GAWMiners have virtual miners(whatever that is), LTCGear have actual hardware miners.
Not true, GAW calls their shares virtual miners, because they are upgradable and tradable. The hardware behind them is as real as any other.

True, sorry didn't know bud.

how does the LTCGear cloud mining service compare to GAWminers hashlets?

according to GAW they have ZEN pool that has 50% better returns than any other scrypt pool available

i think the ROI for GAW is now well over 70 days though...

LTC Gear isn't really "cloud mining" in the sense that GAW markets itself. LTC Gear, you buy shares of a mining farm, which equate to X amount of hash (depending on the coin/products you buy) for a 1 year time period... the biggest difference is the share multiplication, which helps maintain the overall earnings over time (it still degrades, but not that severe).

....and the fact LTCgear is 4x cheaper per Mhs compared to the most popular Zen Hash.

GAW cannot be compared to LTCgear.
LTCgear ROI is about 5 weeks at the moment.

Do you transfer the ltcgear shares directly to the participants?

My concern is mainly if someone holds everyone's shares and something goes wrong (lost, stolen, or ltcgear disappears). Then they are on the hook for the entire amount.

As for the transfer, it's a pretty straightforward process.... in your account area, you can transfer X shares to someone by their username... so the distribution would be pretty straightforward...

As for the second part... that can really be applied to anything crypto, exchanges, preorders, escrow, whatever... it all works... until it doesn't!

Usually the way group buy works is someone pays LTCgear get the shares and then send the shares to all the people of the group.

I was part of 3 buy groups and everything was great. Then I finally decided to buy 1600 shares on my own yesterday...

I see a lot of people going to BTCjam and similar lending websites to raise money to buy LTCgear shares. How long does this usually take? Has anyone had any success with this?

I don't think it is a good idea to do any kind of group buy for these shares. It adds significant risk for everyone involved and could lead to prolonged legal disputes.

The weekly payments are real (so far) as listed on the website.

I haven't any problems doing group buys or even just buying individual shares. I'd suggest heading over to litecointalk and checking the Services section if your interested in getting small batches of shares.

As for BTCJam, as of Monday evening I successfully got my loan funded for purchasing LTCGear Shares.  Grin so it does work Grin
