then i found out the hub i bought won't power a full load anyway... sigh.
This is the one I got: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005NGQWL2/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Anker makes good stuff so I trust them when they say this will support 4A, so it should run up to 8 units per.

hmm. tempting.

i'm also looking at this: http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/eecf/?srp=4

also says 4 amps, and i wasn't sure on the math... so i guess that too would be 8 units. oi...

https://www.bitcoinstore.com/advancedsearch/result/?q=MondoHub

out of stock right now but they is supposed to have it!!!!   yes 4 amps is 8 units .. 500 mA is 0.5 Amps

Isn't the Eruptor advertised to consume slightly more than .5A?  Should you maybe put 7 units per to give headroom?  Or will it just underpower it a little and drop hashing?

Your probably right I wouldn't put 8 on it being that close even if they say .5 A basic electronics never are right on the money so some will be .480 and some will be .51 so your right only put 7 on there or you might burn up your powersupply.

OH that one looks nice... I like it for the space on the usb and that it is 3.0.... bitcoinstore don't have it though ... and already sent my BTC for the other 2.. oh well... only getting 3 of the 5 I bought so 2 going on the usb 2.0 on my other box and 1 on the 3.0 on my main rig... I will survive... lemme know how that Anker Uspeed one is though might purchase it later.

I bought this

https://www.bitcoinstore.com/advancedsearch/result/?q=DUB-1340

900 mA per port and usb 3.0

and this

https://www.bitcoinstore.com/advancedsearch/result/?q=+DUB-H7+

the 2 fast charge ports can handle 1.2 amps per port so the powersupply must be beefy

and I bought with magical internet monies!!!!

Monoprice.com is significantly cheaper.

You just bought a $230 device and you are worried about saving a few bucks on a cable?  Smiley

Well Amazon's cheapest non-add-on cable I saw was $5.49, and the cheapest add-on was $3.89, which works to either $109.80 or $77.80.  I wouldn't say I was 'worried about saving a few bucks', but at the same time I don't see a good reason to throw away $50 on the same order at the same shipping speed.  Call me crazy!  Actually that's probably not a bad assumption, given the fact that I'm part of a group buy that has no reasonable expectation of ROI this year. Tongue

i actually got three of those amazon mediafire 6 inch extenders, at about 5 a pop.

I'm mostly with ya, but am pissed and disappointed that ~friedcat does not seem to be reliable and proficient as a counterpart.
This seems off-base, given friedcat and ASICMINER's history to-date.  They are the only Bitcoin company who are actively mining and shipping meaningful quantities of ASICs.  In the three previous Blade auctions, the blades were shipped within a day or two of payment.  Heck, one guy got his overnight.

Don't get me wrong, everyone is anxious, a lot of us have been burned by BFL/bASIC/Avalon, and the golden rule is "Trust No One."  That said, I don't see how anyone could look at ASICMINER's performance and call shenanigans.

Ya.  Mea culpa time.

I continue to believe that The Cat should have thought through and communicated a distribution scheme by the time he made noises that the items would be or were available for order.

I retract my idea that ~arklan/John K are completely harmless and believe that they started the project without complete information from The Cat who was not at the time providing it.  However, this is understandable given the situation and so far seems to have worked out well.

I personally am mostly at fault for my actions.  I added my name (and eventually my funds) without fully conceptualizing things or researching enough to understand the above two mentioned realities.  Then I turned around and made a stink about it.  It was wrong of me to do so since my own lack of rigor were primarily to blame for the predicament I found myself in.

(BTW, I never was as fritzed out as my ravings might have indicated.  Like 99.9% of my activities in on this forum and in Bitcoin-land generally, it's all good fun to me.)

Do we know for certain that ours will have the fancy heatsink/case ?

well, we know we're the first shipment of the sapphire production batch, and we know that first shipment is 200 units, and we know that the fancy cases have been shipped out in a batch of 200. i'd be shocked if we didn't get them.

Monoprice.com is significantly cheaper.  If you have Amazon Prime, Amazon is cheaper only if you're ordering 1 or 2.  I just bought 20 1.5 ft extension cables for $22.53 shipped priority.
monoprice kicks ass when ordering bulk.
