And we would like to see adoption, but we don´t have infrastructe for it, exchanges are being hacked on they are scamming their users so easily, just like BCNEX for example. We need to build strong and safe infrastructure that would attract more people into this dangerous sector.  Wink
many places of exchange have experienced cases like this, they only see a momentary profit so that places of exchange like BCNEX scam traders who have assets there, whereas if they can be a place of exchange that has a long time then they will have a good reputation and can get many advantages of traders.

After all that you have said is true and many of us for whatever reason have left our crypto assets in exchanges. It is undoubtedly a danger to hold crypto assets on exchanges and at any time we may lose our life time income. I warn myself and I hope everyone will be alert.
This is a reminder so that everyone knows that we have to keep our crypto in our personal wallet after exchanging.

This is really serious. These cases also keeps me thinking how safety it is to keep funds on exchanges since even those one never expected to get hacked always get hacked. It's really wise one keeps his or her funds on several exchanges and not just one and it's more best one also safe via fiat to avoid getting hot totally. This keeps me scared the more but how good it is that some exchanges so recover by paying back investors while some doesn't.

Im sad that i still have some coins on cryptopia exchange when they has been hacked.
Fortunately i don't have much amount of coins there.
We should not saving coins too much on exchanges because the risk is always there, we don't own the wallet.
Very common to every traders not to store that much investment from any exchange. It's better to keep your money inside your own wallet and only store amount of assets that you need to use whenever you do your trading. The risk is too high as mentioned since every hackers are eyeing to any opportunities that will lead them to penetrate the exchange.

The list is very nice to remind all crypto users not to store their coins in exchanges. Also, it shows that even top exchanges like BNB can't avoid hacking incidents from scammers.

And if all crypto exchanges will create their own SAFU (Secure Asset Fund for Users) account like what Binance have, at least in case something happens, like hacking, malware attacks or any of that kind, they are ready to compensate their clients and will not be bankrupt in the process.

The exchange hacks list has been updated.
Code:
Added in list:
DragonEx
OKEX
EtherDelta
Has Okex been attacked before? Why have I never heard of this news, have I missed it. Okex is a leading exchange in this market and I also often use it to buy some altcoins. If it is really hacked, I feel scared of the exchanges in this market

OKEx was hacked in 2017 and hacked 200 Bitcoins within one hour from a German IP. We know 200 Bitcoin was around $4M of that time in value. In my experience, most of the exchanges has been hacked either once or twice. It is a regret that Exchange hack is now a common fact and investors trade now in risk.
As far as I know etherdelta should be included on the list caused by it's a DNS hack. ED lost nothing caused by this hack but people were being fallen to the phishing that already created by scammer us ED DNS.
I remember when okex gets hacked and this exchange is doing good right now with its security

indeed it is very dangerous if we save too much money that we save in exchange. because we cannot fully hold and control the assets we have. Moreover, the funds we save are exchanged above $ 10,000. This is of course very high risk to be hacked

Thanks for information. We know that exchange hack in the last 2 years has been a common matter but it has put huge negative pressure on crytomarkets. When exchange hack news comes, cryptomarket got dump but only binance exchange hack didn't put any impact on price.

I never had this kind of information. If all information is right than looks like every top exchange got the hacking test. After any protect you took always hack problem still exists, we only safe in blockchain. We're not safe any more if we send money to exchange where we have no control.

The level at which exchanges are been hacked shows that any exchange can be hacked irrespective of the level of the security. We all need to be careful the way we keep our assets on exchanges.

And it goes on and on, Indeed i must say thank you and wish a lot of people will come across it therefore knowing that no matter how advanced, attractive or good an exchange is, it is still susceptible to hacking which is really disturbing. In essence, saving of funds on exchanges is a very very bad idea and this list of hacked exchanges just proved it right. Nevertheless, even at this, one thing stands out and that is, despite all these hacks, the crypto space is still moving forward which shows that it is solving a pressing human need, which is the advancement of cryptocurrencies.

According to the list, Bithumb Exchange has the weakest security, since the exchange was hacked 3 times and totally had lost the biggest amount (if we dont count Mt.Gox). Despite all this, the exchange still works... I wonder who has so much trust to Bithumb and why choose to trade there?

I believe the exchange is has got good insurance, else, such number of hacks is enough to make it run bankrupt and I guess those who lost fund initially have got a replacement.
However, you never can tell if there will be a serious hack, which will take the exchnage to a point of no return and that is why keeping one's fund on exchnage is not advisable.
When Binance was hacked, it was then I knew no exchange can escape it and the only precaution is to save most fund sin private wallet, most especially hardware wallet.

But if comparing Binance and Bithumb, Binance will never be at point of no return, as it has created SAFU fund and transfer part of Binance profit there. In case Binance got hacked again, they will replace every users loss.

In case you are interested or dont know what SAFU is, here is the link https://www.binance.vision/glossary/secure-asset-fund-for-users.
