It sounds insane to think it could jump to $5k. However the market is very irrational so I would not be surprised

I think Litecoin is very undervalued at the moment. While it was created as a clone/backup of bitcoin with 4 times the number of max coins, Litecoin has had improvements like Segwit and still has it's main developer active, Charlie Lee.

Having the Developer and Lead around to support Litecoin is a HUGE factor for it's success.

IMO, Litecoin should be around $800 to $1,300 by end of 2018.

It has the potential to cross 1000$ in 2018, but 4000 is way too much asking honestly.

Realistic Expectations are some much more valuable than "to the moon" speak.

Dont forget a flat nature of litecoin. It fires 1 time. then flat. Fire again. Flat. So now we it has risen. We need a correction to 150 - 200 to gain some potential for a new ATH. I am litecoin enthusiast and keep it since September. If you dont have much money to buy BTC, you can surely invest in LTC and it will give you multiplied profit in future. At least I recommend to hodl all the cryptos till 2021

Price rise to $5000 would be a rise by 1500%. Think about it do you think it will really happen in just a span of few months? No. Even $1000 is long way, most probably this rise in price was just a pump and it will come down to $100-150 within few weeks.

Litecoin will not reach $5000. It's not realistic, We will see it go down and go back up, however,  it won{t reach to 5k by the end of 2018.

Just did some basic calculations what the market cap of LiteCoin would be at each price - note this is to compare the value of the currency in its eternity versus a price etc.

For Litecoin to go to $5,000 which would make it the same price of Bitcoin, that's an extra $254 billion of value created.

- $304.9    $17 bn  << Current Price
- $350    $19 bn
- $400    $22 bn
- $500    $27 bn
- $750    $41 bn
- $1,000    $54 bn
- $2,500    $136 bn
- $5,000    $271 bn  << Where Bitcoin's current market cap is
- $10,000    $543 bn

NB: have assumed circulating supply stays the same at 54 million LiteCoins, obviously this will increase.

It would be that high? You have very good forecast out there but to make it happen prediction isn't a good one though but if whales or a particular group might get interest of LTC then that high priceay come true. I think even it just only exceed a $1k per coin then that would be good to hold onto. Some really say that LTC, ETH and even XRP might go price surge next year, I will wait for this altcoin pumps.

Lol well if in december 2016 someone would've said bitcoin 10k in 2017 everybody would make fun of him and say impossible so who knows?
My personal prediction is 500 dollar this month and reaching the 1k mark somewhere in 2018, if the problems with bitcoin (high fees, slow confirmation time) remains its very possible that litecoin will see some huge grow, 5k seems a bit too optimistic but i guess even 2k for bitcoin sounded optimistic just 1 year ago.

We all just have to continue buying, hodling and spreading the news, telling people about this project and the technology behind it and who knows maybe litecoin will follow in bitcoin footsteps in 2018

Lets assume im a normie, wow crypto im so smart to invest in the bitcoins my co-worker tipped me off about. Oh crap $17000 for 1 BTC thats too expensive. Hmm $250 litecoin, yeah that's affordable. It's the same basicly, amirite?

Basicly what happened to me in a nutshell a few weeks ago, and my investment has tripled by now and i think many others share my story; such stories will help getting people into crypto too i guess

I think it's too optimistic to LIte cost so much. There is no special technology in addition to fast payments and cheap. The functionality is limited. In contrast to the same ethereum. Even now I don't really understand why litecoin is growing. My prediction is about 1000 dollars for 2018

May be or may be not, its tough to say. But surely it will touch $1000-$2000 within the end of 2018.
Being a good one to usr for transaction, people have started to gradually move with Litecoin as well. But as the supply is quite a lot, the mark OP expected might be tough.

I think LTC will head to being 10% of BTC. So $1700ish pretty quickly. The market cap should rise to that 10% as well. Needs another 9 billion.

I think it will go to 5k. It's not anytime soon. It will take some time maybe couple more years and it will get there.

I don't think so. Probably it will stay around 1k-2k. History shows that might go well where it started $50-$100.

Litecoin just like bitcoin and ethereum shows a great potential but 5000$ next year seems too far fetched. Its too much for the price. It will increase its value definitely, but not that high. Probably around 1000$ next year. There are also a possibility that it will drop its value. The value of litecoin will depends on the market demand just like bitcoin. I think it will still reach 5000$ but not next year. Probably for the next few years.

So I have taken notice of this "coinbase effect" and I really believe that it is true. I think that people are downloading coinbase, seeing how high BTC is, and deciding to invest into LTC and ETH instead. I am NOT saying that these coins will pass BTC in any way, but I do think that LTC and ETH will be in the 4-10 thousands next year for sure. I made a video with my full predictions and thoughts, please check it out and let me know what you think! Thanks

I did not watch your video anymore. I am taking your post as the essential gist of your video anyway. I consider your views a little bit exaggerated. I don't think a lot of people here would share your views as well. But of course, you have your own bases in claiming so. But for me x10 is even hard to reach in 12 months time. Now, if you set 4-10 thousands in a single year as your target, most likely both coins will fail to achieve them.

really an interesting idea to discuss. I agree with you. lite coin and eth values will be high as market demand is also high. this is because both coins are altcoin that many users

5000 for litecoin is way too optimistic i think. In my opinion it'll stay in the 1k range in 2018 at most. There are plenty of other currency coins out there competing with it, so the investors might get a little diluted.

I think that if Bitcoin continues the trend that it had this year, I don't see any reason why LTC couldn't hit AT LEAST 2-3k per coin.
