Small bump.

Since my seller in Tokyo is on vacation I'm still looking to sell this time, in person for cash only. Preferred in Kansai area but can travel a bit as well, also depends on the price of course. Round trip to Tokyo costs me around 190$ with Shinkansen.

If anybody is interested, PM me. Thanks.

I totally missed your post, sorry.

Well the gaia site is for selling crypto only, not for buying. Otherwise I would have used it before, even though they charge like 10%.

Anyway, I finally found a seller, in Tokyo though which is like 500km away, not the closest location. If people in Kansai area here read this, fell free to contact me.

Some of the popular crypto ATM providers in Japan include BitOcean, BTCBOX, and Coincheck. Here is a simple instruction on how to buy BTC from a crypto ATM in “the Flowery Kingdom:”

Find a Bitcoin ATM near you. You can do this by checking online or using a Bitcoin ATM locator app.

Once you have found a Bitcoin ATM, you'll need to ensure that you have a Bitcoin wallet installed on your smartphone or laptop, which will enable you to receive the digital currency.

Then, go to the Bitcoin ATM and select the "Buy Bitcoin" option. You'll be asked to enter the amount of Bitcoin you want to purchase and the ATM will scan the QR code of your address wallet.

Deposit cash or insert the debit card, depending on the features of a given machine.

Review and complete the transaction if you agree on the offered exchange rate (fiat-to-crypto).

The purchased Bitcoin will be transferred to your crypto wallet, becoming yours for whatever use.

Unfortunately there are no more bitcoin ATMs in Japan since around 2019.

So where ever you copied this from, it's old.

You can check yourself on https://coinatmradar.com/country/107/bitcoin-atm-japan/ , there are only some ATMs with pre registration where you can sell crypto, but not buy.

What about this one: https://www.gaia-btm-service.com/? Their fees are a bit high tho, https://files.microcms-assets.io/assets/467cf8df218d41e2ba3a3c802441001e/2021513451b54a3083791bccf9a5185b/fees.pdf.

@dkbit98 if you have any news, feel free to message me here.
I didn't receive any positive information, that is why I didn't write anything here.
Only thing I found, there are places and shops in Japan that accept direct Bitcoin payments, so maybe you can find them in your city and ask them for advice.
I know one store in Yokohama (they are currently on summer vacation until September) and I saw few more places mentioned in Zenmarket blog:
https://zenmarket.jp/en/blog/post/9201/where-can-i-use-bitcoin-in-japan#hackersbar

OK, thanks buddy.
Well they accept btc as a payment, but they can't sell btc.

Also, I love in Kyoto, we just moved away from Tokyo area, haha. Actually 1 guy that lives in Tokyo wrote me, the worst timing, as usual.

Anyway, thanks for trying. I appreciate it!

There are no Japanese as it would be illegal for them to even offer deals there.
I am not supporting breaking a law anywhere, but let's be realistic, at one point it was illegal to own a gold in America, to sell alcohol, to shop in Sunday, to dance to the National Anthem, to vote if you are a woman, etc.  Cool
Now I researched a bit and I found current weird laws from Japan, but I don't know if this is true, they say it's illegal to make your own beer there, and you can't show your thighs in public...  Wink
It's almost impossible to make p2p trading illegal.

PS
Give me few days and I will ask my friends from Japan if they know some loophole for cash-->btc in Japan.

Well, Japan is, and always was, strange.
And in this society people mostly follow the rules, also because of the 99% conviction rate and harsh jail conditions, that's no joke, you can see it on youtube.

Anyway, thanks for checking with your friends, I really appreciate it!

If you click the link in my signature (referral link), you can find sellers and offers for Japan. You might be able to find someone who will sell it to you for cash.

Hi there. Thanks for your post.
Sorry but as I stated above, not 1 single person listed there is in Japan.
These might look like offers for Japan, but every single seller is in Europe, China, America, and so on. I checked them all, every single location.

There are no Japanese as it would be illegal for them to even offer deals there.

But, did you you see the prices for buying with gift cards? 50% and more above the actual price, lol. I can't spend 1500$ to receive 1000$  Roll Eyes .
You can always create your own offers with more fair price Wink

Also, gift card exchange for whatever always smells like a total scam, I think we both know that.
I used gift cards several times and I am not indian tech support scammer Cheesy
They are perfectly legal if purchased in local shop, you are not buying them from unknown internet guy.
There are services like bitrefill.com and TheBitcoinCompany that made whole profitable businesses with gift cards and crypto combination.

Furthermore, all of these people offering this are not located here, so if anything happens, they cannot even be found.
Their location is not so important with gift cards, if you find good offer or make it yourself.

Tried to get Bisq. Downloaded and installed, but....
I have no idea what this error is, but maybe you have old Apple computer with old operating system.
And don't expect to find offers in JPY there (I checked myself), you would need to create it yourself, but Bisq is great tool to have.

So also a site like bisq doesn’t help me when I only have cash at the moment, no online banking whatsoever.
I keep trying to tell you that Bisq is not a website, it's a open source software you download and install, than you have the option to make your own offer to purchase Bitcoin with CASH in person.

Anyway, I researched more current Agoradesk/Localcoinswap offers in Japan and I see there is a option to by Bitcoin with gift cards (nintendo card, g00gle play, apple pay, etc.), that means you can purchase them with cash in some local shops in Kyoto/Osaka, and then exchange this gift cards for Bitcoin using p2p websites and Tor/vpn.

Good luck trying to find someone. Wink

Thanks man. I appreciate the effort.

I want to find a seller, but I am not desperate, overpay 50% and more and then run the risk of being scammed.  Grin

Thanks for the infos but according to local law these sites are not allowed to offer btc for cash adds.
There are also 0 ATMs in Japan where you can buy crypto as offering this service is illegal. Until around 2018 there were some but when the new law came they were all shut down.
Strange...
I didn't know Japan is so strict with this, especially after I used some services from Japan with crypto payments several times without any problems.
Note that Bisq is not a website so there is nothing to shutdown, and nobody can ban it.

Japan is very strict. Everything must go through an exchange here Sad .
If I had other possibilities I would use it.
Been in Japan and Taiwan for the past 7 years and because of losing my card provider I have no way of purchasing crypto online now, as I now stated several times. So also a site like bisq doesn’t help me when I only have cash at the moment, no online banking whatsoever.
After I got my new visa this situation will all change but for now I am out of options and can only use p2p I cash.

Thanks though.

Due to security and privacy concerns I only want to deal in cash. I can't just send some 4 digit $ amounts to strangers for obvious reasons. These transfers are no reversible and especially paypal, which I stopped using years ago, is a pure scam trap in my eyes.
Paypal is crap but they started playing with crypto a lot.
Maybe you could try using decentralized exchanges like Bisq, Robosats or p2p trading sites like Agoradesk, Localcoinswap, etc. and create your cash offer there.
This will be more visible than just opening bitcoin topic, but maybe you have some other local options for bitcoin trading in Japan, or with Bitcoin ATM's.
PeachBitcoin is another great option but sadly it only works in Europe currently.

Even localbitcoins didn’t offer p2p meeting anymore after that.

Trust me, I have been through all possibilities here and finding someone to buy from p2p is my only chance , even though it’s kind of illegal, at least for Japanese . Maybe it’s not but I think it kind of is at least. Of course if you are a foreigner tourist or whatever this is something different .

My credit card provider peaced out this year so for the moment all I have is cash. I know it’s hard to find someone here, even google can’t point me to some kind of Japanese crypto forum or whatever . That’s why I at least tried.
