Is "sgminer -k marucoin -o stratum+tcp://maru.altmine.net:8743 -u YOUR_WALLET -p x" OK, or does it require more parameters? I don't have a GPU to test with.

7Mhs is only around 40 Core-i7 4770k. A lot of people in this world could have access to this computing power. Some botnet owners or gpools could have a few thousand CPUs available. CPU only-coins are very favorite in China because a lot of people have free access to this.
It will better if there is an antibotnet system.
Explain how you could/would establish a anitbotnet system please

Many people try to mine with wrong miners / wrong algo, this invalidates the pool statistics, don't trust them, its all good.
Use the cpuminer from the OP at the moment.. (from dstorm)
We are all waiting for sph sgminer (gpu) ...
