I suggest you to do your own research about altcoins. As , you are new you should continue with bitcoin to learn the basic concepts and after some time go and try other coins if they convince you .

Ah, yes, and OP, don't listen to anyone on the forum. Every single poster on this and every other thread pushes their own bags. Worst of all are the bitcon bagholders. They are the most toxic shills when it comes to alts.

An irrational response, leading to an over-generalisation so extreme that it is useless to the OP.

No, it’s not the case that everyone is pushing a bag but it is important to consider the risk if tempted to follow advice about trading. Motivations are often not obvious.

How someone can be surprised by alts just shows how much they don't think macro. I knew altcoins must exist before i even seen one. How can one be confused by this? It's just logical ...

Don't bother wasting any time or effort on scammy altcoins. Bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency worth bothering with. There are many people on here who will help you & answer any question no matter how dumb.

Educate yourself & build a stash of bitcoin, it might be the best thing you ever do. We are a good community to be around mainly. Welcome & enjoy your time here.
the truth is here. btc is good for investing. its price can drop or raise but in the end you have something money or btc in your pocket. For altcoins it isnt same. After pump noone will use them and in the end you ll have useless numbers.

Is there a website that classify coins with special features that BTC hasn't it and compare their with other coins ?

Special features sometimes are neither special nor features ...

Some coins are launched by swindlers who make false promises about special features.
Some coins are launched by optimists who make impossible promises about special features.
Some coins are launched by incompetents who make ill-founded promises about special features.

Some coins are abandoned to their fate, some coins are subsequently rescued by the community and the failed special features abandoned or swapped out for others. Some coins are relaunched with a newer, entirely different version and entirely different parameters and special features.

It's your money and your call ... the principle is called “Do Your Own Research” (often abbreviated to just DYR), there are a number of web sites presenting altcoin metadata, alt19.com is one, minkiz.co is another. If your browser can stand the heat, try:

https://minkiz.co/coin/ *

I highly recommend you to educate yourself about cryptocurrencies as much as possible before doing any investment.Especially here in the altcoin sector where risks are way higher than in Bitcoin itself.
When you're new your strength must be knowledge and not pure naivety or faith.

So take your time and then decide yourself what you wanna do.
For instance I was reading and learning 4 months before I started any activities in cryptoland.

just stick to BTC if you're new.

DASH, LTC, DOGE, SDC are few you can check out but I would suggest do some research and try not investing more than you can afford to lose. Stick to altcoins that are older than 6-8 months and have community support and good developer.

Don't listen to anybody here.
Do your own research.
Don't be lazy, you need not too much time to see charts.

98% of Bitcointalk users think that 'innovative' coins are good.
You will be surprised when you see that reality is pretty different.
If you do your own research with historical data, you will see that buying 'innovative' coins which people promote here may be the best way to lose money.

If somebody is a real scammer and wants to create scam pump-and-dump scheme and to make quick bucks, he never will make a new clone (nobody buys it these days), he never will try to revive old and abandoned coins with small market cap to help investors (no expected big and quick money here),
a scammer will spend $10,000 to hire somebody who can create and implement 'innovation', $10,000 to promote this new coin, 1-5 BTC to enter exchanges, $10,000 to set buy walls, 1-5 BTC to hire paid active Bitcointalk shills who will cry 'Buy our innovation only! Other alter coins are clones and scams!'
and people will buy 'new and cool super innovative' alternative. Coin creators will sell their coins (instamine, staking) to 'happy crowd'. Not fast sometimes.
Some scams are evident, some not. How to recognize them? Real scams are created not to get 0.1-1 BTC.
If I see a new coin with market cap more than $1,000,000, it is a red flag for me.

If you need an example: XPY/BTC.

I had to laugh reading your post. That's how things are in reality.

Another thing that is worth to check is for coins that are staying stable for a year at least. Those coins probably have something special to them that allows them to stay alive.

nothing special, most exist so the creator can make quick bucks. there are serial scammers, get rich quick creators(dev) in this altcoin world. basically scammers who is creating coins own 100%, they then creating fake buy walls and fake volume on exchange(s) to make dumb greedy morons to fall into their trap. when there is enough real buy walls then these scammers dump the whole 100% coins, they then moving on to their next new coins. repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat... he's now have several houses and a bunch of expensive cars sit on his lot. easy money.

Yes there are many, over 500!
98% of them copies, scams and pump and dumps! There are maybe 5-7 innovative, that are trying to do something different or to fill the voids of Bitcoin. If you were to look at the alts, look only at those.

Those are in no specific order: Litecoin, Ethereum, NXT, Bitshares, Dash, Monero, Maidsafe.
All of the others, you can pretty much forget!

This is why altcoins should be totaly eliminated from the forum, since they only confuse new members.

@op just stay away from any altcoin, it's 99.999% just plain p&d scheme to get your money. The chances on profiting on those is very slim, especially since
you are not yet familiar with ipo's and p&d scams.

you can find all the information you need on this forum. You have the Altcoin section just for that Wink
or you can google for their specific forums such as Litcointalk.

Other forums such as Cryptocointalk or Bitbiz focuses primarily on altcoins

Too much altcoin recently, and mostly the altcoin turn into shitcoin because the dev can't survive and their only want to earn some profit just for them.

Actually the features of altcoin is various. You can see a lot list on altcoin exchanger if you want to see the price, for example: http://bittrex.com/
FYI, altcoin is easy to pump and dump.

Anyone can start a new coin but the problem is getting a value to it and having it recognised as being worthwhile.
