If this is not a scam this could be the greatest project ever! Surely celebrities will invest and the bounty will be a success.
I think the value will rise high because of this popularity. I will look for this if this bounty comes out.

Of course it wouldn't be a scam if most renowned celebrities and athletes would take part to it not to mention world renowned boxer manny pacquiao is involved and we all know that he has accumulated a vast amount of wealth throughout his entire career and I must say I wouldn't be surprised to see him participate in cryptocurrencies with all the money he has.

Senator Manny Pacquiao is venturing into cryptocurrency as an investor in blockchain firm Global Crypto Offering Exchange (GCOX).

GCOX, a Singapore start-up, claims it is the first cryptocurrency exchange of its kind as it enables celebrities to create their own cryptocurrencies, which they’ve dubbed Celebrity Tokens.

The Celebrity Tokens can be used to buy exclusive goods and services in relation to the celebrity on GCOX’s platform. It also provides fans access to their favorite stars through interactions such as meet and greets and live streaming via a service called Celeb-Connect.

Another service, Celeb-Charity, allows fans to donate to celebrities’ causes using the digital coin.

The cryptocurrency value is determined through “open market forces” and is supposed to be indicative of the star’s popularity.

Aside from investing in the start-up, Pacquiao will launch the PAC Coin as the first celebrity to create a token on the platform, reports Finance Magnates.

Per his 2016 statements of assets, liabilities and networth (SALN), the boxing champion has a net worth of over P3 billion. He owns over 100 real properties and has P250 million worth of investments.

American boxer Floyd Mayweather, who infamously defeated Pacquiao in 2015, has also thrown his support for cryptocurrencies by promoting blockchain firm Stox before its initial coin offering (ICO).

His Instagram post featured him with stacks of $100 bills and the caption, “I’m gonna make a $hit t$n of money on August 2nd on the Stox.com ICO.” This is despite the Stox Token sale being unavailable for him as it wasn’t intended for American citizens.

The company raised $33 million in 34 hours, reports Finance Magnates.

I laughed a bit when I read the article. So they used blockchain for... selling merch.  Grin

I'm Filipino so I'm sure some people here might get enticed by the local celeb though I'm dubious about the use of these tokens. From what I understood each celeb gets to have their own token. But then again, I also don't want to underestimate fanatics, especially fan girls.

That platform would need more than Pac to get off the ground though. Maybe they can get Jolie in it? After all it already have a charity function.

i was like omg pacman will launch his own token? i wish this is not a fud news
I doubt and hopefully this doubt is wrong because I do really like the idea if it is really his project. By using his influence and the support of many people globally there is no doubt that it will go to the moon. But the fact is there is no news about it in any TV news channels in the Philippines the very reason why i doubt.
Again, I'm hoping that my doubt is wrong.

Nah! I don't think so. It can cause a moment of spike because of the name associated with it but it may not be sustained over a period of time. What happened with Centra (a coin backed by Flowd Maywheather, the money man himself)? I saw the hype about it and bought in. But it hasn't really done much in terms of profit. In fact, it's constantly in the red.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. was just being chosen as a main promotor unlike for the plan of Manny Pacquiao that he will be the one that will launched his own coin so maybe it will have a different output compare to Centra as Pacquiao's personality is to not let his (future) investors turned down. As much as possible, even he gambled all his money, he is not the type of person that will dissapoint anyone who will involved in his future cryptocoin. Well that is based on my own view since we follow this man since the start of his career.

Anyway this is just a "plan" and I think Pacquiao will not be 100% hands on to this for now as he was busy on Senate and currently doing a soft training for his upcoming fight. There are lots of considerations before launching a coin so I think that is not his priority now considering his current activities.
Lets say he wont really let his project go to failure but how he can stop such thing? He might have the money or power to make a coin pump but I don't think that he would be generous enough to sustain its price even if the investors are tending to dump.He would really turns out to be a charity and people would really milk it because of the hype.I do wonder on how would this coin will be different from hundreds of altcoins in the market as of now.

Well not a surprise, now most celebrities has their  own cryptocurrency being supported. From Pot Coin of Rodman? to Steven  Seagull I think. With their popularity they can gather supporters with coins and can build a community with it. But, I hope they may have a tangible project behind so that this is not another case of pump and dump.
celebrity has a big influence to promote cryptocurrencies so it would be great and will be better to have a big influence in the crypto world

Wow! I couldn't expect Pacman Pacquaio will be interested too in the cryptoworld. Knowing that he is not just a well known boxer but a big influencer in politics, entertainment and society. Hoping it to be real as it might get big, i see a big potential if PAC coin is true.

I am a Filipino and this kind of news (assuming not a fake one) makes me proud. It inspires me a lot bacause even a sport/showbiz/political icon can also be engaged in crypto, this only proves that crypto is for eveveryone ~ can be access despite of your race, gender and age as long as you are willing to do so.

If this is really true then PAC coin will be a legit alt and will never be a scam, I'm pretty sure of that because it sticks to Pacquiao's name which means that his reputation will be affected if he did something inappropriate.

It looks pretty legit knowing that the Inquirer published it. Despite having different political and religious views with the Senator, I actually admire this venture of his. As someone who is very influential, this would actually raise the awareness towards cryptocurrency in the Philippines. Hopefully, not any type of corruption would be involved in this project of his so that the image of cryptocurrency would be preserved accordingly as this venture really seems to be promising. May this be the start of of something great for the whole country.

I also think this should be placed in the Press section as this is remarkable if proven true!

I wonder why Mayweather doesn't deal with cryptocurrency. After all, this man has a nose for profitable business. Though he may not advertise much...

But he did support and advertise cryptos like centra but it seems this project isn't active anymore.
If Pacquiao will  launch its own coin it will be a a big milestone for embracing the cryptos by Filipino and can be a big help for enhancing the image of cryptos especially bitcoin in the Philippines. But I guess if they'll launch the ICO there's no need to have bounty campaign here as it will surely be a sold out.
