Even with receiving the occasional sMerit, this is just an estimate, I'm fairly certain I won't see my next forum rank for about three years.  I'm uncertain if that is the intended result.

Do not loose  hope. We can see changes to this merit system as well in future. Thyemos has mentioned it one of the comments. He also said that if merit system fails to control the spam on the forum, he will be forced to take more harsh decisions like completely removing signature campaigns. Ranks will become meaningless for most of the members then.
Any given forum has to be one language, else it's chaos.  The language here is English and that's not a knock against anyone who doesn't speak it.  But it stands to reason that if one cannot  use the language properly, one will not make good posts and hence will struggle with the merits.  Users on the local boards don't necessarily have to rely on merit source members.  Any high ranked member should have sufficient sMerit to spread around.
Appreciate you reminding me, as I was more thinking of the initial outlay of sMerits we received based on current rank.  Once that supply mostly drys up, or is  at least halved, then I believe we will see a serious stagnation of ranking increases.  Even with receiving the occasional sMerit, this is just an estimate, I'm fairly certain I won't see my next forum rank for about three years.  I'm uncertain if that is the intended result.

Stephen King, a favorite author personally, sells books by weight it seems to me often, and I think he might be merit challenged the way things stand now.

if in my opinion there is good and bad about this merit called merit, why I say so
because there will be a cheating party as an example there will be buying and selling of merit who want to rush up the rank

There are some solutions for this as well:

1) People found abusing the merit system are getting negative trust from senior members.

2) Even if someone is selling merit points, his smerits will finish in few days. Mainly the merits are n hand of merit sources who are selected by the admin.

surely he who wants to get merit honestly he will be creative and creative word creation
that's my response about merit,
how about your response about this merit thing?

You are right about the pros. It will benefit the forum for sure. Regarding my opinion, I think the new system was much needed and we may see further improvements to this.

Does the Portuguese local section have a merit source? And is he active? Or should we send someone to apply to be a source?

Admin has declared who the merit sources are. You can check the merits distributed there and if you see someone meriting posts of different users regularly, you get some hints there.

I don't want to know who is the source. Only if we have one. Many people in local sections don't have good english so it will be very hard to get merits without a local source.

AH sorry, I admit I didn't understand your post at first.  What you are saying is, and please correct me if I am mistaken, is that unless each local language forum, which may be the only place a large number of native speakers post in, has at least one active and engaged merit source, then, the users of that sub-forum will never have an opportunity to gain in rank.

So, I'm sure there is a word out there for a system that is unintentionally biased against non-English speakers.  BTCTalk does give them a local sub-forum to interact in, but then takes away, unless they learn English, their ability to rank up.

I'm old enough to remember when French was considered the international language of diplomacy, and actually was, for a time, the "official" language of the United Nations.  So, if BTCTalk were French in the main, perhaps some of those calling for pushing out speakers of other languages might re-think that.

I hope, that there does exist, at least one sMerit source in each language that BTCTalk already supports.

Many accounts, like mine, don't focus on earning merits, but giving them away.

Make a good pose post and someone will notice.  Smiley

The problem is what really qualifies as a REALLY, REALLY, REALLY GOOD post?

You don't need to give merit to a REALLY, REALLY, REALLY GOOD post.   Just a post you find interesting or useful.  Smiley

I have 10 merits and I sent 5 merits to one member but, it did not transfer

10 merits for member then you only have 1 smerit i guess which is not enough to send 5 merit.

yes that is true, if i had merits i have been sent you some smerits

You cannot send your own merit. You can only send sMerit. When you go to send merit you should see your Merit amount and sMerit balance.

you must be in a gang with that 15 year old bum that negged me...
nice try im actually 11

Wow, eleven and already make money from bitcoin, that is a good thing man, i am regretting my younger time now  Grin

For all of guys who are afraid of merit, it is only running for 2 weeks, give it time, i bet on the future people will give merits when they see a quality post. And there will be a lot of quality posts in the future, because with this merit, it forces us to step our game to make good posts, so in the future there will be many of us who can make a great post, the key for now is to accept and learn.
Your right, good quality of post is one of the basis of many users to give merits, however sometimes even you are a great poser they can't notice it because they only focusing on earning merits. The essence of sharing merits based on the post of some users were missing. I think even DT were not satisfied to the post that's why they can't earned merits for a while, but this is a good challenge to us.

I know gaining merits is not like gaining income because there's a lot of things they were need to consider, so we need to be creative in our post to satisfy the eye of other users.

how can i see who sent my merit?

Look at your profile and click on "Merit"

this is something that all can check in anyone's profile.
so forgot to say mine its blanc?

Yes, because you only have 10 merit, which was given to you automatically when the Merit system was started (as you have already had a Member rank). So nobody had sent you that Merit, you were just given at the start.
