I based my assumption on the fact that the market surge of 2017 took a correction trend last year 2018.

It is possible that the market to recover a bit in 2019 compared with last year. But if you expect new ATHs you might be disappointed as it can take years for this to happen. Crypto is much mature nowadays and price is much stable, even if it stabilized at lower levels.
Do not expect too much this 2019. It could well be another year for the bears similar to what we had last year. I believe 2020 is the year where recovery starts.

I don't think it is practical that Bitcoin will recover to it's all time high not even to $10,000 the best you can hope for is $6,000 and the fall back down to $3,000 this is my best case scenario. The price of Bitcoin could drop well below $1,500 and I'm sure with the right market sentiment a lot further than that.
