I would like to mention two issues in here:
- The first; banned problem :I want to say should add the warning to the first offender + the reason for warning the wrong account that caused. Many uninfected users are offended in the forum and they are unreasonably banned. So there is an email about rules sent to new members.
- The Second, merit: Many members do not understand how to achieving merits. It is important to establish a merit scoring system because it is quite complex and difficult to understand at the moment.
I hope the forum administrators supporting and consider my behalf.the newbie and many other members sent to the board!thank you

rules are created to be implemented with the aim of creating a forum of non-infringement, which will make the forum well organized.
if the rules are damaged then there will automatically be consequences received by the offender.
so think before you act, learn before you start. You will get what you want. Wink

I agree to this. For cases like posting a copied reply without giving reference to original case, the member should be sent a warning. If he repeats the mistake , he should be abnned. But for major abuse like sending all 50 smerits to an alt, one cannot give excuse that I did this once.

- The Second, merit: Many members do not understand how to achieving merits. It is important to establish a merit scoring system because it is quite complex and difficult to understand at the moment.

Can you be more clear on what aspects you are not able to understand ?

The forum is not a children garden and those people who come here are not little babies to explain them everything. There is all necessary information as about banning as about merit system, the new user just should to use his basic skills for search and in an hour, believe me, it is possible to find out everything you are interesting about.
Nobody here will try to prevent someone's ban, so surfing the forum, taking a look on all possible boards will stay the new user informed and warned.

If a member do not understand how to achieve merits then he doesn't deserve to have one. The current merit system for me is now the most effective, and i think there's nothing wrong with it. Its not that complex and difficult as you say, but it is totally simple and easy.

helpful/quality post = merit or no merit
low quality/pointless post = no merit at all

it's just that simple and basic.

I don't see there are problems.  New comers should read the rule first, including instruction for ban and merit, which is very generic and applies to any forum.  Now there are many topics explaining merit system and it is not hard to understand it.

Warnings are irrelevant. If you really want to learn read more of the rules. If you can read the rules, you can also search the use of merit.

Yeap, banners should spend their time to read basic, important rules of BTT forum before complaining about their bans' reasons.
Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ
Shitposters have definitely gotten PMs for their deleted threads.

For users who abused the forum, merit system, plagiarism, etc., I don't see need to send them warning messages, honestly.
Abusers should be banned immediately after get found with as strict punishments as possible.

This warning your talking about, it's not really too necessary. If you can just read all the rules and follow them, you will have no trouble here in the forum. Actually all rules are not that too hard to follow, some members are just getting banned because they are not reading (maybe they read, but they didn't understand, ) the rules or some members already knew how the rules works but still, doesn't follow it. Those members are usually those members who are just worried about getting money every day.

Well, It depends on how you use your account if your were really expecting for your account to get banned then violate a rule and never come back, that's simple.

The merit system is pretty simple
You make good posts, you get merit
You make bad posts, you don't get merit
Don't miss to read it, this is your good opportunity.

banned problem :I want to say should add the warning to the first offender

... which the offender will ignore and will create a whiny thread asking for a second warning etc.

How about we ban the bounties and the signatures and end the make-money-by-shitposting-on-teh-intertubes nonsense. Yeah, that sounds fair I think.

Or you could read and heed the rules.

Just another guy polluting this forum with a spam post which he will never look back to.

Interestingly, the first thread he opened, 2 days after signing up to this forum, was this one, in the "Politics and Society" forum:

Topic: "robert lewandowski is my idol"

Read 5 times. No reply.

If we are lazy than nothing to say. There are several posts regarding merit system. There is no way to achieve merit hence to help people by creating post or replying on their post. And also a good post or reply never mean that you must get merit. We can get merit only if our post/reply is helpful as well as someone gift wants to gift merit who has smerit (sendable merit).

There's a FAQ for this which should answer all the questions someone has about merit: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/faq-everything-you-need-to-know-about-forum-activity-account-ranks-and-merit-2766177

I think we should sent a warn before banned member of range

Most members do get a warning with a seven day ban for a first offence (ie ref or sig spam), but it's only in severe cases of rule breakings like copy and pasting and sending phishing links etc that users are permanently banned. I agree that all users should be made aware of the rules upon sign up, but it's also a user's responsibility to make sure they read and understand them in the first place.

If you cannot understand the merit system even in months after it was introduced , you do not deserve any merits at all.

I think it would be safe to say that the rules are the warning...

The part where it says "don't do X or you will be Y'd" is literally warning you to not do something or else there may be consequences Cheesy

Many uninfected users
What are those members not infected with?  Common sense?  What people should do is read the rules of bitcointalk before ever making a post.  That way no warning would be necessary, and I don't support giving warnings out anyway.  Most bans lately have been for plagiarizing content, and anyone should know that's not the right thing to do--not on bitcointalk, not on any forum, not in college, not anywhere.

Many members do not understand how to achieving merits.
That's because idiots are too lazy to read anything, because they're too busy making posts for shitty bounties.  That's one of the reasons why they get banned first and learn the rules second, and it's why they're ignorant about the merit system--and why merits are so important to them in the first place.

Having a warning system would only add work for the mods, and it's not necessary.  Why should mods do more work when noobs can't even be bothered to read the rules and all of the threads about the merit system?
