Mao Zedong is arguably the most influential policy-maker of the 20th century. Mao made China into a superpower. It is widely believed that China would not have had a springboard to leap from to become world economic superpower had it not been for Mao's dictatorship.
He did some bad things, he did some misguided things, and some good things.
Mao was strong, used propaganda, fear tactics and strong foreign policy to convince China that it was an equal of any nation (a first among equals, I guess, when it comes to Japan).

Mining MAOMao is not an easy mine. It is x11, but has on average 480 seconds blocks. You cannot blast it with hashpower and see 100s of blocks rolling in within a few minutes. You will make the difficulty shoot up, though.
Mao will also stake itself to PoS with just a few PoS miners.
So PoW blocks are precious resources to be grabbed and kept. Mao does not require PoW miners unless absolutely nobody stakes it. I will be staking, so it will go the full way regardless.
