Since crypto in general is on a bit of a downswing today, let's try something new.

Who wants to speculate on when the next hotfix is going to be, today? tomorrow?

Update patch version 3.7.3 available

We had to fix another couple of issues.

  • We fixed a critical issue that caused the BollingerBandStrategy to place spot orders if certain erroneous messages were received from exchange APIs.
  • The ARM version is now shipped as a tarball and you execute leonArdo by running the run-leonardo.sh script that's in there, just as with the "normal" x64 Linux version. This should allow it to run on many more platforms. For more details see this post: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.26784201

Click on the "update available!" link on the leonArdo login screen to download this new version.

Please note that this issue still exists in the demo version of leonArdo.

Sorry about any inconvenience caused.

Thanks,
Jonathan

DAMN!! I needed something to distract me after watching my BTC go from affording a house to a cardboard box.

Thanks Leon@rdo team!
You are in a big club!  Shocked  I had been thinking about a home in the country and retirement income while looking at glossies of Lambos.  Grin Guess I should keep that day job for a while longer.  Sad

Somehow, I feel that once issues with exchanges are ironed out and people are done taking profit, leonArdo will help to make those dreams possible.

There's an update for everyone using the ARM build. We now decided that just shipping the naked binary is too fragile for such a heterogeneous ecosystem as ARM. So here's the new way to run leonArdo on ARM:

Code:
wget http://marginsoftware.de/downloads/leonArdo-arm.tar.xz
tar xvJf leonArdo-arm.tar.xz
cd leonArdo-arm/
./run-leonArdo.sh

Hope this fixes things for those of you who were running Ubuntu for ARM. In addition to the Raspberry Pi, we also tested this on the Banana Pi M3, for those of you who want a bit more oomph. As before, please share any experiences you have on these systems or any other!

I'm also seeing not so desirable effects of the new BB strategies, ranging form not as good profits as the MM would have done, to very strange multiple buy/sell orders in short succession. I left 7 pairs trading in BB strategies overnight (bittrex) to see the effect - overall the BTC value went down by about 12%. Now granted everything came down 20-40% overnight, but I've had the margin maker bots running in similar situations and still ended up with a net profit. I can't post any screenshots just now.

For now I will stick to the margin maker bots, maybe run one or two BBs on the side to see how they get on.

Is it possible to see profits of each strategy in demo mode? I run it on bunch of pairs and I would love to see how each strategy is profitable/successful and/or how a whole pair/bot is profitable (in profit or %). Can't figure out if that is somewhere hidden in the GUI and I'm just blind or is it missing.

BB strategy is running very very weird for me, I can't follow its decisions. I'm on Bittrex and it has made several bad trades, when it could have made profits... I stopped it for now, cause it's not working (for me?). Maybe it's bad luck, I'll try again later.

Same for me.

I think there's a mistake in the signals. In my case, the bot has bought above the buying signal line (blue line for me) and has sold below the selling signal line (red line for me).

Most exchanges were made at a loss. Sales orders were placed immediately after purchase regardless of signals.

Same here, switching to margin trading at bittrex.

Awesome release thank you very much.

Is there some sort of guide of what the different options available for the new BB bot do?
What does the BUY/SELL BAND (1/2/3) do?

I think I understand what the other options do its just the Band that Im not too sure about.

Hmm I guess I need some explanation about the Stop Loss Buying/Selling as well. Im not sure how it works.

It would been nice if we could update the BUY/SELL signal on the fly without having to stop the bot.

I would like to know what these bands do?

The bollinger band strategy doesn't work well for me. Make purchases and place sales orders at lower prices almost immediately, when the signal is clearly showing that the selling price may be much higher.
This has happened to me with two different currencies.

I'm on bittrex running leonardo on the raspberry.
In the picture illustrates what is happening. Here you can see that the signal to put the sales order did not match the red line of the signal.

Is that a bug? does that happen to anyone else?

In this particular case it would seem like the trade was actually coming from the second strategy that is not shown. I'm suspecting this because the last trade was a buy and the bot is waiting for a buy signal. Would the settings of the second bot make the trades more plausible then?

Thanks for the reports about odd behavior of the new BB bot. We're looking into it! A couple of things you can do when reporting such behavior that would help us a lot:

  • only run one strategy at a time per currency pair so it's clear which strategy placed the orders
  • when taking screenshots, include the price-aligned order book on the right
  • also, show the list of completed trades
  • send the report to [email protected] so we directly have it in our ticket system
  • attach the complete log of the currency pair

We'll keep you posted on what we find!

Unfortunately this happen to me too!!!!!
i'm on Bittrex and using BB strategy. I know well BB and i used it for manual trading.
it is buying high and selling low.....
after a buy it immediately place a sell order no matter what (or where) the sell placeholder is...
Hope technical support could fix this ASAP.
The buy order also is not placed correctly (ex. bb lower band is not touched by the candle)

Hello everyone! I'm a rookie trader, just making my first steps been trading for a month so far. Made both some profits and some loses but on average my trading balance is positive. And i'm very interested in leonArdo cause looks like it has good price/features ratio. I want to ask some questions before buying a license:
1. How good is leonArdo compared to other trading bots? There are plenty on the market both freeware and paid. Looking at Gekko and GunBot also. But Gekko is opensource which is a + but has very toxic community which is -. GunBot looks awesome but 0.05 BTC is a bit too much for me atm cause my whole coins value is around 0.1 BTC.
2. Is there some kind of headless mode? I have couple of servers running Debian so the idea is to set a dedicated trading bot instance or a VM. Is it possible or i should look for something like GunBot?

You cant use the BB Bot in the demo as it doesnt support spot orders.

Quote
Edit: Demo does not support spot orders yet

Please take care that the demo markets on leonArdo do not support spot orders yet so testing the new Bollinger Band bot, while possible, will result in your demo funds being drained. We will release a patch for this ASAP.

I dont think the patch for this has been released yet.

Update patch version 3.7.2 available

Two patches in one day. Sorry guys, but this should fix some other issues that arose.

We fixed the issue mentioned by hackabyte https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.26712367
Funds weren't correctly updated on Bitfinex and open orders were causing issues, too. Now the two requests are resolved using the REST API until Bitfinex fixes the websocket behaviour for this data.
We also fixed the demo so that it now supports spot orders so you should be able to test the new Bollinger Band Bot in the demo
Fixed an issue that meant when you cancelled the creation of a bot it still created it.
Ensured that the same name cannot be given to a new strategy

Sorry about any inconvenience caused.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Apologies missed that!
