Crypto investments are undeniably risky. Most especially if you are a beginner in the market, you will be more susceptible to mistakes and losses that will make you more motivated to to achieve success.

However, no one do investments without losses on one side, that's already given in any form of investment. But we can always minimize those risks and increase the chances of profitability potentials through embracing those risks and develop high risk tolerance. And by focusing on bitcoin rather than altcoins, we can therefore maximize the chance to stay in profits.

There is no too much a risk in investing in cryptocurrency like Bitcoin and the only time one could face any risk is when the price of the asset you hold moves against your predictions of it market value, and at such time a short terms investors will have to wait longer time before witnessing what they desired price could be before theyake any profits from they investment.

So the only risk faced is in the area of timing because when it comes to cryptocurrency investment having a specified time is near impossible.

Hi everyone, I'm still learning about crypto currency and the lots but I  wanted to share a conversation I had with a friend.

So she's been hesitant to get into crypto, and I was trying to convince her to give it a shot. But she's particular about the risks involved.

She said something that stuck with me, 'I don't want to play a high-risk game with my money'. And I get it, the thought of losing your investment in this economy is terrifying.

But it got me thinking, is investing in cryptocurrency really a risky game?
It is a risky game and she's right if that's what is in her mind. You can't remove that from her but you can change her mind later on after proving that it's not entirely the cryptocurrency market that she needs to get involved with. She can start by doing it safely through BTC, this is the blue-chip of cryptocurrencies that she's safe to invest. The risk is there due to volatility but if for long term, she needs to be patient and see the result of it.

I mean, a lot of people are into it and we've all heard the horror stories about scams and hacks, but we've also seen the potential for huge gains.

So, is it worth the risk?

Have any of you had experiences that have made you more cautious or more confident in investing in crypto?  Please share I'd love to know
Based on my personal experience, the risk is worth it. If I hadn't taken that, I don't know what my life would be right now. And I'd say that I'm confident with how I invest now and I've brought this up as well to other investments that I'm interested with because it seems that investing in Bitcoin or crypto is the most volatile investment ever. I'll choose 100% to be in Bitcoin than with those intriguing and attractive ads of forex.

Yeah there are risks involved in cryptocurrency but when you play your cards you should be able to minimize the risks involved so she’s right to get scared but then they say risk takers are the successful ones so when you don’t take risks and leave your comfort zone you won’t be able to achieve anything.

But it got me thinking, is investing in cryptocurrency really a risky game?

When you say cryptocurrency it comprises of Altcoins too and Altcoins are very risky and they are not so reliable but bitcoin carries lesser or no risk except trading bitcoin. Bitcoin is a well established asset and by mere holding you can earn profit without the fear of losing your money but the only thing is that your duration of holding will determine your profit. As a beginner i would advise you stay away from Altcoins unless you have some knowledge about them but that doesn’t guarantee anything still.

The entire crypto space is a risky place especially for beginners but if you safeguard yourself properly you will have nothing to worry about and become successful so risk is always worth taking if you want to succeed.

Every investment have their own risk so if you will not do your own diligence, then you might fail.
To minimize the risk, you have to be prepared and be more knowledgeable about how the market works because investing is not just a buy and sell strategy, you have to be more strategic so you can have a better chance to make profit. Consider this market as your riskiest investment so you will have your 101% effort to learn and take this seriously.
And this is something that you should really that realize for yourself on which on the moment that you would really be tending to make out such investment then always consider the risks. There's no such thing about
risk free on this world and at the same time you would really be able to make money without having those possibilities of losing it on which this is something that do really happens in dreams.
This is why making those self awareness on how investment works is something that recommended so that on the moment that you would really be experiencing some loses then you wont really be that
making yourself that being that disappointed or would really be that getting too much stress on the time it happens. There are really people whose something like this when they do expect too much.

Crypto dealing is something that you would really be toughing up your emotions and mindset because dealing up with a volatile space is something that will make those emotions be played on
specially when prices is really that moving up and down on a very random manner.

You making mention of cryptocurrency which encompasses both altcoins and bitcoin. Does your friend knows any difference between altcoins and bitcoin because a whole lot of people are so ignorant about this difference risking their money with shitcoins only to get dump or rug  pulled and all you hear is that it's bitcoin that's because it's the most popular cryptocurrency in the world.

It's a risky game when you're investing in altcoins but a risky investment when investing in bitcoin. Bitcoin investment isn't a game.
For some beginners, of course they don't understand crypto well so they will just be afraid to start, but when they can take the time to learn about investing in crypto they will certainly be able to differentiate between Altcoins and Bitcoin and for those of them they choose to hold shitcoin assets of course. they have put their money into very risky assets and it would be better if they chose to hold Altcoins. You must really understand these assets well and don't do in-depth research on an asset that you will hold to make a profit. and choosing to be able to run both assets will certainly be better.
They don't understand because they have not giving time to understand it, cryptocurrency as a whole is not that hard to understand how's everything works and the difference that exists. Some intended newbie investors don't actually know how to take good advantage of the internet to do research at ease for themselves. There are many things we don't know that  we can learn online through platforms like YouTube without having to spend much and it will save from ignorance.
Shitcoins aren't profitable to hold they are aren't reliable, but just fine for an immediate hit and run for traders.

Cryptocurrencies means bitcoin and altcoins. Altcoins investment is very risky. It is not good to invest in bitcoin when the price is already high. You may need to wait. So investing on speculative asset should be done at the right time when the market has been very bearish for a long time. Bitcoin will get to all-time-high unlike altcoins that might not. It makes it less risky.

Hack will not be the reason I will not invest because if you avoid hack, coins are safe. Read and learn how to avoid hacks.

It is worth investing but do it at the right time.

There are things people are still mixing up here between bitcoin and altcoin..
At first they don't know that bitcoin is not as same as altcoin and they don't also know that bitcoin is the mover of the market whereas altcoin depends on bitcoin movement to gain more strength towards price increase. To whatever that affects bitcoin immediately affects every other altcoin they can lose without control even some of them devalue to a way they can't survive the bear market, therefore it's encourageable to invest more in bitcoin than any other altcoin out there.

Newbies could really be that neither that too scare nor really that too careless into something that they do first time be able to encounter on which on the moment that they've seen that they cant really be able to understand and getting curious with it then they might be having that probability that they would really be listening and would really be interested on the moment that you would really be making out those mentions on which it would really be that opposite into those people who had been have that tons of experience on getting scammed online on which on the moment that they've been hearing out something
new that in connection to online things then they would really be directly making out those kind of generalization and there's nothing we can do about it.

If ever you would really be able to convince her, then its good but if you do see that she didnt really put up any sign of interest towards it then its better to
let her be and deal up on things that she do want and dont bother her.

Yes of course, cryptocurrency investment is a risky investment. Not only cryptocurrency, but every investment is a risky investment. But we can take this risk more or less.

As long-term investments in bitcoin and altcoins at the top, it is less risky. Those who want to invest money in some Good coin for long term and want to take less risk, they are all investing in Bitcoin and top alt coins.

And the other is high risk. That is, the possibility of risk is very high here, we can earn a lot of money in a very short time by investing money here, and if the luck is bad, it may happen that all your money will disappear. That is, these are investments in Meme coins or new alt coins. They are completely uncertain, most of the time they come out fake, and suddenly one or two coins come out very good from which we can earn a good amount of money. But in most cases we will lose. That is why it is high risk investment.

Now it is entirely your responsibility to decide exactly what kind of risk you will take and invest. You can only take less risk and more risk, but risk you must take. You will not find any investor 100% risk free. In every case you have to take risk, even if it is a small amount. but without risk nothing good can be expected.

Investment does have that particular risks involved on which this is something that would really be basing up into your own choice whether you would really be trying out to
deal with it or would really be that trying out to avoid as much as you could. You cant be able to force up someone on making some investment. If he/she turned out to be that skeptical with it,
then let them be on which it wouldnt really be that wise on forcing up someone on investing on which he isnt really that accepting the risks because on the moment that he/she would lost up money
then it would really be definitely be ending up for you to be that getting blamed in the end because you have forced him/her on which this is something that i dont really like.

This is the main reason why on which i dont really tend to make some recommendation or trying out to hook someone on investing on crypto because i do have some bad
experience about being blamed on the moment that they have lost money and after that then i didnt tend to make those suggestions again.

Your question seems pointless to me.
If investing in crypto wasn't worth the risk, then nobody around the world would be investing in crypto and the cryptocurrency prices would be close to zero.
Obviously, investing in crypto is worth the risk, but what exactly do you mean by "investing in crypto"? Do you mean altcoin day trading or buying BTC and HODLing them in your cold wallet for 5 years? There's a big difference. Some people think that crypto day trading is "investing", which far away from the truth.
So far I never had any horrible experiences with Bitcoin. I've never got hacked or scammed with a big amount of BTC(only one time I got scammed with 100 USD). Dealing with BTC and crypto in general isn't that risky, if you know what you are doing.

It was always said to be a risky adventure from inception and worthless, no wonder in 2010, Laszio Hanyecz bought two pizzas for 10,000 btc. This is no longer news as it is all over the media with just typing pizza and bitcoin on the internet  Grin. Far back people didn't believe the price of bitcoin will get to what it is today and we can imagine how rich Laszio would have been today but he didn't see the vision and to hodl for a little longer.

Around 2014 to 2018, bitcoin was described as a bubble that is waiting to burst. That is, there have been expectation that bitcoin will crash but no, it is still available. Therefore, the point about bitcoin is not to rush in the investment. Do a research and check for it high and low, watch for the correction and buy at it bear. If you invest at the right time then before the fear of risk starts building up (for newbies), your profit margin would have started manifesting. However, it is never a risk if you want to invest for a long time.

I wouldn't want to read across other comments, because I believe we have experienced users that must have given you the necessary answers to your questions. But one thing you should understand is that: majority of everything you see or hear about has it's good and bad side. Just imagine if crypto had only %100 advantages and %0 disadvantages, would you want to associate with it?. In Crypto investment, there is always a heavy risk involve, so you have to choose according to the risk you can manage, thereby investing what you can afford to lose.

And again, do not try to convince anyone into investing in crypto. You wouldn't want others to blame you for their investment failure when things goes wrong.

It depends on what you are investing in, cryptocurrency is a general word that includes bitcoin and altcoins and investing in altcoin can be very risky if you are not careful you could lose huge amounts there, but bitcoin on the other hand has proven to be reliable, been one if the long lasting project bitcoin has also continued to increase in value and is also renowed as a good asset to invest in, any way with investing you must still invest what you can afford to lose, bitcoin is safe doesn't mean you throw all your money into it that is risky cause bitcoin is also volatile and you could end up in a lose if you are not prepared to keep that money for long.

I believe that when you say "games" you are actually talking about gambling. Well, there are many differences between investing and gambling, for example, this article explains these differences better:

- Investing and gambling both involve risking capital in the hopes of making a profit.

- A key principle in investing and gambling is to minimize risk while maximizing reward.

- Investors have more sources of relevant information than gamblers.

- Gamblers have fewer ways to mitigate losses than investors.

- Over time, the odds will be in your favor as an investor and not in your favor as a gambler.

source: https://www.investopedia.com/articles/basics/09/compare-investing-gambling.asp

Talking about the last point, read the last point and see the bitcoin chart:

now imagine that a few days ago you bought bitcoin when the price was at $70,000 and today the price of bitcoin fell to $60,000, you are at a loss, you will think: "the price will not go up anymore, the price will drop a lot" and the price really drops a lot to $30,000, you will already be at 50% loss, but look at the chart again, see that this has happened many times in the past, so if you are patient and don't sell anything, you will see that in a few years, something like in 2 to 3 years the price will surpass the $70,000 you bought and you will be able to make a profit. Historically, all people who bought bitcoin and held it for many years are in profit

but they had to be very patient in times of big drops, they didn't sell, now the same cannot be said about altcoins that a person can buy at the ATH and fall a lot and never again will the price of the altcoin break the ATH and the person will suffer a loss that never recovered. This is why it is very important to separate bitcoin from altcoins, bitcoin has a medium risk and altcoins are high risk

It's always risky, many people called crypto a highly volatile investment for a reason, especially for people that don't have knowledge and always buying at ATH, but if you know what you're doing you gonna make money, it is just a battle of wits in a nutshell.

your friend concern about the risk is actually good, knowing the risk instead of just blindly investing will spare her from losing money, but there's just some people that don't really tolerate risk you know, these kind of people never suited for risky investment, they better off with interest rate from bank deposits or some low risk investment for the sake of giving peace of mind.

Personally if i were someone that trying to get in touch with crypto investment, i'd try from smaller investment like $500 and then try to get the feel of the market and see whether i can really make profit from it or not.
after all, that's the only way you can test your patience and mental resilience when you see your asset is dumping. extensive experience with dealing of crypto ups and downs is what usually give you confidence, sort of giving you instinct to know when something gonna happen by also looking at the indicators of course  Grin.
