Contests are good as it makes designers be more creative and pushes them to submit excellent work in order to have a chance to win. Also, it goves the company options to choose from.
I would recommend Jayce as well if they wanted to hire a designer, although he is not opposed to joining contests.
I'm sure the OP appreciates you guys ideas, but in the end it is their decision. Join or don't join.

From the marketing point of view, it is not a bad idea to make such contest. It has to be done properly though, and not the way OP made it so far.Thank you for your comments. We increase it to 150 USD. I will update the first post.
The list is interesting, but we want to involve as much as designers as possible to create more ideas.
You might as well increase it to 500 USD for that matter, but it won't worth much unless you get someone to escrow prize pool. The budget you give for contest is too low to have their interest unless you plan to increase it so many logo designer will join the contest.
