Actually I'm pretty surprised Litecoin is still relevant. It should be so obsolete like Primecoin, Peercoin and other similar coins.
I wonder who speculates it? Maybe we'll see some actions by Bitcoin block-halving time.

Maybe it is backed by big manufacturers of the ASIC miner. They do not want it to die easily.

I think it is policy of the litcoin developers that they will not add any new features. It will be just a clone.
