I'm also saying it's fine. For your info, I have started with 0 merits approx 4 months ago and now I am on the way to full member-->way to the avatar. I have the confidence that I will be full member on next activity update on 15 January.
You are here with  2 posts saying it's harder. It's nothing harder man. It is as it was back in the day for everyone who doesn't take it as only a money making source, simple.

I watch for many users and I will tell you that if you want to get merit and rank is not such an impossible task.
We just don't have enough experience for that...but most importantly, we have no desire. For many of us it is hard even to formalize your post, not to mention the more complex things. Do not have to write complex posts, delving into the markup language-enough so that the posts were useful and bore some benefit.

In future maybe adding an extra membership such as silver or gold membership so new users can at least add an avatar. My last account got stolen several years ago and I never got it back. Now it’s much harder (more like impossible) to get higher ranks so at least giving people a chance to pay for having an avatar. To those saying it’s fine put yourself in others shoes and imagine losing your account. Also bounty hunters/account farmers won’t pay to have an avatar.

It is clear most do not use the Bitcointalk Merit system, some use it purposely to deceive and some use it improperly for not knowing.

I checked your post history, so what I have found.
Honestly, if strictly judge, I think there is no post of yours deserves to have merits.

Positively, it seems that your post quality has changed, within the last two pages of your post history, in the way to move upwards, but they have still been low-qualitied.
I have a feeling that you tried changing yourself with longer posts, but improving yourself this way does not make sense.
And, this is why you have still not earn any merit so far.

For how to do it, you should using the forum search function, and find @iasenko. Then, scanning his topic history. You will find one topic in which mentioned what he did in his early days in the forum (totally for learning, learning deeply both inside and outside the forum), then come back months later. When he came  back, he made higher, much higher qualitied posts, and bunches of merits come to him.
Let's check yourself, and learn from @iasenko.

Posting as many posts as possible in diversified boards is not the way to help you earning merits.
Please remember that.
Merits are around us, not scarce, but posts that have high qualited or at least qualitied enough to receive merits are scarce.

I was junior level member, but after merit system, I demoted to new level, Now last 3 months I continuously posting on many threads on bitcointalk, but still didn't get any merit, I read somewhere, that one you demoted, you cant ever get merit. Is that right.

How merit transfer, only user can transfer merit or bitcointalk give merit.

Guide me what I do to get merit.

More of a potential than a theoretical amount, but really I’m being picky here. What we do not know is what amount of the Merit Source aggregate allowance is actually awarded, and how much gets lost due to not being awarded within the 30 day period.
Nevertheless, today’s adjustments to some of the Merit Source’s individual quotas, likely has in mind the goal of increasing the effective distributed overall Merit Source quota.

Ok so theoretical amount. Not dependent on if they spent it or not.

It's the exact sum of all sMerits from all merit sources.

So, just from merit sources alone, there can be 20735 merits sent every 30 days.

I haven't checked last 3-4 weeks but before that there were 119.
Remember the QA meriting spree and was removed after that. At that time they were 119, I don't know if new source was added until til now.

I think some of the old inactive sources with a big amount of smerit (old sources, bigger smerit) have been removed.
Keep in mind this is a personal guess and can be wrong.

Interesting fact that the actual merit generation is decreasing while the amount of sources increased.

Does that mean the sources have a lower a quota, or simply are there some sources that are inactive, thus less merit sent to them because of unspent source merit?

Does anyone have a clue?

He has red trust on DT2. That doesn't mean he can't be a good merit source, he just had red trust for years from someone who was recently added to DT2.
