thanks c4n10.  Winter's comin', and if i can manage the noise factor, the wife might let me put a HP server in my home office...8 x quadcore Opteron....should be able to generate some decent KHash for LTC with that..

if not in the office, i'll slap together a moisture resistant plexibox and stick it on the balcony.

pooler-cpuminer for cpu and reaper 13 beta 4 for gpu worked for me

also, on the LTC mniing hardware comparison, is the KH rating on cpu's per core, or total for that cpu?  ie, mine should get around 35KHash total?

The ratings on the comparison are totals for the cpu rather than per core.

looking for a little advice on how to do CPU mining for LTC and GPU mining for BTC on the same rig without choking off one or the other...

Tried ScryptGUI with my PhenomII X6 1055T (3.5Ghz, 6 cores), but was only getting around 12KHash.  trouble is, it was pegging my CPU at 99%, which seemed to make my hashrate in GUIMiner drop from ~200MHash to about 2MHash...

any tips?

Best setup I have found for using cpu and gpu is to use pooler's cpuminer for cpu and ckolivas' cgminer or Reaper for the GPU. But if you're getting good results with GUI Miner you can use that with CPUMiner as well.

hey i got it. getting 84khash which is same as my cpu was getting

Was it the -w 256 and thread concurrency of 8192 that did it for you?

Anone need 680 mining,
follow steps here: http://ltc.kattare.com/gettingstarted.php

along with these settings:
worksize 576, aggression 15, threads_per_gpu 1, sharethreads 8, lookup_gap 2, gpu_thread_concurrency 8192

Also, try setting the thread-concurrency to 1536 and increase in multiples of 1536 (3072, 4608, etc...) until you find which value works best for you.

still about 10Khash

I'm going to go out on a limb here and venture a guess that you are trolling me. Surely a Hero Member has been around long enough to know how to work cgminer and knows that the gtx 680 isn't going to be all that great for mining...

680 92khash/s

Ok, try adding "-w 256" and change the thread-concurrency to 8192

gtx 680

Nvidia's aren't very good for mining. I don't know what a gtx 680 is supposed to get on litecoin but I wouldn't expect more than about 80 KH/s from it at peak performance.

You can adjust the intensity in the .bat file, simply edit it with notepad and change the intensity to a higher number up to 10.

Also change the gpu-threads value, try 1, 2 and 4 - see which works best.

4 threads dont help

Then try 1 or 2 and use the one that works best.

Try the CPUMinerLTC easy launcher in my "BTC/LTC Newbie Tools for Windows" package: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/btcltc-newbie-tools-for-windows-updated-10152012-113707

Instructions are in the included "README".

still seems difficult. i got cpu mining. now i want my gpu mining

Use the cgminerLTC.bat launcher in that same package. Instructions are in the "README" file.

my hashrate is very slow

what is your card?
