I do really like the idea of p2pool pools, the only issue I have with them is that in my experience smaller miners do not get paid anything. I do realize this may have just been from when the p2pool was overloaded and needed more nodes, but it may be worth running some tests to make sure everyone including small miners gets their fair coin now. (I did get plenty of coin from you pool as a small miner before it got overloaded.) Really not trying to bash on your pool here I mean no offense, you've always done a solid and respectable job, and I think p2pools are a necessity as the mpos architecture sometimes blows up. Just might be something to dig into and research a bit to further stabilize the CSC mining community. Would make me more comfortable with MooPool knowing that if all of MPOS goes down the p2pool nodes can handle the load. Keep up the good work, glad you're a part of the CSC mining community.
Thanks murderouskirk! It is a thankless job but just a little appreciation goes a long way
The Casinocoin p2pool specs were recently changed (thanks gururise and Rav3nPL) and I think the changes will help smaller miners. There are a few drawbacks to p2pool and being a smaller miner on a node with larger miners is one of them.
Before the Casinocoin p2pool was giving out shares every 15 seconds. This has been reduced to 5 seconds. This 3 fold increase in shares I believe may help more miners get shares more often. In other words, there is now 3x the chance that you get a share for payment. Once you do get a share we have the p2pool set to keep paying you for the next 60 blocks even if you don't get any more shares during that time.
Also, the amount of time for the p2pool to determine the share difficulty has been reduced from 200 to 60 shares. In theory this is suppose to allow the pool to adjust the share difficulty faster. I am not familiar with this setting so I am relying on other experience with this.
Please provide feedback as we are willing to keep changing the specs to best support the coin. I personally would like to see the DOA rate decreased.
P2Pools are difficult for miners. The mining console does not look as nice with the constant request for restarts. I understand that a lot of miners like non-p2pool's because of the ease of mining and web interface...have been thinking about opening up some other types of pools but it is nice not having any responsibility for people's coins or concerns about accounts being hacked. Also, although I hear it is better these days...push pools are known to be unreliable to operate.
