Yes, I was referring to blockchain.com

Will the above still work?

I opened the wallet in 2014 and have a 17 word mnemonic phrase.

Use a much better wallet like Electrum and avoid Blockchain wallet. The issues with synching and showing wrong wallet balances confuses newbies, and they end up losing Bitcoins

Since you already have the seed phrase or mnemonic phrase;

1. Download Electrum from the Official site (https://electrum.org) and verify the GPG signatures depending on your Operating System before installing it, just to be sure you installed the right wallet.

2. Once you have installed it, Open Electrum, Select New and then enter your desired account name and click next to create.

3. Select Standard wallet and among the options select "I already have a seed"

4. Enter your seed or mnemonic and under the seed options button check BIP39 and click on next.

5.  I believe your script type on blockchain wallet was legacy as the default, so you select Legacy (p2pkh) and the derivation Path stays as m/44'/0'/0'

6. Enter your desired wallet password, click next to create the wallet. You should be able to see your bitcoins and spend them. If are not able to see your bitcoins, check the addresses in the wallet to see if one of them was your default address in the blockchain wallet you used in the past

Please keep us updated if you are successful or not

Only exchanges usually make use of email addresses while wallets that use passwords have nothing to do with the Blockchain as it is just an extra layer of security to help encrypt you wallet keys and phrases.

He's likely referring to Blockchain.com (formerly Blockchain.info), a very old web wallet provider. It's important to distinguish that Blockchain.com is separate from the underlying Bitcoin blockchain technology itself. They are not the same thing.

You don't need an email address to be able to access the funds in your wallet address. All you need is a the seed phrase or the private keys . With that you already have complete access to a wallet. The block chain doesn't make use of email addresses plus the password it uses is the seed phrase and private keys.
You can simply download a wallet software like Electrum and Mycelium then make use of the seed phrase or private keys to access the funds.

Only exchanges usually make use of email addresses while wallets that use passwords have nothing to do with the Blockchain as it is just an extra layer of security to help encrypt you wallet keys and phrases.

You shouldn't need the email if you have the Mnemonic phrase, since you can always restore your funds in another wallet. Assuming you're talking about the phrase after they upgraded to HD wallets and not the old ones they used to have many years ago.

Hi,

I'm having a problem accessing my Blockchain wallet.

I have all security info, wallet ID, Mnemonic phrase, password.

The only problem is the email address. It is not what I thought and I have tried everything.

Support aren't being helpful.

Any ideas?
