I'd rather get 1 merit from LoyceV, The Pharmacist, and other legendary users than 50 merits from the others or worst inactive and wake up acc.
In a way, my sMerit is quite meaningless: I have to get rid of 800 per month. Someone who only has a few has the luxory to only send it to very good posts, so getting one of those should mean more.

I think what is more important is the merit value, I mean the user who gave it to you means a lot. Quantity over quality.
Imo, all merits earned have the same value. Sure, some users are more tech/politically/economically... savvy than others, and it would be more difficult to impress them, but for anyone to merit your post naturally (i.e without any incentive) then they found your contribution helpful and that is a net positive for the forum, whether they are a newbie, or a woke up account.
I think what he's trying to say is that someone in a higher rank's merit is valuable than the others, well if you think of that it's making sense obviously, some people are hard to convince with your idea or opinion, you can't impress them easily that's why he said that. I don't really expect for a merit every time I comment or post, literally an incentive for me but I'm really trying to post an honest and quality posts.
And if someone who is reputable in the forum merits you, it's like you just tamed a dragon.

Getting merits from certain members is dependent on what interests them, you could be very active in the altcoins section for example, a board which most members ignore due to the high level of spam, so getting merits from certain profiles there is impossible, regardless of whether or not your contributions are helpful, but it's still commendable when you get them from others.
I will rate getting merits in certain boards where they're hard to come by, over getting them from select profiles, but that's just me.
That's what he's really trying to say actually, "the user who gave it to you would mean a lot" that's what he's trying to say the Merit Value.

This seems to be moving merit back into the realms of signature sales revenue. I think this is a retrograde step. as merit was intended to provide posters with guidance on the making of quality contributions. It would be better if sig campaign managers spent a bit more time evaluating the recent posts of applicants, rather than just asking for a merit total which may have been manipulated.
Well I think most of the time, campaign managers guide themselves upon selecting participants with the total merit count and I think they do that because it will be very hard for them to check one by one the posts of the participants. Some campaign managers sometimes have more than 1 campaign at the same time so they are trying to save some time. I salute those campaign managers who does not depend the merit count in selecting participants for the campaign.

I cannot see such format. Mine does not have any post counts before the number of merits given to me. I only got the classic one. Is it because of the browser that we are using? Or this is an update to the forum? I think it's not because mine is not updated. So it's because of the browser?

This is just edited only with my browser.

Inspect element or F12 then edit manually the text. I just got curious if this kind of feature is possible, Also I appreciated all of the information given by the other members. I try to work with a script with the use of this feature.

The image is a doctored image, intended to exemplify what the OP had in mind, and set forward as a suggestion to ponder. It is therefore not a running native forum feature, nor is it related to the browser …

But gladly, some signature campaign managers still chooses those applicants that has quality contents over the number of merits received.
Hopefully.  I have the Services section on ignore, so I don't know how many campaigns are running or who the top campaign managers are, aside from Yahoo62278 and DarkStar_, but if there's any sort of merit requirement for acceptance into a campaign, that's a positive.  It might not be a perfect way to weed out shitposters, nor to select the best applicants, but it's a start.

But we can't deny the fact that applicants that has lots of merits received are most of the time, are  qualiyt posters.
That's probably true.  If a member has a decent number of earned merits, I think it's more likely they were earned legitimately rather than bought or obtained through some other inappropriate means (unless it's a purchased account, of course, in which case all bets are off).

This seems to be moving merit back into the realms of signature sales revenue. I think this is a retrograde step. as merit was intended to provide posters with guidance on the making of quality contributions.
I agree, but I've thrown up my hands and given up on trying to combat merit abuse/misuse.  As far as I'm concerned, as a merit source my primary concern is to distribute merits to worthy posts so as to keep the system running.

This over reliance on bots/scripts to do stuff that are even minute has caused mankind the type of laziness that hasn't been seen since the generations past. It isn't any issue counting one's merits if one wishes to do so. It's just a few minutes. It isn't even a matter of breaking sweat. Remember that exercising the brain keeps one healthy.
Humans always looked for a way to make their life easier, from most simple tasks to those really complex ones, and this is no different. It's not a problem to count merit if you received few dozens in the last 120 days, but it ain't fun when you have to count few hundred.
For that purpose I am using one of those Telegram bots so I don't see it really necessary to be included as one of the forum features, but wouldn't have anything against it either.

A search function (for the username) would be nice, though Grin
Just put your user id in the URL and go to the page directly: https://loyce.club/Merit/history/1452494.html (then bookmark it).

Spoiler, but my next version of the SuperNotifier bot (releasing in the next few days) will also have something like this. Smiley
