fast), but 3-5 days is perhaps a slightly over-optimistic estimate for your country - it takes 4 days for me in EU last year. But be sure that the shipment will arrive, and when you get the tracking number you will be able to track it.
Based on the timeframe I think I can received it on the 6th day. I just hope it would not be clogged or stucked on DHL center here in our country or custom warehourse.

So excited to receive it. This will be my first hardware wallet. Looks like, I need to read a lot on how to set it up properly.

Most OTG "cables" (adapters) that I've found for sale end in a standard USB-A Socket (female) like a regular USB port... that's one "advantage" of the Ledger ones I guess, is that they have the micro-USB plug on the end that connects directly to the Ledger device.

By the way, Is there any alternative to Ledger OTG Kit? Wanted to ask this question badly before checking out. $15 is a lot from me  Grin
Yes, I got OTG cables from AliExpress... they were around US$1 (or less) including free international shipping (at least to my location). Tongue

I had a MicroUSB to USB Female for my old phone... and now I have a USB-C to USB Female for my current phone:

The beauty of these is that they're fairly compact, and work by simply plugging in the "normal" data cable you use with the Ledger. I've tested them with the Trezor ONE that I have as well. Both work fine.

It can be USB Type-C cable, USB Type-A cable or Micro-USB cable, and on other end it is always Micro-USB (Nano S).

I think you can go a lot cheaper if you buy an OTG cable at one of your local stores, and maybe you already have it at home. This Ledger Kit actually covers all the possibilities that can arise from the fact that smartphones have different ports, but you can buy just one OTG cable which will suit to your smartphone. It can be USB Type-C cable, USB Type-A cable or Micro-USB cable, and on other end it is always Micro-USB (Nano S).

I have a USB Type-C female port in my mobile phone and I think this will work in my Ledger once it arrives. Grin

Ops, I got it but I dont know why it was on the spam mail. Anyway at least it did confirm my order.
I hope it did arrived as mentioned it will for 3 to 5 business days.

Ledger is sending a lot of e-mails, and I also notice that sometimes their e-mails end up in the spam. You're welcome guys. I hope that the purchase will be successful and that the delivery will be within a reasonable time so that you can use your devices as soon as possible.
Hello mate done with the purchased. I am wondering cause no email yet to me or acknowledgement that I already bought it. They should email right like giving me the tracking number for DHL express. Ops, I got it but I dont know why it was on the spam mail. Anyway at least it did confirm my order.

I hope it did arrived as mentioned it will for 3 to 5 business days.

The last time I check is I think more or less PHP 1,000.
Thanks Maus0728, I do hope it will be less than that. Cause the shipping fee already cause me Php 1,000, good thing the 50 off helps a lot.

Wow, this seems to be the opportunity I have been waiting for.  Wink
does anyone know, is it possible to buy Ledger and to send it as a gift, where the value does not have to be specified or indicated some symbolic amount?
it matters to me because of the complicated duty in my country.

When I bought the Nano X last year, no price was indicated on the package, only that contents of package is USB key. Maybe it's because the shipment goes within the EU, so there is no need for customs. For more information, it is best to contact Ledger directly, although you should be aware that this offer is only valid for one week, and the answer may not arrive within that period.

Hello @Lucius thanks for the information, I just know this because of this post of you. Anyway its gonna be available until May 17th so I can do some order before it ends. So glad that 50% off promo is on.

LOL! Thank you very much @Lucius. This is the time I am waiting for.
Thanks for the heads up! Been planning this for a very long time.

Any idea how much cost for custom duties for this if gonna shipped to Philippines?
The last time I check is I think more or less PHP 1,000.

LOL! Thank you very much @Lucius. This is the time I am waiting for. Well, I don't usually visit this board because I do not feel confident in answering the question posted by newbies, but here I am exploring technicalities of bitcoin, wallet and other related stuff.

Thanks for the heads up! Been planning this for a very long time.

I don't think this is possible from the official store. If I recall correctly, they simply ship it with the documented values. Maybe you could try and contact them and ask if they can help you out?

Seems a bit harsh that you'll incur duties on something that only cost around US$40+shipping Undecided

$40+shipping is more than $50, which is limit without duty. Duties can cost me +$50 extra. fucking government.
For example, when I buy Trezor, I paid for it $79 + shipping. In the end, they cost me around $145. It's double almost. It is not a big money, but I have a feeling I have been robbed.

Not sure how much it actually cost but it varies from each country. They have suggested that it's best to contact local customs agency.

2/ Customs fees
Orders ship from our warehouse in Vierzon, France. In case of delivery outside the European Union, additional taxes may apply.
Amounts of customs fees vary from country to country. For more details, please contact your local customs service!

For all those who were waiting for the right opportunity to buy the Ledger Nano S, I think this discount is a real hit not only because of the 50% off, but also because of the current BTC price (if you use it as a payment option). Is there a better way to celebrate halving than to get a hardware wallet Wink

I like it though if Nano X would be on this product sale too but do you think guys its not big deal right? Nano S still work like good as the brand new model except with thr bluetooth.

I have received this email and Ledger is doing it right. Using the right keywords at affordable prices exactly just during the halving trend.

Don't forget the code: WEARETHEBULLRUN

That's the promo code that they emailed and it's visible to the website, not a referral code of mine.
