OK then, on a serious note. People are obviously looking at the word "cycling" next to the word "merit" and drawing the conclusion that merit is being sent back and forth between the oversexed members of Foxpup's clubhouse. That isn't the case, and I'd encourage anyone to take a look at who I've sent merits to (I don't know about other Foxxxxy cyclers' merit habits off the top of my head). You'll see that there's nothing of the sort going on. In fact, since I have avatars ignored I don't even know for sure who my fellow Cycling Club members are (though I know who a couple of them are).Further evidence: Foxpup used to send me a ton of merits, but that stopped abruptly once I joined the team. That's a Fox with integrity right there.

Usually, Merit sources care about the forum and their reputation. I've seen theymos undo some sMerit sent by a source, but it's rare.As theymos says: "it's not a big deal":
Aside from that, if people complain about whether things deserve merit at all, then that's something to perhaps think about, but if you conclude that they're wrong, then that's that. You don't need to stress about it or defend yourself constantly. It's conceivable that someday you and I will end up disagreeing too much about this stuff and I'll remove your source status, but it's really not a big deal.
(There are also accusations of sexual impropriety, but those accusations aren't always false.

There are no such rules about merit distribution. You can merit, cycle, or do whatever you want with them. There is only a rule that merit sources aren't allowed to sell their merits. There are no rules against organized criminal groups with foxes, cats, and breast pumps. What the DT community thinks about one's way to use his merits is a different topic though.
