From it's onset ten years ago, governments using various tools have tried numerously to dissuade the public from getting involved in Bitcoin.
It has been called a bubble, a tool for scammers and terrorism, and lots of other names.
Having survived this long, it's encouraging that some of this nations have become very friendly to Bitcoin. And not all media houses publishes bad reports about it.
There are so many upcoming news, 2018 might yet finish on a high.

We've always had the media covering bitcoin and cryptos so that's nothing new
I don't agree. Until 2017 Bitcoin was presented like an exotic money-like thing for the geek's and mostly the hacks got coverage.
After that the optics have change, they talked about people's money in this and now the seem to acknowledge it as an investment vehicle.
So.. there are new things in this.
But I agree, the price couldn't care less about the news coverage. So whether we'll finish the year in a good or bad note, it will not be because of the news. The news will only tell what happened (or maybe speculate sometimes, but that's worthless talk, you know that).

We've always had the media covering bitcoin and cryptos so that's nothing new, sometimes we read articles spreading bitcoin obituaries and fud, sometimes we read bullish articles talking about how the price will shoot up very soon. It's hard to say if we're ending the year on a good note, simply because the market sentiment is bearish and prices just keep going down, also, not everyone expected to see such low prices at the end of the year, I'd say the only ones who are pleased with how the year ended are those who were waiting to buy cheap btc to hold for the long-term.
there has always been a lot of good news all over the media. in fact 2018 is filled with them but the problem is that price was on a downtrend for most of 2018 and in this last month we also had a new manipulative dump that crashed it even further... all of that meant that the good news is overlooked all year long but it is still there.
for regular investors 2018 is ending very bad a price is on a continuous dip, but hardcore investors will say this is a good ending as they can buy more in dirt cheap.
Finally, people are realizing cryptos, specifically bitcoin's worth.
I really don't think so. Take a look at the news and social media alone, what do they usually cover? 90% of the time, it's one of these:
- Experts say bitcoin will go to zero.
- Bitcoin is dead.
- Bitcoin is a scam, says expert.
- Something something bitcoin and criminals.
It's really going to be difficult to get the typical person to get bullish into something that's full of bad news. It will take time. I personally think the people will slowly realize bitcoin's worth when financial crisis hits. Either that, or probably huge merchant adoption. I'm personally betting more on the former though.
Yeah, I don't know if I like that kind of advertising a lot, last year for so much speculation and yellow news was created the huge December FOMO, they created that giant bubble that exploded over us and we're still feeling it, I think bitcoin's popularity should be growing, but gradually.
Anything concept, idea,ideology or technology that is not criticized means it is not important or relevant to people. I am impress by the criticism of bitcoin by media because it is gradually taking bitcoin to the mainstream.
I have watched major news channel calling it out on anonymity and major price fluctuations after Ohio became first state to accept taxes in bitcoin. Finally, people are realizing cryptos, specifically bitcoin's worth. What do you think, are we ending 2018 on a good note?
Will be hard to end in a good note after the last month crash, you know how media works, if bitcoin goes down, then they will talk trash about it but if bitcoin goes up the is a natural wonder.
At the end let them talk about it, doesn't matter if they talk good or if they talk bad, just let them have Bitcoin in their mouths and minds.
Mainstream media has been a major negative tool in dealing with the bitcoin market by their paid many FUD. Although, unknown to them, they kept helping to spread the gospel of Cryptocurrency, which is part of the overall game of nature. I just hope we should be ending 2018 well after an unnecessary hashwar.
