It's not available to me. I'm not sure where are you from but I'm from the MENA region. I tried to use a VPN and change my IP to a Romanian, U.S, and German one but nothing is showing.

Edit: This must be a joke. It appears that the payment methods are based on my physical address. In other words, it's impossible to pay for the invoice using Crypto.com unless I ship the wallet to one of the supported countries.

You could always ask someone to buy it and reship it for you? But yes, that is pretty fucking fucked. I was able to pay with Crypto.com and used my PO box as to not leak any details to Ledger.

I would solve it by paying with PP, when it doesn't go the other way. If you really want to pay HW with BTC, you can sell a certain amount directly for PP and thus pay it to Ledger. Of course, assuming you have a PP account, and you find someone on the forum to trade BTC - PP.

Did you try the "crypto.com Pay" option? or was it not available to you? Huh

The only option I have to pay with (in crypto) is BitPay but whenever I'm redirected to the invoice, it says that I need to login and verify my identity.  Am I missing something here?

I just tried it (with dummy data, to order a Nano S) and it gives me the option to pay using BTC without requiring anything other than an (unverified) email address.

(note: click the "Other Cryptocurrency wallets" option)

I don't see anything good in their recent amateurish behavior with faulty batteries and bad updates.
What's been happening with the Nano X model is awful. My personal opinion is that it's being done on purpose by a group of dissatisfied or unqualified workers who are assembling the devices. Those battery hardware problems weren't there in the beginning. I think they started appearing after those database leaks. Ledger was probably hit financially as a result of those leaks. With the pandemic and lose of reputation, they aren't generating the profits they did in the previous years. Again this is my opinion. As a consequence, they either had to let some of their people go or lower the wages of those still working on the devices. Like in every company that goes through financial difficulties, it's not going to be the directors who feel it, it will hit those at the bottom working the assembly line.

It is breaking many things if you are using any shitcoins, and I have ledger reddit to confirm that.
That's good. It means Ledger is doing their part in convincing people to not use shitcoins and stick with bitcoin.

Seriously though, I think we have established in the past that Ledger Live and Ledger were never meant to be used as a wallet to store hundreds and even dozens of altcoins and tokens. Many issues occur due to various ERC-20 tokens. For those you have MetaMask, MEW, etc. I can only mention my own experience which involves never keeping more than 4-5 different assets on the device with no serious issues to report. If the problem was that widespread, I seriously doubt that I just got lucky or that God watches over me and protects me from software bugs.

I think that's a bit exaggerated. They messed up big time with the database leakages, but they aren't the first nor the last company that will have their site/database hacked. Future events can't be predicted based on what happened in the past.
That is my own opinion, history often times repeats itself and I don't see anything good in their recent amateurish behavior with faulty batteries and bad updates.
If you want I am willing to make a public bet with you (in Bitcoin) that more information will be leaked from them in 2022 or 2023 by ''accident'' or some ''cyber attack hack''.
You can't run a serious company like a village circus and expect any security for customer information.

I have had the Nano S for years and have never experienced the firmware breaking anything.
It is breaking many things if you are using any shitcoins, and I have ledger reddit to confirm that.
Do your own research and don't trust my words.

I think that Ledger is just a closed source honeypot so purchasing it online almost guarantees that your email, home address and all other private information will be ''leaked'' and exposed in future like it happened before.
I think that's a bit exaggerated. They messed up big time with the database leakages, but they aren't the first nor the last company that will have their site/database hacked. Future events can't be predicted based on what happened in the past. I hope for the sake of everyone that a similar leak won't happen to a different hardware wallet producer. Somehow it seems to have become personal for you. Or maybe that's the feeling I am getting from reading your posts when Ledger is being mentioned. I hope I will never have to find out if you would attack other manufacturers the same way because that would mean another big leak happened somewhere.

Using PO boxes or alternative addresses for delivery might be a better option, or even better is using official local resellers like Pmalek suggested.
It sure is. If you can set something like that up, it's better than delivering valuable items that have to do with crypto and your financials to your doorstep.

Good luck with ledger and be ready for their crappy firmware updates that break more stuff than they fix, especially for X version.
OmegaStarScream is buying a Nano S. I have had the Nano S for years and have never experienced the firmware breaking anything. One upgrade did wipe the device and reset it to factory settings. Each new update takes up more space from the already limited internal memory, but that's the compromise you have to make for buying the cheaper and older version. I still think the Nano S is better than the X model for various reasons: No battery, charging issues, Bluetooth, and the most recent problems with pin connectors or overheating you made the community aware of.

That's unfortunate. You speak Arabic so I assume you are located in a Middle Eastern country. Of course, I could be wrong. But if you are, maybe you can check with one of their official resellers for the Middle East.

Janbal LTD and Phoenix World Electronic Trading LLC are both mentioned as part of the Ledger network and are located in the United Arab Emirates. You can check the resellers from other locations just in case you reside somewhere else. It's not the same as purchasing directly from the manufacturer, but it's an option worth considering.

I don't have Trezor T, but the difference may not be big and they seem to not use BitPay for crypto payments.
It may be another direction worth thinking on...

(Unfortunately I don't remember if I paid with crypto or fiat for my Nano S back when I've bought it)

Yeah, BitPay requires KYC for the payments.

-SNIP-

I was aware of all of this, but I always managed to use a BIP71 decoder or continue as a guest since the goods were not expensive :/

So I decided to get the ledger nano S, but apparently, there is no easy way to do it?

The only option I have to pay with (in crypto) is BitPay but whenever I'm redirected to the invoice, it says that I need to login and verify my identity.  Am I missing something here?

I didn't make an account yet, but I'm assuming this means KYC:

Code:
Due to European regulatory requirements, one-time customer verification is now required for all cryptocurrency payments.

I would have to agree with Pmalek... if it's an ERC-20 token, I'd be inclined to stick with something like Metamask or MEW or MyCrypto. You can still use them in conjuction with a hardware wallet like a Nano S/X or a Trezor ONE/T, but they are much better equipped to deal with ETH/ERC-20 related matters.

If those altcoins that you have are ERC-20 tokens (I am assuming they are since you mentioned MetaMask), I think you are better off keeping them in your MetaMask wallet. You can always check https://www.ledger.com/supported-crypto-assets to see if Ledger supports the assets you own.

dkbit98 is correct when he mentioned various issues we have seen in the past when there are too many coins in your Ledger portfolio. A user in our Croatian local board couldn't access or do anything with his Ledger Ethereum account for a long time because it couldn't sync with the network. The culprit was a token he had in his account there. It took a while before Ledger fixed the problem. dkbit98 maybe remembers more details about that particular case?!

Now regarding Ledger nano limited memory, I was aware of that but when does that happen exactly?

The Nano S has always been limited in storage, just as is the case with the Nano X - there is always some upper limit. The space to install multiple apps began to shrink as stand-alone apps became larger in size, and each new firmware began to take up more and more storage.

Do you need to install the Ethereum app in order to use Ledger with MetaMask for example? or you're basically not consuming any memory if using the HW with third-party software?!

It is impossible to use Ledger HW with any UI without having the app installed on the device, otherwise it would not be possible to communicate on the relation Device -> Ledger Live / MetaMask.

The information on these links may be useful :

With ledger nano s you have capacity of only 144kb that is enough for up to six apps, Bitcoin app is around 40kb, ethereum app is 50kb, so you need to install all those apps to use any third party wallet.
Please note that metamask + ledger connection currently have a lot of problems when used for ethereum, probably connected with that EIP update and fact that metamask is very slow with their own updates.

The reason why I want to switch to Ledger is that I want to start holding some alts that are not currently supported by Trezor. I currently own the old model so a few new alts are not supported and won't be, there is the Model T but it's a bit expensive.
I am not interested in keeping any new altcoins on ledger because they are causing so much problems, and you can check ledger reddit page to see many people complaining how they can't send their shitcoins.
Just few examples:

Yes, you need to install for that indeed the (Ledger) Ethereum app onto your Nano S. And that stands for each separate coin, basically (including Bitcoin)
I didn't use Metamask, but in MEW, at least I remember I've set something extra (in the ledger) and all the tokens I wanted were also supported (since they are on ETH network), but I didn't use that for quite long time now.

Something to pay attention to if you decide to buy Nano X, customers are warned that the time to send the shipment is as much as three weeks, which means that they do not have enough devices in stock (at least not those who have no battery issues). There is no such warning for the Nano S.

It seems that there is some kind of discount on Nano X which is obviously part of the affiliate program and is shared privately.
