Most people see it some sort of restriction which stops them from growing their account here so that they can earn money. We should look at the bigger picture. If no such new rules were introduced to check the spam on the forum, it would affect the post quality on forum. With time this will affect the rankings on this forum and experience of other genuine readers. In such a scenario, no advertiser would like to spend money here on bounties.
You are very correct many people never care to know what thread topic is all about before posting reason because they don't read which makes the forum full of spam. But thanks for the help of merits upgrading it has really makes the forum lively as most of the updates nowadays are now encouraging the beginners or newbies the profits behind bitcoin and why it worth investing on. It really add value to the Bitcointalk every one now manage it's account with care.

I think the true value lies in keeping the alt account farmers and signature spammers busy so they aren’t harassing contributing members of the forum.

Seems like you consider most of the people here as spamming annoyances Cheesy I still believe there are a lot of people here that are actually intrested in Bitcoin and want to exchange opinions.

Oh no..you didn't see this yet? or try to pretend that you haven't seen Howeycoin Smiley
No I didn't! Sadly I really can't tell if a coin deserves recognition, but with theymos on it, it looks like it would be a sure-fire success?

I like people who have the tendency to post all of this and who supports the merit system. It has been 5 months since it has started and people are still complaining about it, not to mention that they wanted to bring it down because it has destroyed many people's lives. What a claim! Yet, the merit system has been glorious and I am sure it will bring this forum a prosperous future. Let us all have faith in both this system and this forum.
Thank you!

For my part, I feel like it is super important for the future success of the forum.

Best regards

I'm with you on that point. And still many users are complaining about merit system  Grin Grin

But recently I have seen that Bitcointalk- endorsed ICO(I think you know what I mean) So I think you will reconsider about the fact regarding ICO and Bitcointalk. Smiley

No, what do you mean?

Good point kid! Hope you'll become a better salesman someday.
I'll bet you could solve someone's problem by looking at the best perspective that could be beneficial to both.

- People with short-term profits in mind will be turned away due to long progression to higher ranks.

That's (sadly) not true, for the bounties accept newbies and even brand new. Maybe you're talking about signature campaigns and the avatar option in personal profiles.
Take a look at all the bounties accepting newbies and the posting activity they usually have as a result.

Wow this is really away from all those merit system rants and ideas, I commend you for this.

Good to see that finally you have realised the benefits. From your post history, I have not seen anything yet until now. Keep up the good work, you will be respected.

I guess people change, or maybe just like what he said:
Usually I don't really have a lot to say or strong opinions about things, but I felt like this needed to be said.
people are sometimes just damn lazy to compose constructive posts but are in signature campaigns. I for one know what it's like to reply on SMTs since I am require to post 10 times per week with maximum of 20 (well, I don't think there's a problem with me wanting to also learn and earn), sometimes posting too much on Altcoin/Bitcoin discussion can make you look like a bot or shit poster or anything alike. While I don't really consider myself as a shit poster, i'm beginning to feel like one. Even so, I still try my best to be constructive as possible, at least i'm not a full time trash.

Sorry if this felt more like a rant rather than a post, well maybe it is, but meh.

After starting out in the crypto scene I joined some Facebook groups, other Forums, Telegram groups etc. And everywhere HUNDREDS of people are trying to sell you ICOs, CFDs, Blogs, Newsletters... I could go on! Everywhere you go, you run into a huge hurricane of SUPERBAD advertising. With one exception: Bitcointalk.

But recently I have seen that Bitcointalk- endorsed ICO(I think you know what I mean) So I think you will reconsider about the fact regarding ICO and Bitcointalk. Smiley

To be honest, I don't like some aspects of the merit system. The only reason I am going out of my way to post regularly is because I want to be able to use avatars. I am usually a person of little words, and I feel like making people post so much is just taking up more server space.

Grin I understand your plight and situation. More like men of little words. But, men of little words still say or should be able to say something that is reasonable, that would cover all the things that garrulous people would say in five pages just by "hitting the nail at the head".

I do not think the merit system is even advocating typing jargons in the name of covering space to get some merits - Nope. You can reasonably be concise, make your valid point, analysis and interested member/ reader can still give the post merit.

So, which ever way you are, you can make an analytical post and get a merit for it. Do you best and don't always look out for merit.

I for one like the merit system although it stalled my ranking up but all in all I see it as a good course for the forum growth. Provided it helps get the forum vision right its good by me. And everyone should embrace it too.

Being able to use an avatar or link in signature is a privilege and every member should be ready to contribute something for it. Most of the forums require you to pay money for getting those privileges but it is completely free here.

No one wants you to post more to get merits. Short posts which are to the point and constructive can also get merits.

Sounds like a true nightmare to me Cheesy When I first got into Bitcoin, I actually joined a few Facebook groups about Crypto. That's when the real spamming begins. I can only imagine how you account must look. If you don't agressively leave all those groups and put all those people on ignores, it can really ruin your account.

I have read your thread. Its not like the other walls of text there that has no thought. You have shared positive things about the merit system and that is what we need instead of those other newbie shits posting "its hard to earn merit", "how can I rank up" blah blah blah.

In one part of your post, I saw how social media is used for advertising. Its not bad I think since there are many users in social media but in my experience, for example in facebook, all I can see on my home is this posts "You want legit business, PM Me #legit". "This is legit business" with pictures of money then saying "you want to join? Comment How". My home is full of advertising posts and now, I don't like to browse anymore in my facebook account because of these shitty advertisements WITH REFERRALS.
