However the most I needed this was when enrolling for a new campaign which ask you to post the total received merits in the last 120days. With some mental maths it is easy to put down a very close to accurate number for it.

This over reliance on bots/scripts to do stuff that are even minute has caused mankind the type of laziness that hasn't been seen since the generations past. It isn't any issue counting one's merits if one wishes to do so. It's just a few minutes. It isn't even a matter of breaking sweat. Remember that exercising the brain keeps one healthy.

This seems to be moving merit back into the realms of signature sales revenue. I think this is a retrograde step. as merit was intended to provide posters with guidance on the making of quality contributions. It would be better if sig campaign managers spent a bit more time evaluating the recent posts of applicants, rather than just asking for a merit total which may have been manipulated.

Indeed. Some threads/posts aren't getting any merit even they are quality contents.
That's why some users have small amount of merits received for 120 days, or even the whole time since they joined the forum.
But gladly, some signature campaign managers still chooses those applicants that has quality contents over the number of merits received.
But we can't deny the fact that applicants that has lots of merits received are most of the time, are quality posters.

I think naturally or without stress a forum user has track of their merit count and when a new merit comes in they no which took them to -xx merit count- this might be forgotten after a while but the merit count is arranged in ascending order from bottom to top so if you in need of it you can solve that.
I don't see any use of it numbering which merit took you to which merit count when the merit count is in ascending order from when received. If a particular merit count is special -there is a possibility that it might expires after 120 days expires so to the aim of it still defeated-  there is an option to save it

.....For example: I count the number of times I got 1merit and then add the ones where I got 1+ merit separately and then add the two. It takes a little bit of time but of course I feel doing this is better than just being lazy to rely on a script to do it for you.
I read about this merit counter bot and judging from the comments, it works.

There's always a smarter way to do things. If you use tools, it saves you valuable time but it doesn't mean you're lazy.

Currently there is no such feature.

Of course a script to count it would help for longer lists, but mine is not that long anyway Cheesy

Yeah seeing the stats of the merit beside and the number of the merits received is somehow like a motivation to do well in the forum. As we all know that not all are quality posters and most are average posters like me but somehow manage to get some merits from the past days. LOL, anyway getting merit is somehow like getting acknowledge by the users here around.

Good for you OP and you deserve it. This is one thing that you can be so proud of in this forum for behaving well and being helpful.

Anyway, there are other great users here too that start from newbie rank and now become a legendary like DdmmrDdmmr & CryptopreneurBrainboss. Those guys are very active here  and known to rank up in the merit system created by theymos. There are other users as well but they are many to mentions. Well, we do not know too that one day you will became a legend. Just keep it up OP and you can achieve something really great in the forum.

It can be done with user script and you can ask for helpful community members to help you build up the script.

From my stance view, it is not needed but if you think it is needed you are free to make script request and wait. Smiley

Right now I was wondering about this kind of feature which there is a count of the recent merit beside is the number of merits given. I come up with this idea because some of the games I recently played there is a monitoring sheet for your current points plus the additional points you will receive so I think what if there is a chance it will go the same with bitcointalk.

Also, it is good to see the progress of your merit like when you received your first 100,200... merit.
