The last snapshot for the Trust flag viewer was back on 2024-05-27. Does this mean you stopped taking snapshots, or perhaps it's some glitch you might not be aware of?
I stopped doing automated updates years ago, and only run it manually once in a while. This just means I hadn't thought about it for a while. I'm running a full re-check of all Flags now. It should be done in about 8 hours. Let me know if anything fails.

The weekly DT update is a good example of how an update each week is sufficient.
Good point, I can keep weekly snapshots. But for now, it's still not working correctly, and I haven't had the time to figure it out exactly.

I now have hundreds of daily snapshots, so you can see who supported which Flag when. Does anyone even use that, or can I just keep at most monthly snapshots?

I think your question has been answered through a lack of an answer - I don't feel that people place that great an importance on who did what, when to the minute.  The weekly DT update is a good example of how an update each week is sufficient.  The only people who would need such information on a minute by minute basis are those either trying to garner support for or against a fresh flag.

The novelty wears off after a while.

My Trust Flag viewer is currently (a bit) broken, it doesn't update all Flags anymore. I need some time to fix this.
Considering the large number (around 2000) of Flags, I'll also stop scraping all Flags daily, and instead scrape the older Flags less often.

I'll update here when it works properly again.

Question: should I keep all older records? I now have hundreds of daily snapshots, so you can see who supported which Flag when. Does anyone even use that, or can I just keep at most monthly snapshots?

Bumping this Smiley Please review a few Flags once in a while, if you can spare the time. It doesn't matter whether or not you're on DT (that might change depending on how others value your judgement).
Once in a while something fails scraping: if the file size is out of order, just skip that one. I only leave them in for the navigation to keep working (and never bothered to build in a check).

Make sense 😉
There you go, have it your way:
New: Descending order
Starting January 22, 2020, my Trust Flag viewer is now in descending order (newest Flags first).

Allow me to use this opportunity to promote Add comments to Flags on LoyceV's Trust Flag viewer. Example:
Quote
The comments should be under the Flags, but I messed up the BBCode when I changed the order. This should be fixed in the next version.

A descending order will be nice. That way we can start looking from the latest flag.
I'll think about it when the list gets much longer.
By now the list is a lot longer with 1250+ Flags. I need votes on this: should I reverse the order and start with the latest Flag?
I stand on my initial thought which is descending order. I wonder what took a too long to have this in mind for you. 😉

I could be wrong but early today when I imported data from loyce.club, I felt the speed is lower than before.
I don't think the current hosting is slower. However, I do notice downloads start "slow", then gain speed a bit later. As if the servers are still negotiating how fast their connection is:
Code:
wget -O /dev/null http://loyce.club/Merit/merit.all.txt
--2019-12-30 06:48:15--  http://loyce.club/Merit/merit.all.txt
Resolving loyce.club (loyce.club)... 44.230.10.13
Connecting to loyce.club (loyce.club)|44.230.10.13|:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: 13339707 (13M) [text/plain]
Saving to: '/dev/null'

100%[============================================================================================================================================================>] 13,339,707  8.46MB/s   in 1.5s

2019-12-30 06:48:17 (8.46 MB/s) - '/dev/null' saved [13339707/13339707]

I did notice directories with 10,000 files load a bit slower, maybe because I switched from Nginx to Apache. I could install Nginx, but I'm still not even done with restoring all services.

Due to server changes, the banned-status in my Trust Flag viewer wasn't working in the last few updates. It'll be fixed in the next update.

At the risk of talking to myself a bit:
I have suggested before that I can allow users to add comments to my Trust Flag viewer, but haven't had any feedback to this.

~ is a duplicate of a previous (still active) flag
I don't really get why LFC_Bitcoin uses my topic on scammer BetKing.io as a reference topic for a Flag on game-protect.

Neither do I - in part the reason not to support the flag.

It's quite likely other flags have non valid reference links.
When I wrote about Flags that don't have a valid Reference link, I meant "not valid" from a webbrowser's perspective: The link doesn't exist (anymore).
The description on my Trust Flag viewer is better: "Reference topic does not exist".

Many Flags have a Reference link with invalid content, but I can't highlight those without doing it manually.

I have suggested before that I can allow users to add comments to my Trust Flag viewer, but haven't had any feedback to this.

Update: I'm now highlighting all Flags that don't have a valid Reference link:

To reduce scraping, I won't re-check all Reference topics each day, so there it could take a while to update after a Reference topic gets trashed.

These Flags are currenly involved:
Reference topic does not exist:

...

I've referenced in these two threads that the reference threads were either not created by the flag creator, or, do not reference to the person who is the topic of the flag (hence are not valid reference threads)

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/100-of-quicksellers-flags-are-false-5165940

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/lauda-creating-flags-against-random-people-linked-to-threads-not-related-5161689 <-- this thread needs updating as the person involved has recommenced creating flags against users, however the flag recipient usually aren't the subject of the thread in most cases.

It's quite likely other flags have non valid reference links.

*edit*

Have just recalled this flag is a duplicate of a previous (still active) flag - essentially double dipping / double jeopardy...  The creator of the second flag has modified their OP that many times (and even references the first flag) bullying anyone [1] [2] who opposes the flag they created.

For the first time, Flags have been removed! They'll show in the next update.
I've changed the wording: instead of "No such flag", my Trust Flag viewer now shows "This Flag has been deleted by the Bitcointalk forum administration".

Currently:
Quote
818. This Flag has been deleted by the Bitcointalk forum administration

819. This Flag has been deleted by the Bitcointalk forum administration

820. This Flag has been deleted by the Bitcointalk forum administration

Update: I'm now highlighting all Flags that don't have a valid Reference link:
New: Highlightning non-existent Reference topics
I've added a bold red "Reference topic does not exist" warning to Flags without a valid Reference link. Even if those Flags are justified, they shouldn't be supported. But you can create a new topic in Reputation or Scam Accusations to create a correct Flag.
Don't use a scammer's own topic as Reference link, if the topic gets removed, the Reference is gone.

To reduce scraping, I won't re-check all Reference topics each day, so there it could take a while to update after a Reference topic gets trashed.

These Flags are currenly involved:

Yes, mate this is much better in my opinion, a lot easier to navigate.

LoyceV fix this!
At the risk of talking to myself: Done!

All Personal Trust Flag viewers now only link to the profile on Bitcointalk from the username on top, all other usernames point to that user's Personal Trust Flag viewer.
coinlocket$: is this how you envisioned it?

Can I ask one thing?

Are the hyperlinks works as intended? Let me explain

If I click on a name here http://loyce.club/trust/flags/99.html like Theymos http://loyce.club/trust/flags/personal/35.html

I will get the flag user web page on your website BUT if I click on the following links from that page I will get the link to bitcointalk.

Isn't may be better to get links to your website here too? (we have the "see why" to get a link to bitcointalk.org)

I got myself a brand new VPS, and my Trust Flag viewer is the first part of my useful data on Bitcointalk running from there instead of my laptop. I'll run a daily cronjob at 3:18 AM (Amsterdam time). With close to 500 flags, it should take about 15 minutes to update.
I'm still uploading the data to my "old" http://loyce.club/trust/flags/ host. I want to see how the VPS performs before I change that.

If anything doesn't work, please post here Smiley

I would imagine your website would be several orders of magnitude less resource intensive.
Correct. I really don't need much in terms of data, storage or CPU power, I just have a lot of files. All I need is a server that just stays online.

I'm running low on disk space already though, when I got this hosting I didn't expect to ever reach 10 GB of Bitcointalk-related files. When I have time, I'll play around with a VPS to gain experience.

I'll stop going off-topic in my own topic now Smiley

I had used them to host my Full node in the past without any major issues or downtime that I can recall. I would imagine your website would be several orders of magnitude less resource intensive.

You may or may not be able to find a host cheaper than the couple dollars per month they charge for what you would likely need however I don’t think those savings would have a material impact on the financial performance of your project.

Appears to be happening when only DT members support a flag. E.g. #112.
Also see #105 for an example of the opposite: a larger font used for a non-DT member.

I'm not sure how to tell if an account is banned or not.
Vod's BPIP.org shows bans on the profile page (example). If a banned user starts posting again, it marks it as unbanned.
And there's my ban list, which is easiest for automated processing (but doesn't update unbans yet).

Update: I've just added this.

To do
Mark banned accounts.
Done! See http://loyce.club/trust/flags/15.html
Note that my List of banned users doesn't update unbanned users yet. This is still on my list to fix.
Also note that I only show the banned-status on flagged accounts, not for accusing or supporting/opposing users.

Sample:
I think it would also be useful to list the name of the accused first, rather than the name of the accuser. When looking through the (upcoming) categories of type 2 and type 3 flags, I'd be most interested in who has recently had a new red type flag on them, as opposed to who was leaving them.
Unless there is a very strong demand for this, I won't change it. I don't think it matters much.

What causes a flag to expire?
I'm not sure, maybe it happens when the creator clicked "Delete opinion"? Others can still Support or Oppose the Flag though.
See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=36
They expire after 3 or 10 years after the incident (based on the type of the flag).

[...] A new scammer flag should be created for each separate alleged incident. In the spirit of forgiveness/redemption, scammer flags expire 3 years after the incident if the contract was casual/implied, and 10 years after the incident if the contract was written. These expiration times might be administratively changed in specific cases. [...]

This specific test flag's "incident date" is May 2016.
[...] It is not grossly inaccurate to say that the act occurred around May 2016 [...]

So, 3 years after the incident (May 2019 in this case) the flag would have expired.

Yep, I thought that would be the reason. Maybe an extended pagination could do the job. Something like this:

<< prev 1 [ 2 ] 3 4 5 6 next >>

But thanks again for the development of this tool! This is just a suggestion / future improvement. Wink
