Most payments are sent as goods and services. I always used to calculate 3% loss to PayPal, but it looks like they upped it to 4% in the last year or so. Can't imagine why, not like they have much for costs. I've been doing regular business on there (through eBay and direct sales) for going on four years.

Yeah, I know. Sorry for your loss.

If you deal a lot using PayPal then it's worth to apply for Merchant rate's and then you'll get 0.5% discount on fee charged by them and probably can start accepting payments as goods and services rather than gift (even that can be charged back though).

4% under rate (plus 4% fees) isn't great, but yeah it does beat 100% under rate.

So, new rule. No noobs, and no idiots.

This should have always have to be your rule when you were accepting PayPal.
Edit: What was the PayPal account he sent payment from? We should list it i open so that no one else should accept payment from that id.

Pretty much. Bend the rules once in two years, get scammed once in two years. I was not aware a transaction reversal could be that fast. Whenever I've needed PayPal's help it took frikkin' weeks. Had a claim filed on me once because I didn't ship extra stuff that the idiot didn't pay for - he thought he did, but sent his payment to an account that very obviously didn't exist instead of where I told him to pay. I really don't like idiots. Or dishonest people. Oftentimes dishonest people are also idiots. So, new rule. No noobs, and no idiots.

Indeed it was, payer's choice. I got emails from PayPal one minute apart: "We're investigating..." and "been resolved".
You did not do any kind of verification with this user? He just said and you accepted payment from him as gift?
Pls open scam thread under scam accusation so that some one from DT can mark his a/c as red.

I can take PayPal from someone reputable

And this is why I don't take risks on newb members - because when I try and do something nice the paypal transaction gets reversed inside an hour. Looking at you, essaouira82. Thanks for having the gall to ask for a second sale.
So you ended up loosing ~ $214? Payment got reversed w/o even you being given a chance to prove your side of the story? Was that a gift payment and not goods and services?

I can take 0.1 via PayPal if that's ok? I know I'm not a "reputable member" quite yet but I've been dealing with "Sardasa" via PayPal for a while now if you need someone to ask if I can be trusted.

If not then no problem I'm just trying to get feedback on my account so I can deal easier and get that elusive green number  Smiley
